Now throw in 20 years of saltwater environment offshore with soft foot and rust build up and warped skids and every pipe and beam known to man just inches above it. Good video and helpful. Especially understanding the values collected.
That's "reality maintenance!" Unfortunately, we often inherit these distorted/warped bases, rusted machine conditions and all the pipe strain in the world and they ask you to focus on the alignment. The challenge is getting management on board to invest in precision maintenance and focusing on the machinery installation as well as the alignment. Good luck!
We sure have come a long way from dial indicators and a note pad. I am an old Millwright, learned "Reverse", "Coach", Optilign, Rotolign now learning Easy-Laser XT770. I hope after I get it figured out my company does not buy another system, I'm all for continued education but I am weary from it. Thanks for the video.
Hi Mazkact, we certainly have! We still teach and train on reverse dial alignment at our facility as we think it is still very important to know. It's a great way to understand the principles behind understanding misalignment, what is actually happening with the machines and how to proceed correctly with alignment. Glad you are working with the XT770, I think you'll find it not complicated at all to use and very straightforward. It's also excellent at non-rotating shaft applications and handling misalignment over longer distances . Good luck!
By looking at the results of the softfoot, how many shims did you use to fix it? Did you put shims in every foot or did you chose only the highest number? This is the final question! Thanks for the video.
If we put any shims in to correct the softfoot, we would only have put in at the worst foot (ie. 2.8 thou of shim at foot two). So this softfoot could be corrected by putting 2 or 3 thou of shim at foot two, but as explained since the standard is 2 thou or less, we can make a judgement call and not put any in because it's quite close to 2 thou.
Can we use android tablet(andoid/ios) to replace ecom tab display unit? If we can, does it means that XT50-M/S measuring unit could be connected to any other smart device?
The XT550 measuring units can connect to any Android or Apple device with the free Easy-Laser XT app. Whether the new device/tablet you use is ATEX approved (ie. explosion proof) like the ecom tablet is up to you.
Yes, you sure can! For the XT660, it is almost identical to what is shown in video between approx. 18:07 and 21:10, except for the Live 360 function (which is a XT770 feature). With all of our XT models, you can move the machine in both planes all on the same screen.
Yes, you can make the corrections in the adjustment screen or you can stay in the softfoot screen and make the adjustments. Either way, you should recheck what corrections you applied by doing another softfoot measurement. However, the laser should be used to measure the softfoot that you hopefully already corrected. The best way to correct softfoot is with a feeler gauge first, fill the gaps with shims one foot at a time, then put your laser on and check it. There are too many variables that could affect the numbers the lasers give you. ie. bearing play, couplings, machine casing, etc.
Yes - all of our models except the XT440 has the Multipoint measurement method. All XT models can handle open coupling alignments, but the XT660 or XT770 for instance using Multipoint or the Uncoupled Sweep measurement methods is preferred.
As along as you have input the correct adjustment and laser/detector distances, the vertical and horizontal misalignment can be calculated by taking a minimum 40 degrees when rotating the measuring units. Of course, more measurements or a larger rotation ie. 180 degrees vs. 40 degrees might give better data. In any case, to view the vertical misalignment and or rather adjust the vertical misalignment, you can go to either 12 or 6 o'clock positions and move the machine live time. Depending on laser/detector technology, you can also force live and and adjust in any position.
Hi Cokro, whether it's necessary or not can depend on the application. For the purpose of this demo, we decided to leave the coupling connected as it was easier to demonstrate. However, the best measurements you can take is if the coupling is open because there will be no potential interference from the coupling.
You can use one of the sliding brackets we offer on the static side (non-rotating side) and slide the bracket/measuring unit while using the digital inclinometers for both measuring units. Both inclinometers must be within 1 degree to record a measurement. If it is uncoupled, you could also use the newer Uncoupled Sweep measurement method!
We also have intrinsically safe shaft alignment models if you need to use this in explosion proof environments. Check out our XT550 model here: benchmarkpdm.com/shaft-alignment/easylaser-xt550-ex-shaft-alignment-tool/
Hello Tuấn - where are you located? Easy-Laser has distributors worldwide. Go to their website here easylaser.com/en-us/contact and find your local distributor.
Hello Larissa - i cannot reply in Portuguese but i think i understand your question. If you have high vibration coming from other machines close by and it is affecting your measurements, you must increase the filter to a higher setting. Go to the video at 10:25 mark and it will show you how this is done :)
Привет, для чего нужны фильтры в меню рядом с выбором режима центровки? (Стрелки вверх,вниз и волнистая линия))) использую эту программу и никогда не менял значение.😂 Как раз на проверке мягкой лапы у вас значение 4
Hi there, these numbers are for setting the filter at a high value or low value. Depending on where you are working and your environment, you could have high vibration from a close machine or hot air travelling near your laser/detectors - these things can effect the laser travelling though the air and into the detector. If you notice the values are fluctuating because of a condition like this, try setting the filter higher and it will get rid of this external "noise".
@@BENCHMARKPDMспасибо) может прибор зависать если значения стоят на пяти и выше в хороших условиях? У меня прибор подвисал сказали надо на ноле держать😂
The red target door is used for rough alignment. If you need a sun visor to block out the sun, we have a sun visor for the XT440 (Part # 12-1205). You can find it here easylaser.com/Files/Files/Downloads/Broschure/Product_Catalogue/product_catalogue_05-0444_Rev22_lowres.pdf
