EASY - Get usernames and password with Wireshark - Packet sniffing tutorial 2019 [Free] 

I should clear up some stuff about this video: I kinda over exaggerated what Cookies are. I didn't really describe them properly, they're essentially small bits of data sent from a website and they're supposed to be a reliable mechanism for websites to remember information or to record the users browsing activity. That's the definition of a cookie. Another thing, don't worry! This is a really basic level pen testing demonstration, and this doesn't portray how vulnerable we are on the internet. The internet will never really be an ultra-safe environment, but it's not like it's this simple to hack an account on every website ever. I'll be including some better information in future videos (thats if anyone would want me to make some). This actual process on this tutorial still works provided you use a HTTP site over a HTTPS, and you can still follow it at home. I just want to apologise for any misinformation I included back then. the front-face of wireshark doesnt show me ethernet, wifi etc but only cisco remote capture, random packet generator and some other 2, what do i do

Nice tutorial video. Like the title on the video it is indeed easy to understand & implement however I have a slight disagreement when u said Wireshark can't be used to capture a Https Traffic. It certainly can. It's not an easy process thou but that does not make it impossible too. In order for Wireshark to decrypt a SSL & TLS captured traffics you need a 'Pre-Mastered Key' & configuring it in ur Wireshark. I know it's not an easy process, especially on getting the Pre-Master Secret Key but again if u have the passion you can always be able to do it.

This method is practically obsolete now since majority of the websites you browse today have moved over to HTTPS. The ones that aren't are flagged by your browser as insecure. However, its still great to understand the theory behind it.

You can also spoof your mac address to someone who already has access to the password wifi network you can fool your mac to there's and get free wifi access. I've done this with kali Linux couple times to get free illegal access need to be sure to use your VPN while doing this.

But running wireshark from your PC doesn't show you only the packets you are receiving and transmitting ? In other words, only the packets that are supposed to reach your PC and not other machine's packets in the network ?

having https doesn't necessarily mean the data is encrypted, it means there is a certificate that your local machine/DNS can verify the server with.

The title is misleading. This doesn't work 95% of the time as almost every website now require a digital certificate. You'll notice in the video right beside the URL on each of the webpages its says "Not Secure" that means there isn't a Digital Certificate being used. Nice demo thought.

Great video, just started earning a degree in cyber security (literally just started and completed 2 classes so far). My question (which really are a few) with Wireshark, how can you determine if someone went to your weevil website via mobile or computer? Does that matter for this tutorial? Also HTTPS, being secured, is their away of doing this same thing to gather that info? I asked because VPNs promise that in a public wifi attackers can gain access to things even with HTTPS.
