Ok for video but I think if you are on budget super speed is not all you need... The cheapest apsc solution is a 18-55mm kit lens which probably you already own, instead of a fisheye lens buy a budget pano head. With a 24 megapixel sensor, shooting at 18 mm 12x3 rows at -45° 0° +45° your final stitch will be about 450 megapixel...
@hughhou
@hughhou Год назад
A budget pano head cost at least $150 lol. The fisheye was on sale for $110 or less. Having a fisheye lens not only for 360 photography but the pano head you can only use it for 360 photography. So I think spending money on lens is better way to go. But I totally see your point. Also, send the fisheye is so wide - you don't even need PTGui to stitch. The free Hugin can do it as well easy. Not sure taking that many roll of photos will be easy :(
@Amil_Developer
@Amil_Developer Год назад
@@hughhou I forgot mentioning I love your very high quality contents, my comment hasn't to be intented as bad critique ;) The point is what "on budget" refers to. If you are a professional for sure you already have lots of clients\jobs per day. And if your client want a "on budget" solution ... the faster solution is the way to go. But if you are on budget because you are a beginner or simply enthusiats probably if you spend half an hour (even more) per single panorama dosen't matter. At least for me, shooting big roll of photos, with panohead and camera remote, is easy and not that time consuming. I found also a way to completely (and easily) remove the tripod during the stitching. In my 2 cents experience, Hugin (and usually free stitching software) is very slow and makes tons of alignent errors. Microsof ICE is fast but not always that accurate. I use Panorama Studio Pro, is good enought and is only €39.95 ... PTGui is 185€ ... I can save 145€ LOL It stitches big rolls of images without a problem and no errors, masking is also very powerfull. There is no built in hdr but you can swap the entire set of images ad reuse the prevuois control points. You will ended up with a set of bracketed 360 full panoramas. Then, I prefer manual blending in Gimp which is surprisingly able to manage lots of layers, even if they are 450 megapixels images. While Photoshop crashes. Using the fisheye lens you are wasting lots of pixels (40% ? ) of your sensor, is clearly visible, its a cirle image into a rectangle. Also image quality is always better at center, so more images you stitch lesser problems you will have, because you are cutting out the "bad" borders pixels. bye :)

Hello Hugh, Thanks for your videos. What is your advice between "7Artisans 4mm f2.8" and "TTArtisans 7.5 f2" for interior house virtual tour with APS-C format ? .... and why ?

7.5 as the resolution is higher and less fisheye shaper the images

Hi Hugh, you provided most informative videos for virtual tour photographers. I watched your virtual tour related videos multiple times. I just want to understand which lens and camera duo will work best for single row panorama head with best resolution possible. Using 4mm/7.5mm on full frame will reduce the effective resolution. I assume TTA 7.5mm + Sony a6400 or TTA 11mm + Sony A7iii with 4 points will give the better resolution and image quality. Correct me if I'm wrong

Thanks for the great information and sharing your videos! How does a full frame/apsc panorama compare to a panorama shot with an Insta360 pro 2? I’m guessing a high end camera produces great images but the cost is often more than the Insta360 pro 2 which may be good enough. For a beginner I also like the Insta360 workflow better than having to use ptgui.

@@Amil_Developer Hi, I didn't find stitching defects with hugin with jpeg: 12 photos with meike 8mm f/3.5, on sony a6000 (you can change the stitching points) the slowness depends on the power of the computer, the interface is complicated (for a oldboy of 54 years like me), I installed the trial version of Panorama Studio Pro and I like it very much, and I will probably buy it. Although I recently bought the insta one 360 1inch. this new and cheap wide angle intrigues me a lot.
@Amil_Developer
@Amil_Developer Год назад
@@Simo68- Usually I shoot 40 photos with 18mm lens at f9 and manual focus: 12 x 3 row + 1 for sky + 3 for tripod remove. Hugin produce poor results, the same image set on Panorama pro or Ptgui produce perfect results and way faster. On the same potato pc :D tip if you shoot bracketed: there is no built in hdr but you can swap the entire set of images and reuse the previous control points. First align a bright set of images, then swap to another set, redo the rendering (not re align). Even the darkest image will be correctly aligned and stitched. Resulting multi exposure full panoramas will perfectly overlap and can be manually blended.

Hi Hugh.. I watched your previosly uploaded video suggesting to shoot with a TTartisan 7.5mm f/2 lens with a A7R4 along with the Nodal panoramic head.. But here you are suggesting to shoot with 7artisans 4mm f/2.8 fisheye lens. If compared between the two What would you suggest for better Quality and Sharpness. (If compared between the output of 7artisans 4mm f/2.8 vs the TTartisan 7.5mm f/2 lens) as both lens costs the same. But what about the quality, effective 360 resolution and ease to shoot.. What's your suggestion on this.. Please advice... Thanks in advance.. 😇

Im using the 7Artisans 4mm on Micro Four Thirds. Ive tried it on a Lumix G80 and Lumix GF6, but each time I seem to be getting quite soft images from it. The Lumix G80 on starting the camera sees it as a manual lens and asks what the focal length is, when I go to set that is only goes a low a 8mm. Could this be a reason images appear soft? Camera on a tripod in good light at f8, electronic shutter and self timer. Im Puzzled ?;( or is it naturally quite soft?

best lens for quick full frame 360s on a sony full frame (and some other mirrorless mounts) is still a shaved off samyang 8mm f2.8 II. The lens in the video wastes too much resolution without any real advantages. Putting that lens on an a1 is ridiculous (even for demonstration) and we can get better results with the sammy and a a74 (or even a73 and any other 24mp+ mirrorless camera), for less than half the price of the whole setup. including a cheap one row semi-dyi head without any need for plates or additional quick release modules. Cheap pano head with an L shaped bracket is also better than a rotator with a quick release plate in every way. And a 300 dollar tripod? Really? You dont need that whatsoever. This is neither cheap nor easy and honestly hard to understand. I wouldnt be making "tutorial" videos if i didnt know what i was doing. Do you?
