I've been looking for good, understandable videos on the Fourier and Wavelet transforms for so long, glad to finally find your videos! Keep up the great work!
This was seriously great!! I needed to quickly recollect the fundamental concepts about wavelet decomposition and thanks to your video now I feel to have everything at my fingertips again. It was extremely effective and it feels so good, I could not be more grateful for this... thank you so much!
I do hope you are alright and are doing fine. Your video was amazing at making something so complex simple. I'm using wavelet analysis for my undergrad thesis and I was hoping to get a really good grasp at it. Thank you so much for helping me. Again, I'm praying everything is good on your end, healthwise, family wise and in all regards. God bless.
another way the logarithmic change in resolution is useful is that even if the bass plays 16th notes, the transients will all be contained in the higher range of the spectrum, the main way the lower frequencies will be affected by each impact is a slight variation in pitch more than amplitude, therefore we're pretty much detecting exactly what's important at each energy level. Can't wait to figure out the proper math to impliment this in max.
Excellent video on wavelets! Your examples are very good. The jump into the jargon was a little rough, for someone experienced only with Fourier analysis, but I was able to hang on, especially with the excellent illustrations.
Hurray, and someone has just done it in simple terms. Thanks a bunch. please, can i get a video for explaining all those mathematical jargons. L2(R), MRA and Filter Banks. etc. i find them somewhat complex in various literature
Hi, I have a question about wavelets: I want to analyse power system fault currents with wavelet. when I use 1-d wavelet toolbox, d1 to d5 coefficients are in the same time scale and I can for example find the value of each coefficient in a specific milisecond like 2.05. but when I use "wavedec and detcoef" in my mfiles, the d1 to d5 coefficients are not in the same x axis time scale. for example if my wave exported from PSCAD be a matrix of 1000 samples, d5 will be 500 samples, to d1 will be 20 samples for example. and they cannot be synced plotting together finding all coefficients in a certtain x axis like time, which is being plotted automatically in 1-d dwt toolbox. so whats wrong with my understanding or using of wavelets? thanks
Respected Sir, VERY NICE EXPLANATION. Tan Q So much. If possible to give some problems about continuous and discrete Wavelet Transforms. If it will be happened, I am very happy.
Around 3:35 you said that some scientists believe that our brains use something like wavelets to interpret music, do you have any reference for that? Couldn't find anything
Great! i need to help how to know "which" wavelet use, i use db1 on my thesis, i tried to use others for my denoising application, but the result is the same.
+Angel Camacho could you please tell me which software and functions you use for denoising? I'm confused because of the number of packages in R and too many wavelet related functions in MATLAB.
