Calling all health conscious Ba Kwa fans! I feel that I have conquered a whole new frontier with this Homemade Ba Kwa. I love Ba Kwa and we buy by the kilos every Lunar New Year. This year, my resolution is to have a healthier lifestyle and I thought where better to start than with my fave CNY snack.
This Homemade Ba Kwa is yummy, healthy (cause I know exactly what goes in it!) and most importantly, simple to do. Once you know the method, you can change up the seasoning anyway you like ... more unami, less sweetness, more chow tar-ness etc. - You name it, Sky’s the limit!

Can use golden syrup?

Hello! I have not used golden syrup in place of honey in the recipe. But I definitely think it is possible though you would want to check the marination/ taste to your preference with the substitution.

What’s the size of your tray & how many trays can you get out of 500g?

Hello. My tray is 12x16 inch (30x40cm). This recipe gets me two trays.

Hello! I actually like to change up my Ba Kwa seasoning. For my spicy mutton and chicken Ba Kwa, I used 5 spice powder but not for the pork as my kids don’t like the taste. When you make your own, feel free to add to the seasoning and switch it up or down as you like to suit your preference. 猪肉干 没有 猪肉的紋路 , 牛肉干 没牛肉的紋路 看起来像 假的人工合成的肉
