480g flour 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/3 cup of corn starch Wisk put aside 1 cup butter 1 cup of granulated sugar Mix 2 eggs Vanilla extract Add flour and that Wisk Cook for 12 mins at 375
My grandmother used to say "You can not call yourself a baker until you can bake a sugar cookie that keeps it shape, tastes like it took you hours to make and gets you a proposal." I failed many times...on the cookies and proposals. 😂🤣😂
@@whateveritis3103 😂 I was not the best cook for several years so I had to learn to laugh at mistakes as I threw them in the trash or bury them in the back yard. I can say now, that after going to school, that the neighborhood animals go hungry. LoL
Typed it all out so its easier :) 4/480g cups of all purpose flour 1/2tsp salt 1/3cup cornstarch Sift and wisk Set aside 226g butter 1 cup granulated sugar Mix in stand mixer until light and fluffy Add in 2 room temperature eggs one by one while mixer is running Add couple tsp of vanillia/or any extract Add the flour mixture Mix it up evenly Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill for 20 minutes in the fridge Roll out and cut into desired shapes 375° for about 12 minutes check up on them to not turn brown
Thank you for not giving us bad advice like so many fake chefs do these days. I find your videos highly informative, concise, and easy to follow. You're an excellent teacher.
Hi I am Ariana I'm 12 years old and have made these cookies but with a little change they are my favourite, my 3-year-old brother normally does not like cookies but with these ones he came begging for them, they got finished in 2 days. I made it in my kitchen-Aid stand mixer and it looked just like ursTnx for this recipe. I love baking and cooking. Anyway, tnx for the recipe!
Ramella Love Me too!!! I love him because he will make a mess and laugh about it and not stress over it. He also every once in a while will make a little goof up and he laughs about!!! So much more laid back and fun to watch.
Hello! I tried it today and my dough wouldn’t come together in my stand mixing bowl after adding the flour mixture to the sugar and butter mixture. Any suggestions? 😩
I love how you always give gram measurements ❤️ It's so confusing when I watch other recipe videos and they do cups 😩 even though cups look so much more easier then grams.
Yes you're right, it does seem easier. However, easier often doesn't mean better and for cups here's why: you may have 10, 15 or even 20 grams difference with the recipe because people don't fill their cups the same. And with cups, it's so hard to divide recipes! Stick with your scale and grams, because you can see more and more baking youtubers or baking bloggers using grams. I think they feel they have to to be reliable to people. :)
@@chiaraippoliti I say cups seem 'easier' (emphasize on 'seem') because if we are completely objective yes it is, but not better. That's my point. And I don't want easier I want reliable and better ;)
Thanks, John. My nieces and I made this as a base for them to experiment with royal icing cookie decorating. It was so much fun. Sending love from South Africa 🇿🇦
Used this recipe for some Halloween cookies and they came out perfect! Soooo good. I also added some almond extract. Instead of just 1 teaspoon of vanilla I did 1/2 tspn of vanilla and 1/2 tspn of almond. Will be using this recipe for Christmas!
My son & I made these today & I must say BEST Sugar Cookie Recipe out there!!! Thank you for being an excellent teacher & sharing your amazing recipes!!!
I tried this recipe today and oh my God, it turned out wonderful! I used it as a crust dough and decoration for my pumpkin pie and was more than pleased with the outcome! These cookies are better than the ones I always made up to now. I will add your sugar cookies to my recipe collection, promised! Thank you so much! ❤️ Greetings from Austria!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU! Where has your simple recipe been all my life? Just made a cutout scalloped dress cookie (for my nieces communion), and they kept their shape perfectly!!!! Don’t know how excited this makes me, as I now feel comfortable offering them for a friends wedding shower too!
I just made these cookies a few days ago, and they are magical! There was no spreading at all, the borders are crisp, and they are absolutely delicious! Thank you!
I literally just made these for Hanukkah, and they came out AMAZING! Everyone loved them!!! Crispy on the edges, soft and slightly chewy in the middle. Perfect golden color. I used a magen of David cookie cutter and a Ginger bread man for fun. They most definitely kept their shape and check out his royal icing video. We had a cookie decorating party. Depending on the size of your cookie cutter, I had big and small so we easily made a little more than two dozen w/one batch. I used 1/3 Cup of corn starch like he had adjusted and mentioned in the video and they did in all honesty come out fantastic. I put it flat in the fridge for 30 minutes, because I was working on the second batch of dough. The fist batch i used Pure Vanilla extract. On the second batch I added a pinch of caramel extract. What's great is that you can change the flavor so easily. Bravo to this recipe 👏🏆
I made these cookies today and I have to tell you John, this was the easiest dough that I have ever worked with in my life! It tasted great too. The cookies had a nice crisp and tasted very good. My one note is that I had to be careful to make them all the same thickness, only a couple thinner ones browned a wee bit more. I’m using this dough all of the time now, thank you!
This recipe is hands down THE BEST sugar cookie recipe I've ever tried (and I've tried many). The secret ingredient really makes a huge difference. Thank you so much for this brilliant tip!
@@arwen3478 It’s probably because of the time. Your oven might not be the same as the one in the video, so it would need a different time or temperature than listed.
I have just gotten into baking sugar cookies for sell. I tried at least 5 recipes. I wanted to find one that I could use. This is it! I'm throwing all the others away. This recipe is a real game changer. I cannot stand it when I take the time to make dough, roll it out and bake it only for the cookies to spread. No more! Thank you for this recipe!
For any confusion, his recent Christmas sugar cookie video from 4 months ago doesn’t include cornstarch. Instead it uses baking soda. I highly recommend this recipe. It gave a nice shape and rise on my cookies! I’ve followed this recipe many times. Hope this helps!
omg i just remember watching his videos a year ago and he had like 20k subs and i always thought like damn he deserves more..so here we are at 500k im so happy for him he absolutely deserves this.. keep it up man!
This is a good recipe, almost identical to one that I use. However, I don't use flower to roll them out. I roll them between either 2 pieces of parchment paper. That way I don't have to have them toughen up by adding more flour. Great job on your cookies. :)
In case anybody needs it :) Halfed Ingredients: 2 cups flour 1/4 teaspoon salt 2 tablespoons + 2 teaspoons corn starch 1/2 cup unsalted butter 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1 egg 1 teaspoon vanilla extract PS: Great recipe with wonderful, clear instructions! Thank you so much!
I was craving sugar cookies so bad I made these at night, thinking to myself how upset I'd be if they didnt turn out good enough to satisfy my cravings. Well, luckily, they turned out amazing!! These were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft and flaky in the middle! This novice baker will definitely be making these again!
This is the best sugar cookie recipe that I have tried so far. Instruction is easy to follow and very consistent results every time! Thank you for sharing!
My family calls me the cookie queen but SERIOUSLY....not compared to this piece of cookie heaven resource. How is it possible to have every single cookie that I've ever made, tried, loved, thought of, heard of, and even NOT heard of in one single place? All that said, with beautiful photos, great results, wonderful tips....I love this! I decluttered my KAF cookbook bc it turned out to be too cumbersome, too complicated, too unrealistic, etc What else would you need in life besides your cookie recipes?! So thankful I found this resource!❤😊
I made these delicious sugar cookies today and they were amazing! Now I'm obsessed with them 😆.I did not use any flavouring but it still smelled nice. Thanks for this recipe!
I made these on Saturday and they turned out PERFECT. I used a 3D printed cookie cutter with an embossed image. AMAZING!! Thanks so much for sharing your incredible tips and recipes. Love!!!
These are so good! Nice and tender yet set up. Not to sweet which makes sense because the icing is sweet enough. Perfect edges. I made heart shaped for Valentine’s Day.
Second batch is in the oven!! Fantastic recipe!! I sell my royal iced cookies and am always on the look out for a good sugar cookie recipe. This one is my fav so far, and I’ve tried a LOT of them!! Subscribed and liked!!😄🇨🇦
So just tried this recipe and it’s awesome !!! The cookies kept their shape and the flavor was just perfect. Not too sweet, just right :)! Thank you !!!
Made half a batch just now. Tastes good and not too sweet - just what I was looking for since it'll be finished with royal icing. I added 1/8tsp lemon oil and a healthy pink of minced lemon rind. This one is for the books. 👍🏼
Of all the baking videos I watch I find yours are the best. You have a way about you that makes learning fun and I don't feel so overwhelmed when trying a new recipe.. Looking forward to making these and Thank You for so many wonderful treats. My family Thanks you as well. Happy Baking, Christine from AZ.
Thank you, this is my favorite go-to recipe for Sugar Cookies and I get orders for these cookies from my co-workers. I recommend Preppy Kitchen to everyone. Sending best wishes from Brisbane, Qld.
I am legally blind and just found your channel love how you describe the way you're doing the recipes keep up the good work thank you very much will definitely be trying some of your recipes and watching more of your videos
I will DEFINITELY be making these for Christmas! My husband is a huge sugar cookie fan and I don’t like too many of the recipes out there because of the spread so they’re kinda sad to decorate lol. These look perfect!
Every single recipe that i have made of yours have been a huge success, when i need to bake something new i alway google for your recipes. Cookies are baked, already watched the icing video ahead for tommorrow. Thank you for sharing
I really enjoyed making your sugar cookies last night 01122022, I have tired 2 other recipes and they both were duds. Yours came out wonderful and I will keep your recipe and make them again in the future. I enjoy watching your different items and I have tried a few , but in the future I will try many more. I live in northern Florida in Freeport, Fl.
Thanks so much for sharing this delicious recipe!!! I made these and decorated them with royal icing (recipe from your channel as well)for a bake sale and they sold out in half an hour!!! ❤
I'm here for your latest video, I love your videos and your channel is awesome! I have my bestie watching you with her kids now. The kids are interested in cooking so I had them wanting to watch your foodie videos. Thanks for sharing your recipes with us!
I made these yesterday and they came out perfect, what a great recipe! 12 minutes the was perfect baking time as well, light on top with a slight brown on the bottom. This will absolutely be my new go-to recipe. :)
So I made these a few days ago, and they are everything you promised and more. This was the easiest sugar cookie dough to work with. My cookies were so defined, too bad my decorating skills would land me on Nailed It. Thank you!
That's what i plan on doing to. Also want to make mine into a sandwich and in the middle put my strawberry caramel. It's for a cookie contest hope i win 😉
I made this cookies for friend wedding. This was a hit. Everyone loved it. So easy to make. This is the best recipes out of all the ones i tried and failed. Thank you so much!
The Queen Victoria Herend caught my eye - I’m a collector myself and that is my favourite Herend pattern. Would love to see more of your collection! Thanks for this video I’m keen to try making some cookies for Christmas 😊
Stop looking now!! This is hands down the best no spread sugar cookie recipe!! My only issue I had was even after refrigerating the dough it was a little difficult to move the cookie to the sheet without the shape distorting a little, but that wasn't an issue for the particular shape I was using and my house is on the warm side. Cookies kept their shape and they taste AMAZING!
I had low expectations for these cookies, but they're fantastic. I'd say they're a bit better tasting than the Williams Sonoma recipe, but much easier to make.
I've just come back to testify :). I made these cookies - first time ever baking cookies. They turned out excellent, no spreading, crisp but soft. I did add a little lemon zest for an extra oomph. Thanks for the amazing recipe.
4 cups of all purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon of salt 1 cup of corn starch 1 cup of unsalted room temperature of butter 1 cup of granulated sugar 2 room temperature eggs A couple teaspoons of vanilla (u can use other things in that category) Plastic wrap Fridge Flour Shape cutters (not needed but recommended) Oven
Hi is this recipe where you reworked it for better results? I used his original recipe it crumbly and not great tasting. I'm confused after reading so mixed results from the same recipe. I hate hit and miss recipes. I had to cream more butter add more sugar and extract to not was my ingredients 🙃
Hi John, this recipe is perfect! It was my first time trying sugar cookies and I'm amazed at how well they turned out. The shapes stayed intact, they did not spread one bit and the taste was beyond delicious! So excited to try more of your recipes!! Thank you ❤️
I used twice the flour that you said to put in cornstarch bc I didn’t have any and they still had a super clean cut and did not spread! I also used brown sugar and desi ghee in a separate batch and they turned out amazing!! In both batches I didn’t even put the dough in the fridge and still they didn’t spread and they had a clean cut! Thank you sm for such a perfect and easy recipe!!
I tried this last week. OMG!!! that’s Awesome 👏 the taste is really delicious.the dough is Amazing not sticking on my hand and easy the roll . Thank you so much for the tips corn starch. Before I don’t like to make cookies but now I really love to make cookies . Thank you so much John I really appreciate you. God’s bless you and your family 🙏❤️🤤👍🍪
Hi John & Brian! I love the no-spread cookie recipe I have made for the last couple of years but I lost it. I jumped on the website today, printed a recipe and - oops - half way through I saw that it was the wrong one! The recipe I made before used cornstarch, just like this video. I don't know why I can't find that recipe now - just wondering if you decided this was not a good way to go? Thank you for everything. I will just adapt your yummy sugar cookie with no cornstarch - they are delish but I was looking for little sharp edges using mini fall cutters.
It’s the same recipe but he modified it in September- swapping out the cornstarch for the baking powder. Not sure why. I was wondering the same thing and then realized he changed the recipe on paper but the video still says corn starch…
ACK!!! I can't believe you break your eggs directly into the bowl!! What if they are bad, or you get egg shell in there?!!?!?! My mother would have your hide! Great recipe, my friend.
