Video to demonstrate how to remove the copper winding's from electric motors and the stators. To preform this method, I will demonstrate you need very few tools to quickly and efficiently remove the copper out of electric motors. This method can be used on nearly all motors!

Makes total sense, cutting them in half, only half the usual length to travel to come out. Thanks for sharing. Aloha

A great way to do tear downs. I went to your channel for some other ideas but didn’t see anything. Keep posting your ideas here! Seems like an easier solution/way for these & for other part-time scrappers like me. Thanks for the video

Nice job. I'm tired of cutting the windings on one end. The sawzall pulls too many wires out, a hacksaw is just tiring, and a grinder eats discs. If I could make something to put on my wood splitter it would be great

Absolutely! When I do the 'cut one side through the copper routine' It cost (depending on the size of the motor) much more friction, struggling, energy and time to get the stuff out. Hammering the blade cost no energy. I am actually wondering what the result will be if you don't cut ones in the middle, but instead make two cuts close to the ends. It will divide it in three parts, so the friction is much lesser, which makes removing the copper easier. Well, it's a theory, perhaps valid enough to experiment with?
@TheDurdane
@TheDurdane Год назад
You also could use a makeshift guillotine like press cutter. Using an old hydraulic carjack (electrical or just manual) and mount this in a square frame, to which you mount the blade you used now, in downward direction. Advantage, is less power, less noise and danger of hitting your hands. Will be faster if you use an electric one, but a manual jack will do.

Really great job, in my opinion. The plow coulter works great! I saw someone use a machete and bang it with a hammer. Works pretty well. I think the coulter section works even better! The geometry looks right, from the start.Those stators came out of oil filled 'sealed units' or? They look pretty big. Maybe I'm used to seeing refrigerator ones which wouldn't have to cool as much (lower ton/btu rating) I love how you go straight at it! Much obliged!

You know I bet it's nearly as clean as the content you produce over on your youtube channel.. I mean really, I enjoyed watching what you have on it. I am however just a little confused as to how mishitting that cutter with my hammer would have to do with tidiness of my workspace... I mean one might just say that was bound to happen regardless... i use a axe head to split it in half, u have to grind it long and thin ,so one hit with a 5 pound sledge and it sticks in the plates, then it works great,, i also have a 20 inch flat blade screw driver i modded by grinding the flat end almost to a point leaving 1/8 of the end wide,grind it so the end is no wider than the main shaft, mine is square, it goes into small openings in copper wire easy, a few hammer hits on the end ,and yes the plastic handle will break off,and then just pry the copper out.

Nice. Always looking for new methodology. Many shops will utilize a pointed blade 5 or 6 inches wide, or more, mounted on a hydraulic ram inside an arbor press frame. But for the hobbist who doesn't have access to big machinery this method is acceptable and efficient. Stay safe in your endeavors. Nice demonstration.
