Welcome Rebecca, you are definitely in the right place here. We don't even have to call them "easy" anymore. It's the most rewarding feeling when you find plants that love you as much as you love them. They're out there!! Happy Planting 🪴

I completely agree with you. These plants must spark joy. They are a lot of work to care for. The work has to be satisfying work that brings refreshment.

Rachael....yes...and yes!! It's amazing once you lean into that, you can no longer tolerate anything that doesn't spark joy. One day, I'll get more philos, but for now...no bueno.

As with the aquarium hobby, wherever u stick something in water, there's a possibility of algae, that white fuzz is called white hair algae, u just wash it off, change the water, n stick it back in. 😁

Thanks so much Yvette!! I live in Ontario on Georgian Bay and Philodendron of every type seem to like it here But I struggle with easy plants like Chinese evergreen and calathea. They just don't like me!

Fascinating! Monstera usually are fine unless you overwater. Philodendron Brazil are a trip! They will do fantastic but water it too much and it will spiral into decline and it is hard to pull it out of decline!

Robert!!! You said a mouthful there. I just don't know about them rascals (philos), they turned on me quick. I thought we were friends 🤷🏽‍♀️. Chile I know now. Keep it casual 🤣

I noticed that I get some mold in my soil for the plants that aren’t getting enough lights. Grow lights resolved that. My struggle plants are Hoya gracillas, the pink princess and friends (creator put hers in pon and no more yellowing leaves). That’s inconsistent watering and being a deva lol. I think sometimes we get a plant that is just difficult but another of the same type is not

I agree, some pots are just the debil 🤣. I love Philos, so I will most likely buy again (mayb not the Brasil 😡), but definitely the Neon heartleaf and the Moonlight. I think I'll try self-watering pots. I honestly think that's what is keeping my green heartleaf alive. Thanks for the tip, the mold was freaking me out cause that was new soil.

You may have to used Reverse Osmosis Water. Increase air circulation. In the summer I place sick plants outdoors for a while. My struggle plant Aglaonema Chocolate. If this one died I’m not buying another. 🪴Happy Planting🌿

I have 10 varieties of pothos but my neon is my problem.No matter what I do it's not happy.Its going in the bin soon.Your philo Brasil looks like it's not getting enough light.I keep mine in my southern window and it grows like a weed and very bright colors.

Me and that Brasil have parted ways....it hated it here. I really wanted the Neon and settled for the Brasil...then a couple weeks later, found the Neon hearleaf. Now I have killed them both 🥴. After I lick my wounds, I will try again with the Neon since it was the one I really wanted and stop settling for plants that I'll tolerate. Thanks for the tip though. I will keep that in mind when I try again.

Mona....they did me so dirty. Just dead dead, for no reason at all. I'm gonna focus on the ones that love me for now, but I will have more philodendrons in my home again. A girl can dream🥴

All them pink and white Philo royalty are dead to me. I just can't with them. TBF, I've never owned them, but I took one look and knew they would hate it here.🤣

I heard that Bella albo is difficult to root. Someone suggested distilled water

I tried the pothos propagation trick and everythnig....she is not having it🤷🏽‍♀️. I had success with sphagnum moss and the hoya Louis Bois, so maybe I'll try that, but that yellowing stem doesn't give me much hope. I do have some distilled water, so maybe I'll try that first. I'll let you know if she pulls through.

The fungus at the top usually means it was overwatered and the soil stayed wet at the top too long. A spritz of alcohol will kill tthe mold. Philo's want a loose well draning soil.

My Brasil looks good now, but it struggled for the first few months I had it. In terms of “easy” plants, I caNOT keep jade alive. 😑

I love that for you Dawn. I think the Brasil are beautiful plants. Now with my Jade, I'm finding success with a smaller one that I have propagated to get fuller. I've killed several in my lifetime, but this one is doing well so far. In fact, her cuttings this year are thriving. But I get how they can steer you wrong. I had a variegated one that broke my heart into a million pieces. I'll get another one though
