Common reasons you may have a lock rekeyed are:
- Bought new home
- Lost keys
- Matching locks to function same key
- Tenant moved out
- Keys in wrong hands
Rekeying a lock consists of removing the internal components called pins and replacing them with new ones that allow a different key to function the lock. It is typically very easy to rekey most locks if you are equipped with profession locksmith key tools.
In this video I will be demonstrating how to rekey a mortise lock. These locks are most commonly found on commercial doors.
