Now I have found you I can't get enough. I found where I can get the paper here in the states and precut fabric hexicons. Just been watching some of your videos and my goodness you are SO creative and have made such gorgeous pieces with the embroidery and applique. I am 80 now so the old hands get tired and I had quit quilting but as you say, when you are being creative it takes your mind off all the madness going on outside and calms you down. Well done Emma. You are a real inspiration!!
Thank you Emma for showing us how to do this from start to finish. There are a ton of videos that show you how to make hexies but not so many who show how to sew the rows together and finish off the edges. I still yours are some of the best teaching videos I have watched. You do a great job teaching so thank you again so much.

Hello Emma, I am inspired by your channel to embroider and sew a fleece blanket/quilt by hand for the first time. I fretted for a few weeks about the way to design vines for Suffolk puffs that will be flowers on the blanket. Suddenly I was struck by the idea no need for vines I can just sew the small Suffolk puffs throughout the blanket. Simplicity is best. :) God bless you.

Great video Emma, nice clear instructions and a lovely choice of fabrics. I have a handsewn hexie quilt that I need to finish and I now know how to go about it, so thank you for showing the entire process, I had been wondering what to do with the edges. Hope mine turns out as nice as yours!

If you don't have a knitting needle, a toffee apple stick or a bamboo chop-stick works amazingly well to push out corners. You also can remove those side tips, before you cover the shapes and sew the panel. Beautifully done.

Hello Emma, I love your videos and project. I am making a cushion myself with very small hexies. I make them into a flower form and than stitch them together.
that is another lovely way to join them, I often do that myself. For this cushion I was trying to get a gradient of colour which is why I went for the rows, otherwise I would have got mixed up with the colour placement I think. Good idea doing in rows. I am currently making a quilt 108 x 108 inches. However my hubby is currently using my sewing room to make some models. I thought I could make pieces about 16 inch and put them together. I save me the time I have had to take them down , as they are not fitting by just one hexie that may have been put in a different way. Oh dear , not the best idea I had. I could have my sewing room back it’s fair to say, but I don’t like to think it’s needed, may need to review I think. Your idea would make life so much easier. My first time for doing the hexies live and learn.
I hope you can figure it out and get it to work Karen. Once your piece gets bigger it does that quite a lot of manipulation to get things to fit. Take care

Hi Jill, so glad you enjoyed the tutorial and are making one too! If you are using hexiform then you definitely have to quilt it or they will come out over time. If not, I still think quilting is necessary because it will hold the layers in place and give it a better finish. I hope that helps, happy sewing 😊
Hi Emma, you make beautiful things. I enjoy watching your films, you explain it very calmly and it is simply educational. I myself also started with hexagons with Liberty fabrics and I wonder if you can combine the lana twan with the regular quilting cotton from liberty. It is a pity that there is not much choice in the Libertys in the Netherlands. The white matter for hexagons I'll have to do with a Moda or something. Hope you make many more of these movies!
Hi! Thank you for watching and for your lovely comment. Yes, I always combine liberty tana lawn with other fabric weights such as quilting cotton and linen. I know some people don't like doing that as there is a difference between them but I don't mind it at all and I really like the look it gives. The lawn is much finer and the cotton is thicker but it's never been a problem in anything I've made. I hope that helps
