thank you buddy for the effect, question when finished the first clip and editing and i begin to do the second i ran into issu whatever i did with the first appears on the second on fusion
I’m so happy I found your channel you make it easy to understand davinci ... I appreciate your help you have no idea . I have davinci 14 and I only used it for a week and gave up .. I wiped the dust off of it now I’m getting the hang of it. Thank you...
Thank you so much. I'm pretty new to video editing and I've ben trying with several other turorials to get this effect, but failed. Then I saw yours and it worked the first time, I tried. That means your tutorial is the best. You really made my day. Thanks again.
Great tutorial, Jay. Thank you! Quick question - if a person is wearing different colors than your black/grey/etc. would those particles be those colors?
Brilliant tutorial, you have no idea how much im learning from you, been at this video editing for 3 weeks with no prior experience, and ive just put a video out with glitch intro and outro, with me talking to my alter ego after i cloned myself. :-)
I am having a hell of a time wrapping my head around how to work this program. A.E. made some sense to me. Seems a lot people are having a hard time with this. This is not easy.
Hey Jay! When I created a 2nd fusion clip, the same fx popped up on that one that I had put on the 1st one. When I deleted the nodes from the 2nd one that were there, the original clip lost all of the fx I had added. Do you know what I'm doing wrong or how to fix that?
Thanks for watching! And to answer your question, you either have to become really good at time management, or really good at operating on way too little sleep.
Hey Jay. I tried using this tutorial in DaVinci resolve 18. Guess what... I didn't do so well LOL. Would you consider doing a particle effects video in 18?
Hi Jay, another great tutorial, thank you. I have a question though. When using the BSpline1 tool and tracing round the object am dissolving, and I connect BSpline1 to the mediaIn1, I don't end up with removing everything except what am dissolving all I can see are the trace lines and I cannot explain why? :-(
Great Tutorial Jay, How do you feel about doing a Page Curl (from any corner of the Source Video) Transition, which is easily adjustable for use in displaying Images as if you're looking thru a book ? BillyY
Great Tutorial I luv your content. I was wondering if there is a way in Davinci to do this sort of effect but instead of individual particles could this sort of effect be tweaked so that the subject would dissolve (from/to) a liquid. If you know how could you do a Tutorial on that?
Hi Jay thanks for the amazing tutorial you da best man I'm just curious as to what are the specs of your laptop; fusion seems to be pretty terrible at efficient RAM usage, my system hit 22GB (out of 32) of system memory usage when using this particle dissolve effect on 5 second still 1080p footage.
Yeah fusion is pretty heavy, especially in the free version of Davinci Resolve. The paid version installs a driver that allows for better balance between CPU and GPU. My laptop definitely isnt the best. I've overloaded my GPU a few times.
I realize I'm late to the party but I had some issues following your directions. When you went on to work with your 2nd fusion clip you had a blank fusion node field. When I did it, no matter what I tried I had all the previous nodes from the actual particle effects staring at me. Can you help me understand?
didn't dissolve , had the particles but didn't dissolve , also when we went onto clip 2 , I highlighted the clip in the edit but when in fusion the old one was still there so I pulled the fusion clip 2 from the media and followed your instructions ( although the other nodes were still present) and when you say save , do you mean go to file and save as I cannot see what you are doing ?
Hi Jay! Great stuff! I tried this one though and could not seem to get it right. Got to the part with the particle mask and that was great. Then went on to clip 2 and it already had the particle mask applied. I tried a few different things to make the 2nd clip come out with no nodes but it would not work. Any Advice?
@@JayLippman hi Jay. I copied the original clip. Just like you did. Then clicked on the top copy and added the particles. Clicked save, then went on to clip 2 or 1. Clicked on it and when I went to the fusion page, the node tree I had applied to clip one was already there. I deleted it and it deleted it from both.
Hey Jay, thanks for the video! In my project I have an image and I set up the particle render on fusion clip 3, when I switch to fusion clip 2, I still have all the nodes. Whereas you seem to have a clean slate changing clips. What might I have done wrong??
Never mind. after stepping away for a couple weeks, I rewatched the video and figured out I needed to select the clips from the "Clips" window inside Fusion.
@@hillcrestchristianchurch6040 ive got the same problem. Can you explain into more details because i downloaded davinci just a day ago. So i click ( select) on the clips from the clips window in fusion and what next?
Hi Jay. Thx for the video. Nice with some basic tutorials for us with little time (and skills 😝). I had a problem though with particles disolving from the whole screen (did your tutorial twice to make sure). Ended up putting in a transform (seen in the video logo disolve ... by chris’ tutorials) where I zoomed in and it worked. I will probably look back later in life and say “I was so stupid then✌️🙉” thx again/Soren
How do you save what you did on the fusion page before you go back on the edit page? Sorry I have just downloaded the davinci resolve 16 hence I have no idea on how to do things.😥
Hi, this tutorial is awesome! However, I am experiencing a problem with it. Maybe you have a solution? So the problem is that when I edit Fusion clip 1, Fusion clip 2 copies all the edits. Same the other way around. I can't do the two independent edits because the clips copy the edit of the other. Keep up the good work, and I hope you might have the solution.
@@JayLippman im not, so that is not the problem. I have figured it out tho. I just have to place the fusion clips next to eachother instead of on top of eachother when editing:)
Dear Brother can you make a tutorial on explaining the function of node like , PimageEmitter, Pturbulance, PEmitter and so on. But pls aware too many information will confuse the beginners...thanks.
This is a great tutorial, BUT whilst I appreciate you teaching us these great things I'm wondering if this dissolving effect can be tweaked so that on body parts that are not there anymore the dissolving should disappear or stop?
How many times did you have to chase Marty out of the empty scene? lol Speaking of which, for your empty scene, can you just use a still? Or do you have to record an empty space for the entire duration of your effect?
Marty was actually very well behaved for this lol. I prefer to film the blank plate instead of taking a photo. That way the resolution is the same, and I don't have to bother with cropping anything or re sizing. Plus, it just looks more natural that way.
@@JayLippman thanks for the swift response. I can't wait to see what wonderful news you have in stock. Just downloaded it today and will be playing around with the some videos.
@@JayLippman looking for like set Extension they're not too many RU-vid tutorial with Davince Resolve doing effects like after-effects and if they do, they don't really show a good example with you You make it look easy and you explain it very well
Hi,every time I finish the first fusion clip and try to go to the second it carries the nodes to the next fusion clip.I have tried it several times. Any help, please? The first clip is ok.
charles try to put the 1st fusion clip that you've done beside the 2nd clip so that it wont block the 2nd fusion clip, then once the 2nd fusion clip editing done, put the 1st and the 2nd clip on they're oirginal position. I experience the same thing
So many tuts on this though I've yet to see anyone work out a reliable way to give it depth so the subject being dissolved isn't just some two dimensional surface
@@JayLippman Yes for a starting it point it is good. I've toyed with displacements, duplicate layers, cutouts, etc but all seem to get subpar results? Well subpar vs the most important factor for me: time investment. Bit of a creators curse problem though as I'm comparing this to what a full process is capable IF you have a 3D model base and use something like houdini to quite *literally* simulate disintegrating the subject.
There is a great tutorial by VFX Study (I think that's the channels name) that shows you how to do this in a 3D space that might give you the look you're going for.
@@JayLippman Yup that's his "Thanos" version talked to him about it too when that tut came out. A prospect to what i'm researching is a great post over at wesuckless forums: "3D Face Morph Rig Prototype" by intelligent machine. That technique uses a 3D "mannequin" with a depth ?channel? to create 2.5D parallax for human faces from 2D photos similar to what a commercial after effects plugin does. ( So i'm not linking in your channel here's the viewtopic queries ?p=18669#p18669 . There is a demo fusion comp in the '3d face generation' thread ?p=16499#p16499 . )
Every time I finish the first fusion clip and try to go to the second it carries the nodes to the next fusion clip🤦♂️ is this a glitch? Anyone else have this problem?
@@JayLippman I did all the steps and it still wasn't working. I made a green screen video and edited it in iMovie and then put it Resolve to make the effect. It still wasn't working
Great suggestion! If I ever put out a full-blown editing course, I'll definitely include the video clips for people to download, but I'm not sure if I'll do that for tutorials.
@@freejay3 I think this is a great 10 minute version. You can check out the 1hr version on vfxStudy. Not sure how to avoid the mask. ImageEmitter won't quite get you there if you have movement.
@@JayLippman haha good try bro. You have a video copying my "modern decoder glitch" to a tee. The exact same effects in the exact same way, it's like you watched my video then made your own. Now this?!?! The exact same effect from VFXstudy?!?! Your a troll that obviously doesn't have the talent or the program knowledge to make his own content. You arent fooling anyone
I'm sorry you feel that way man. I'm not trying to copy you or anybody else. Im not into drama. I'd be happy to discuss this over DM if you want and hash this out. Just let me know.

@@ShellShockedFarms I found the problem, when you go to fusion click on clips it will show them on the lower left of the page it was still highlighting the top clip so had to just change it and it worked
