Mixed spices like Penzey or "Johnnys" are rip-offs. My mother bought a $10 jar of Penzey Quebec beef spice . I read the ingredients: salt, pepper, sugar, garlic, and corriander. She had all of those spices right in her cabinet, she could have mixed her own for about $2 instead of $10. Your small 5oz bottle of Johnny's ($12) can be make with $2 worth of seasonings you already have in your cupboard. Johnny's "secret recipe" is sugar, black pepper, green and red bell peppers, onions and garlic. Grocery stores have these about $1 each for a 4oz bottle of any of those.
youre actually not suppose to wash chicken because it can increase the risk of spreading harmful bacteria and pathogens like salmonella and campylobacter around your kitchen. Washing chicken can also cross contaminate other ingredients and spray bacteria everywhere.
I quit washing my chicken a couple of years ago because the authorities in the know said it was better not to wash your chicken. A couple of times I have taken my chicken out of the package and it didn't smell so good. I cooked it anyway and I am still here. No one got sick. Oh, by the way, after the chicken cooked it was delicious!
