When you get that feeling of anxiety take a deep breath let the oxygen wash your brain. You are a very good communicator. I am a 59-year-old haircolorist trying to keep up with the industry and you and your communication are of great help😊💕💫
I tried this technique about six months ago, and let me tell you, it turned out AMAZING!!! I encountered a couple of colorists who didn’t want to work on my hair so I gave up and decided to do it myself, I have a level 3 hair color, so it was too dark for them. I did the whole thing and people kept complementing me everywhere. Thank you so much for your wisdom and YEARS of hard work and your own learning, this video is invaluable!
I’m in cosmetology school and I did this on my friend and WOW. I think I used to overfoil so much in the beginning and now I’ve learned that less is more sometimes if you want that beautiful dimension. Happy I learned that early on thanks to you and your video! Now I teach my classmates who have watched me and see how much faster my services tend to be now ❤️
Same here I'm so happy I found this technique not only am I saving my clients money I'm also saving time so I can get them in and out quicker instead of spending the whole day as much as I love them the more clients the better
You see I went to cosmo school and they mostly taught us just how to pass stateboard and not enough about technique and with your video I feel like I learned a lot and it gave me more confidence!!! I'm exited to try this out
I am 3 months into finishing cosmo school and dude yes ur right they don’t teach you much techniques in school. She has made me confident in doing hair watching her videos
@@ARAZAMNi’m here rn trying to find a good technique for my friends hair. only a couple semesters left and i agree, state board is more important to them
I always feel like I work way too hard and spend hours trying to make a balayage look like this on clients. This will cut time down by a lot. Thank you 🙏🏻
You explain so beautifully the first time and when you go on to explain it a bunch of different ways, it just reinforces my understanding of it. So thank you!
My daughter has been wanting highlights for the longest time but couldn't explain how she wanted it with not alot of blonde in it and luckily I came across this video and it's perfect! Thank you for making it easy to see and hear exactly what you're doing step by step without a huge hassle!
Yesterday i told my colorist to do the same back combing technique bcz i want a merge look not want blonde hair n he did opposite he doesn't know how to do back comb n he made my hairs blonde 😞
You're a great communicator. As someone who has been in the industry for 20 years but new to coloring hair, I appreciate the over explaining because coloring hair is not black and white, it's gray! Ha! I also love that you entitled your tutoriial as EASY and it's actually EASY!!! A lot of youtubers advertse as "easy" but skip through critical steps that heavily impact the end result!!! Thank you!! Keep posting please!!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🙏🏽
Thank you for showing how her hair looks before styling! I personally always wear my hair straight and like seeing how blended things look on straight hair. This is beautiful!
So happy I came across your video I have a client coming in next week that wanted a balayage she has virgin hair and wants the look but didn't have the budget for a balayage or full foil this technique is gonna save her money and save me time thank you for Sharing I can't wait for her to come in and to slay this thanks to you!!!!😊
Thank you so much! I ALWAYS prefer foilayage over free hand. The placement always looks nicer and more blended. I'm always looking for new ways to work smarter not harder and this is EXACTLY what I was looking for!! You explained it perfectly!
I just wanna tell you, I’ve been a stylist for 5 years now and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate this video Kristi! Thank you thank you!!! Thank you for explaining btw!!
Beautiful result, less is sometimes more 🙂 you make me smile, don't be anxious .We all appreciate your lengthy explaining and are grateful for your time and concern.Thank you ..
Agree with your coverage and blend! Minimal work done in the right way can create such an illusion that more is done then there actually was. that's outstanding! 👍
Hi Kristi, been watching your tutorials for a while now..love your work😊.. I just tried this technique on my daughter’s hair tonight.. I have been a hairstylist for many years ,had my cosmetology license at age 16 , graduated from a vocational high school and that’s why.. can you believe working on the floor doing hair at 16 lol.. I used to have to tell my clients I was 18 because at 16 I looked 14.. anyway, I mostly just do hair from home now on family and friends but I would hate myself if I didn’t know how to do all the latest and greatest colors / highlights and such! This is only the second time back- combing w/ foiling and I really love it because teasing at the root takes less time and just looks great as well as helps to avoid going too high up. PLUS so much easier to baliage this way!!! IDK how you foil your own hair so good!!! I HATE foiling my own hair!! It kills my arms and back and never comes out perfect so I always have to fix it with toner , more lightner ect!!!!! Anyway , she is processing now and fingers crossed it comes out well. If not I have to listen to a 16 year old bitch!!!! I will let you know.. thx for great videos
I’m not a hairstylist, I’m an aesthetician, but I’m doing my best friend’s hair today and I am literally going to do this video lol so thank you so much for sharing
I can't thanknyou enough for this video, I had been trying for years different salons in south florida, but as having a black dark original color, they always ended up doing what they can😢 , even if it means returning for a secomd step process to ligthening more, now im medium brown, but they can never let my highlights light ash with low lights dark, so today i found this video, and decided this is a fantastic way to do it myself and try.(of.course temporary, i will def need the professional hand to do the whole head properly) I just finished and realized that my color turned out with this technique closest to the color i want❤.. i was very slow with highlight but tried to imitate all what you taught here and highlights came out super clean, light and beautiful, that I believe bleaching the hair is the scary part for most of us. If one day I visit your state, definitely ill make an appointment with you❤ it would be my dream coming true❤ thanks
I have just stumbled on your videos and please be affirmed in knowing you are an EXCELLENT teacher! Seriously! I’m an artist/teacher who delves into experimenting w/my hair. I have loved ur videos. Keep up the amazing work. Many can do hair, but not all can teach and instruct like you do. Good’onya! ❤️💕
Time & time again I get lost in all the new techniques they come out with today, but for a solid 2 years I’ve been coming back to rewatch this & make sure I don’t miss a thing cus it’s a holy grail, tried & trusted & definitely the best time saving technique for blend & overall look. I love love love this placement & can never thank you enough ma’am for posting this 🥰🥹🫶🏻 of all the hair industry gurus, your tutorials make the most sense to me & easy to follow & I just trust you w it all!
I just have to say thank you! I was on a press for time today and wanted to look up a new technique to get it done faster and efficient. This placement turned out awesome!!!
W t h?!?! I have been on RU-vid for weeks obsessing and watching all these baly foily bowlyages you name it but all of the clients results were usually too understated/zzZz or wouldn’t work for my hair color. I was looking for demension on a brunette with bright & heavier front and lightening through the hair but not overboard.. yet still being able to leave the lightened and brown colors their own color without over mixing into one. And BAM BABY!! Finally!!! Great freaking JOB! Not to mention not that many foils!!! I’m stoked. Hair looks great! Ps I understood everything you were saying and I’m far from a stylist Keep them coming !
Thank you so much! This made me laugh! Actually..... at first just from the initial "wth...." I was worried this would be a bad review! So glad you liked it! Thank you so much for watching!
Yeah right .. u got skillzzz girl!! Soo many vids will start out all fancy with music.. and an Australian accent pops up. And I’m like OHHH SHYT!! I’m about to witness THEE balyage master slay some heads. And then after 45 minutes the results look like they just sprayed some sun in. People do so much work then it comes out boring. Some people anyways :) But your results have always impressed me. I mean it! Keep em coming
You Explain perfectly you don’t have to explain in circles you do a fabulous job an you’re phenomenal and you are a verb. And not a lot of people can say they are a verb! you’re perfect. like Mary Poppins nearly perfect in every way!!!
Sorry, I'm not usually a commenter but haven't done foils in a while and am about to help out a friend and come across your video which shows basically exactly what I do to avoid growing out in a harsh way. I love it but the reason I'm commenting is your anxiety explanations. I am right here with you. I understand exactly what you're saying talking about and feel the same way. I had to rewind it and listen to it again because I'm cracking up. I will have to show my friends and they will all be like. Oh my gosh that's you! So you're not alone sister. Also, this comment is voice to text because I just got out of the shower and I'm not going back to check any typos or mistakes. So be kind lol
You are an absolute magician!! I’m so in love with your work, consistency and dedication. You can tell that you really care about delivering the best results possible. I booked an appointment this saturday with a stylist in my city for a blonde balayage with highlights and i’m super exited about being a blondie again😍 (my boyfriend doesn’t like blondes and i haven’t told him about my appointment, wish me luck hahaha)
That's ok cause we don't need permission! Lol thank you so much for watching! I appreciate all your kind words! I definitely don't like short cuts and doing the best possible. Not trying to cover up lazy work
Thank you Kristi for explaining how you section, subsection, & tease & apply the lightener ... I always just feel so crazy when I'm foiling, what you said helps me feel like I can have a better plan and more control :)
Thank you for explaining!! I need to hear things over and over again! Your videos have helped me tremendously! So detailed and yet you make it look so simple!! You’re a blessing to me as a fellow stylist ♥️
WOW, that came out very beautiful...I started thinking while I was watching, maybe I could do a road trip drive to Washington to get my hair done...lol. ( from florida) Have a good day sweet Kristi~*
She’s the best hairstylist online💕💕🤩!! She communicates really well and very Thorough. . Beautiful job as always !! Please keep up with the awesome videos 🥰.
Thank you for sharing this technique! Im not a hairdresser but I have done my own hair a few times but it never comed out this beautiful like this time! It was so easy but effective to do on yourself cause you dont have to be so accurate and less foils. Thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Just a bit of encouragement... I have been doing hair for 28 years and I enjoyed this video and will be using this technique soon! You did an amazing job.
Omg!!!!! Finally a video showing exactly what I want!!!! It's perfect! Not too much, not too little & that blend!!! I love how you think of the future dye sessions & low maintenance grow out! Where are you?! If your in CO I'd love to see you! 😍 Also, if your not, how would you describe this, to another hair stylist .....so I know what to ask for? Thank you!!
Hiya greetings from across the pond,I love your tutorials super helpful and I enjoy all of them so Thankyou! Just tuned in to this video and was very sorry to hear about your dear sister.I’m a hairdresser here in the uk also have had experiences since about age 4 Just wanted to say that the essence of the people we love who pass away don’t actually pass that far away, they’re always always nearby, love is for ever and ever, you will see your sister again and be reunited with her when it’s your time so please never forget that and I hope so much that this little message eases your grief All the people who have gone we’ll see them all again don’t you worry Xx

I understood Completely within 16 minutes, I have heard this mentioned elsewhere but couldn’t get my head around their explanation - now I may have a go (I used to cap highlight myself around 10 years ago for many years) I may do a cap/foil combi now Thanks to your expertise!
Kristi, I'm not a stylist in the least... Just a cheap a** gal that likes to DIY some of my beauty rituals. I've come back to this video a few times to follow along with your foil placement and technique and I get professional results every 👏 damn 👏 time 👏. I get so many compliments. I'm a natural level 5, so realizing I need to leave some depth in there to make those highlights pop more was a game changer. Truly the best sun kissed golden highlights. Thanks for being thorough and explaining what you do!
You slayed this with such a simple technique…unbelievable. I used to do my hair years ago, even cut it but never foils. My bff used to be a stylist so I kinda copied her techniques. So recently I decided to go back to doing my own hurr….I made my husband put foils in my hair after watching vid’s (yes he kicked and screamed but he did it) and I wish I had found your vid prior, he watched it too and said the same thing…all we need is THiS…he was critiquing me b/c i got the foils with the window and he said they were difficult…but he did excellent; we got scared of burning my hair so we started pulling the foils a bit too early so I was left with a brassy look. He used the teasing technique but was tired when he got to the top and went too close to the root AND he would not let me sit down so his teasing was not as subtle…so I ended up w hot roots that I had to smudge with like a 6…I used a toner that didn’t work, wella 27 so i went in the following day with a 7/8 toner…also on the 2nd day I went in and did my money pieces in the front and managed to match them perfectly to what he had done with the rest of the hair but brighter, of course that also got toned. I only rooted very little at the top of the head and towards the front since this was my 1st time rooting and I also know that I will need a retouch and do not want to deal with blotchiness. All in all, it was a 2 day process for me but looks amazing blended and natural. My result looks like the before but a bit brighter. I want the after look for the touch up and will for SURE be referring to your tutorial. This was one of the best and simple hair viddy’s out there. Kudo’s to you. Rest in peace to your sister.
I have a client who's hair is stretchy and elastic when wet. It takes ages to comb through. But if I dry it to 70% and then use a wetbrush, I have no issues getting the knots out. Doing this for the past year saved me a lot of time on her hair.
Omg, just watched this episode in full! I am sooooo soooo sorry for the loss in your life , thats huge, i dont know what happened but no matter how, losing a sister would be huge, i dont want to think about losing a sister...Im sending heartfelt hugs to you lovely ❤Thank you for your time on RU-vid, i truly appreciate the time you take teaching and sharing your amazing talent on line. I would'nt be f#$%d, filming , editing talking etc 🤣,so thankyou 🙏❤. By the way, yes, i understand what your saying 😅
Sweets, don't even trip. You are explaining perfectly. And you should take into consideration that if someone doesn't quite understand then they will ask. So rest assure, your doing an awesome job. Thank you for sharing.
I’ve had people tell me I should do a RU-vid channel, but I was concerned about over explaining lol! You explained in a way that I would and I understood everything. Remembering that people learn in different ways is part of being a good teacher. Thank you for explaining this. I didn’t even know it was called foliage but this is how I’ve been doing it except with no teasing so I will add that and you’ve just made this an easier less timely process for me and my clients! Thank you.
Love love love your technique I’m a hair stylist to and and don’t like to do roots shadows because I don’t want to deal with that next time the client came back. Thanks for this content
Kristie, thank you for your amazing content. I feel like I have learnt so much from your videos as a stylist and it’s helped my confidence grow loads. So thanks :)
I absolutely love your technique and placement. I understood exactly what you were saying! Definitely made perfect sense to me. Great job!!! You’re lovely!
This video was so helpful!!!! Thank you!!! I’m a licensed cosmo in texas who has been doing lashes for the last couple years but I’m getting back into the hair side of things so I really appreciate you taking the time to post this!!! ❤❤❤
Love this video - thanks for the entire walk through! I’m placing a few in a diagonal v underneath just to break up a previous heavy balayage so maybe 25 foils total. Small attention for when it’s up in my 🧢 So excited to have found your channel Thanks again 😉
Found you a few weeks ago and loving all your videos. I’m also a hairstylist & I really enjoy your techniques . I’m a natural (& artificial 🤣 level 3) & I think I may try what you did in this video on myself with some level 5/6 highs to add a little something to my hair.
Hello and thank you so much for watching! I think that sounds like a good plan! It’s pretty fool proof I believe, so it should turn out nicely! Good luck!
I really enjoy your videos, you explain things well which I like. And the free education I get with your videos is amazing. I don’t have the extra money to pay for online videos, so I really enjoy your channel with the free education videos I can see. Your an amazing hairdresser as well and you break things down to my understanding as I’m still in hair school. 👏
I am still trucking it through school so i appreciate the 10,000 ways of explaining it 🤣 also after watching your mushroom brown formula video I tried it and it came out so pretty! And, i am so sorry to hear about your sister Kristi. I will be keeping you in my prayers ❤️
Thank you so much for keeping me in your thoughts... I appreciate that so much. ❤️❤️❤️ I’m glad the over explaining makes sense to you guys! I’m always scared I don’t. Thank you so much for watching!!!
You are an amazing teacher! Don't worry so much about repeating yourself. It helps people who are learning to absorb the information. This technique makes so much sense to me and I can't wait to try it. Thank you so much for sharing all your knowledge. It helps me more than you realize, and I appreciate your thorough commentary. I've been doing hair for 27 years and this helps keep me up to date, learning new techniques. Much Love!
Love this i try to find videos for balayage with out having to correct the roots. Thank you for sharing love this video will be trying this technique on a client soon
Wow, lady you're amazing and funny and so helpful, watching this video and a few more of you doing and explaining your foliage techniques just gave me a huge boost of confidence in fixing the clients hair a did a few days ago and didn't deliver on the result 🥺 keep in mind, I'm a recent graduate, the client has a black box dye, yikes, and I did balayage since her goal was to break up the outgrowth line, blend it a bit more into her length. I did a very heavy balayage with max coverage, but it almost didn't budge her the front of her face where the concentration of black dye was most prominent. I will follow your steps and I feel so blessed I stumbled upon you! You're such a good teacher and communicator!!!👏🏻 thank you!💗💗💗 The only question I have is what is your ratio of blond powder to the 20 vol?
1st time I've watch your video. That was really straight up hairdressing. I loved it..I'll pop over to I.G. And follow you. Less than 20 foils no shadow stretch. And the result was brilliant.
You hit the nail on the head for me on not doing shadow root/smudge. I feel like that tends to create not only more unnecessary work during appointment but along the line in future appointment . I know even though we use Demi color for those but still it will have to be lifted out but sometimes warmth does occur. Plus not doing a root tap does give the best grow out results unless we are working on dark dark hair or gray coverage:)
