Five star video. I have the same year (and even color) and the screen recently started "ghost touching" like crazy. This is far and away the most helpful, professional video of all the ones I've found. I ended up just disconnecting the ribbon cable since I never use the touchscreen, but this video got me 97% of the way there. You must have the magic touch though, because you made putting the unit back in look like a piece of cake and I had a helluva time lining up the guide pin on the left side of the radio. Regardless, you made what probably would have been a 5 hour job into a 1 hour job. Thanks!
Mine started ghost touching like crazy too. It’ll like keep switching the songs, making adjustments on setting and clicking into a bunch of stuff. Did you end up just buying a replacement off of eBay? I need to do this replacement. I have a 2019 also!
@@adamsebetich9290 Right? I thought I was imagining it at first. Then I thought it was possessed. Anyway, since I never use the touchscreen (I use the controls on the center console), I didn't buy a replacement screen. I just dismantled it and unplugged the cable that connects the touchscreen.
@@robsimpson7057 So you went a few steps further and removed the backside of the screen in order to access the ribbon? Were there more than one ribbon cable or will it be obvious once I get it apart?
@@adamsebetich9290before you replace the screen, try to find “Resin Cleaner” product on internet, then a microfiber cloth and clean the screen by hard rubbing, it takes 5-10 min and your screen is like new! Trust me I did so by mistake with that Resin cleaner and has worked 100%. My screen is brand new! Do that and you’ll thank me later!✌️
Thanks for this! It took me much longer than you bc I bought a screen off eBay and had to heat/reglue the screen but it beats paying the dealership $1300
You have the absolute best videos, fine work. Thank you and keep them coming. Mazda's seem to be so well and easily engineered. I have a 23 CX 5. I hope it is reliable cause I really love the vehicle.
That’s for the video bro I’m buying one these this week and the screen is hazy and the dealer won’t fix it . But it’s only $200 on eBay for a used one . And now I see easy to install. You didn’t even need that 10” extension 👍🏼
Great video! Would you be able to advise or show how we would best route cables for a dashcam, front and rear cameras... I'd love to know the best easily route for the cables esp to the rear window, and Ive read conflicting info regarding placing cabling over airbags...
Can you show just how to remove panel #4 part? You showed up until 2:38 where the electrical to the start/stop is still attached. What would you do next? (I had an air freshener explode and am looking to replace this piece)
Thanks for this. I have a 2014 2.0 SkyActiv-G, would it be a similar procedure on that do you know? Also, don't you have to reset a few things when you've had the Battery disconnected?
Would you know how to release the connector to the screen itself? The repair kit comes with a new screen but not the pcb it attaches to with the flex. I see what looks like plastic screws but they don’t turn and I don’t want to break the connector
Hey. sorry for taking soo long but I swear I'm looking into it. I currently don't have any CX-5's on the lot with a 6th gen display. As soon as I get one that belongs to the dealer I will try and swap it with a new bigger display. I kinda don't want to experiment with a customers car. lol.
@@CARDIAXPLAYS I'm interested to know on this as well. Would be cool if the smaller display can be replaced with the bigger new gen one. My concern then would be firmware, since the new CX5's displays also come with new gracenote firmware..
would it be possible to upgrade the screen of my 2019 cx5 to the larger screen of the 2022 and above? great video btw I save it in case I need to do this repair to my cx5 in the future.
I’m about to buy a cx-5 and the screen is hazzy they sell them on RU-vid for around $150/$200 . Do you know if it will fit a larger screen? Maybe it look better once a new one is put in . On my Mazda 6 the screen was a bit bigger but had small AC VENTS
Are you able to show what is required for Apple car play add on? The dealer said it’s just a few added wire harnesses but I’m assuming the entire module needs to come with the firmware installed?
You need to update the system to a newer version that has carplay support. I've seen the files to do it uploaded online before but your mileage may vary. The wiring harness mentioned is the one that goes from the cmu to the USB ports inside of the center console. That needs to be replaced with one that is carplay compatible.
Hi nice content and really helpfull. I have some doubts in mind. I have a 2022 cx5 and the screen comes with no touchscreen option from the factory. Is there any possible way that i would be able to make it a touchscreen like regular car screens? Please do help me out. If anyone knows about this, please do reply.
How about constantly and super easy to scuff and scratch clear plastic from the tachometer? How much does the screen costs and what it takes to replace it ?
The tachometer plastic should only be cleaned with just water and a microfiber towel. same with the display screen. if you use any type of cleaner it will remove the thin coating causing a pealing look.
@@CARDIAXPLAYS ok i see , I used terry cotton and Maguire interior detailer designed for clear plastics and LCD screens .... How can I remove it and get it replaced ? Is there a coat if protective wax or polish i could apply to new one so it does not get scratched again?
I do not believe it is possible. I do have some extra displays laying around. I just might try this experiment next time have a little bit of free time. Ill let you know the outcome and if it works ill for sure make a video on it.
