I've looked at several quick release mechanism by other you tubers and I have come to a conclusion your plywood version is simple and probably easiest to build. I will be ordering your plans soon as I can get out of the house (corona virus ) to buy some supplies. I would love to b of better support but I have to join with the low ball as I'm on a limited income. Sorry but 12$ a year is best I can do right now. I Wii join soon as I get help from my son. BTW I love your photos.

Hi Neil, i bought your plans for the workbench build mainly for the quick release vice. just completed my build and i have to say it was worth every cent. the plans are clear concise and having watched your video as well it was a fun project. the main thing i had to change was to find a new pin placement for the pin that the quick release unlocks against as i did not have rare earth magnets. the magnets i had were a bit weaker so once i had the pin placement a little shallower it worked like a dream. Thanks very much for all your inspiring ideas. Regards, Patrick in South Africa.

Sorry I could only give one 👍on top. This is great. I drew up a push button half nut vise but haven't built it yet because I knew I'd stumble across a simpler one handed vise mechanism and you done the stumbling for me. That one pup reminded me of my late Jack Russell that died at 17 years old. Until he got to old to carry anything he always had something in his mouth hoping to find anyone who would play fetch with. His teeth were worn flat from finding rocks that he wouldn't abandon. I made him a fancy pine casket and all the nearby kids showed up to help dig his grave.

Great video, I bought the plans and I'm in the process of making a pair of mechanisms to convert my existing shop made twin screw vice. I'm using 3/4" threaded rod as that's what the existing vice was made with. When I assembled them the nut released as it is designed to do but wouldn't re-engage. After a little head scratching I added a second magnet on top of the first, that fixed it and works great! Suggest you add a note to the plans that if the nut doesn't re-engage try a bigger magnet. My first magnet had 9 lb of strength not much less than the one you used which I believe is 9.5 lb.

Im attenpting to watch your video over and over again to mak a mack up of plans of my own and my goodness its hard. You really have no good shots but i know the threaded bar is 24mm and you cut the slider holes at 28mm. But the middle piece that holds the half nut, the little back arm goes up at an angle instead off parallel with the center on the nut. Thats where im stuck like im missing something.
