My favorite use if blue painters tape....it is efficient timewuse as far as marking. When I am sewing on my Bernina, use the multi stitch zigzag with an elon gated stitch which gives a beautiful serpentine stitch. Thanks for all your ideas.

Great job! The animal print reminds me of a fabric line I used about 25 yrs ago that I made crib sheets, comforter and crib bumper pads out of. Funny thing is I just thought about that yesterday after all this time, then here is a video..lol. Thank you for sharing!😊

Both quilt a beautiful. You do beautiful work. Using painter's tape is a great idea. I have never tried it for quilting. Do I need to open the windows to use 505 basting spray?I have used Elmer's School glue to baste a quit. I made tiny dots of glue and set it with a hot iron. It was still a lot of work; and, I have worried about the school glue not washing out. The parts I hate the most about making a quilt are making the quit sandwich, and quilting. It makes my back, neck, arms, and shoulders hurt for days after.

Nice work! I’m curious about how long each stage of the process took (roughly is fine), if you’re happy to share? I know these are only small quilts but I seem to have a mental block about how long quilting especially will take. I get them pin-basted then put off quilting because I feel like it’s going to take about 30-40-50-80 hours! Even doing something simple like straight lines. Do you have a reality check for me? Ta

Do you have a width gauge? Not sure if that’s the correct name but it’s what I would always use to get a consistent measurement off that first line of stitching. For me, it is much easier than moving the tape.

I don't. There is some shrinkage...but I don't think it affects the quilt too much.

Not usually because everything will shrink together after being quilted. Usually prewashing is used for garment sewing. Sometimes the less expensive red or black fabrics may need to be checked for fading by taking a strip and putting it in a glass jar of very hot water and let it set for awhile. If it does fade, it might be best to invest in better quality fabric.

I always pre-wash my flannel because, it has been my experience, flannel shrinks at a different rate than the quilt top and the batting. Over the length of three yards of flannel, I lose about a foot.

It looks like you sewed the quilt sandwich diagonally in only one direction. Other videos have showed you quilting diagonals in both directions. What made you choose only one direction this time? Thanks!

I heard from SewVeryEasy that now, they are saying to sew all in the SAME direction, to eliminate puckers....the rules keep changing, since I began to quilt in 2000!
