I also find that my students prefer the long calculation. Like you, I compare it to the safe isolation procedure. Good video.

Thank you, I am glad you find it useful and reassuring. I think we learn something when we see others teach / explain something in the same way, it reassures us we must be doing something correct. Again many thanks. Please Get your students to Like Share & Subscribe .

With modern calculators (Like Casio fx-991 EX) it is simple to calculate the neutral current. Set the angle to degrees, the calculator to complex, then the output to the angle form. Then you can calculate with the angle symbol (represented here by

Hi Yes I have got a Sharp calculator that could do it in the early 90s or you could you 'j' notation for calculation. But for the most of the students I teach the examples shown are more than adequate. I hope you found it useful though. Many Thanks, Please Like, Share & Subscribe

Thank you for watching, the current will be equal in in each line. see: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--2268Ha2B8U.html hope that helps. Please share with like minded or like and subscribe.

Hi mate, appreciate the video and the help you're providing for people. I'm currently studying to sit my exam and I've come to this question: A three phase 400V four wire distribution board has the following loads connected:. - Red phase 8.8Kw - White phase 4.2 Kw - Blue phase 8.8Kw. Which of the following would be the neutral current? I have converted the KW to A using 1000xKW÷√3xPFx230 and then input that using your calculation: √(22.08² + 10.542² + 22.082² − (22.08 × 10.54) − (22.08 × 22.08) − (10.54 × 22.08) which gives me 11.54A on the neutral.. but the official answer for the question is 20A. Are you able to guide me on where I might be going wrong here?

I think these are single phase supplies - therefore I=P/V (no power factor mentioned) I1&I3= 38.26A I2=18.26A then as before for 20A Neutral current. Hope that helps. Please like and share.
