Would've been a quick fix had you not had to wait on parts to come. Thats called "LIFE" ..glad your back up and running and wishing your wife a speedy recovery.
The centrifugal clutch bearing went out right after this. Lesson learned. Once one bearing goes out, change them all. $80 in bearings every two years, is not a big deal. I think this will be my new rule.
Hi Tony. There is a product called cotton picker spindle lube and detergent. It’s a water emulsifier oil based concentrate you add to water and it’s super slick as snot. I add only two ounces per gallon of water. It cost me around $40 for a five gallon bucket of concentrate that will probably last the rest of my life. Not only does it keep the blade cool and cuttin like butter but It’s much cleaner with saw dust gunk build up on the blade guides and the interior of the band saw housing compared to soap or diesel. Happy cutting!
I think I am going to add the new engine right now and not wait. The centrifugal clutch bearing is failing, so this is the best time to upgraded engines.

You are welcome. The hits keep coming. The centrifugal clutch bearing went out. I broke the pulley trying to take the clutch off the shaft. I have never seen one seized up like that before. The clutch is out of stock a the moment.

@@TonysTractorAdventure Well, most engines like that run 3600 rpm or so, so I would say it simply won't bog down or the clutch/blade will slip. Watch your tension I guess? Is that a different size shaft? 7 hp is usually 3/4" shaft while 18 hp would be 1" or bigger. So you'll need a bigger clutch I suppose?
Thank you, my friend. I fixed this and the centrifugal clutch bearing went out on the next log. I am going to change out all of the bearings and be done with it for a year or so. $80 worth of bearings every year or so is not a lot to ask for what I cut on it.
I'm confused....doesn't the diesel fuel ruin the lumber? We might have to talk sometime about this when I come see ya buddy! Edit: Not only will the diesel ruin the lines and seals in a tank meant for soapy water....but won't it break down your belts inside the mill itself? I'm very curious about this setup
I have not had problems with the belts or ruining the lumber. I use water on hard woods, but I have found nothing that works better than diesel on Southern Yellow Pine. Many big time sayers use diesel on pine. I am only cutting for myself, so it is OK if it smell like diesel for a few days.
Nice upgrade Tony. I've not tried diesel fuel yet. If I go to diesel it appears you'll have to do what you did. Question. Do you ever see any degradation to the belts or slipping of the saw blade with diesel?
The belts seem to hold up fine. To this point, the hose does not like diesel. I am changing out everything. I have a lot of cuts on this sawmill. I am replacing the belts and all the bearings. I should have done that all at once instead of replacing one here and one there.
I was cutting Southern Yellow Pine. The diesel helps cut the sticky goo. I don't recommend it for this sawmill any longer. It eats the belts up fast. I end up using water and cleaning up my sawmill more.
You must spend a fortune in diesel! I've a Cook's sawmill and only run about 1 drip per second on pine, less on hardwoods. Enjoy the videos, I like folks that's doin'.
Tony nights upgrade good idea also I like you to get ahold of Mike Morgan from Morgan's Morgan's Outdoors let him know about that concrete that you used for your pole barn he's getting ready to put up a flagpole and mixed concrete and I think those little bags would be a whole lot easier for him to do it with that then mix in it but that's up to you okay my name is Bob live in Vero Beach Florida God bless have a great day I hope your wife gets well soon and happy holidays
