It's so comforting hearing you say that you also fell into common mistakes such as not working in frees during Y1 of 6th form, knowing that you got 3 A*'s. It always seems like students who get A*A*A* must be working at 100% all the time, it really shows that there is no reason you can't work hard *now* to achieve your goals.
It wouldn’t hurt but if u didnt its okay. My chemistry teacher said that last year a student got a D at the end of year 12 but managed to get an A* at the end of sixth form so if you really try your best you can fix it
Might come back later so I'll just leave this here. - Compile your notes neat and early - Make resources easily available - Make summary cards - Stick to deadlines - Try to avoid/ reduce working when exams are coming - Plan things to do in free time - Actively research what you don't understand - Contribute in class - Revise for in-class tests
Ruby your results show when you test yourself... do exam questions the next day.. see if you improved and if not then you need some revision techniques updates
latte macchiato yeah, thanks. I think it’s more to do with the quantity of revision I have to do y’know, because it’s such a big load the amount I get through just feels really small in comparison
Hi, I am a new youtuber and I have just uploaded a video talking about my 3 favourite methods of cramming revision that hekp you learn stuff really quickly, and the information sticks too. I think this would really help you to spend less time revising and more time actually taking information in and fully understanding it! I hope everything goes well for you, when are your exams? Are you doing GCSEs or A-Levels? ru-vid.com/show-UC5liSY1Hhs3BeRkYsolXcywfeatured
My school think it's effective to give 7-10 hours homework per subject in oyr second year, EXCLUDING revision and I - 😑 I really dislike the system but you gotta deal. 6 more months, 6 to go!!
Oh my God, I saw the title and I screamed in sheer joy and relief. I needed this, although most of my exams are in summer (please save me from A Level Politics!) My last business exam (the real thing) is in 7 days and looking through the grade boundaries are high every damn year.
Kaliyah Bower as someone who got an A* in business a level the best thing you can do is not treat topics in isolation! You’re taught a syllabus for a reason, referring to other topics in responses and evaluation sections of 8/12/20 markers boots your marks so much!! It shows you understand the topics in a broader context and have actually came to terms with the information as opposed to learnt a textbook :) x
Thanks so much for this video Jack. I'm in Year 13 and I just did my mock exams before xmas. My results were AAC. Obviously I'm very pleased with two out of three, but the C has really shaken me, particularly because it was in English Literature, which is what I've applied to study at uni. While I admit I didn't exactly spend 14 hours a day revising for my mock, I still did revise thoroughly and I just feel like I've hit a brick wall in the subject. I don't know how to improve my revision significantly, as I already have a coherent, organised approach. Your video has settled my nerves however and shown me that there's always time to change, and I know I just need to remain positive. You really are the best.
Jack, as somebody in the same year as you, you're honestly really inspirational. The genuine care that you have for your subscribers, and the time you invest in helping them do as well as they are capable of doing, shines through. Big respect for you x
3:01 - 3:10 - About ending up teaching yourself instead of revising the concepts of the topic. I'm out of uni now, but a tutor once said to make sure you have a good grasp of the concepts covered during class/lecture/tutorial before leaving that day- this way, you don't have to teach it again to yourself come exam period. this also means that whatever concepts or ideas to come in the next class will make sense. Best way to do so is to participate in class actively - this means asking questions and publicly expressing your thoughts in class - this way if you are looking at something the wrong way, the tutors can point you to the right direction.
MY OWN NOTES: 1. organise your notes ---- make neat notes and divide them into files 2. make ur resources now while the knowledge is fresh 3. make summary cards as you go MAKE REVISION RESOURCES NOW 4. keeping on top of ur deadlines ---- do ur work on the day it is set! app: the homework app; academic diary planner 5. try not to work during the exam period 6. utilise your free periods ---- timetable in what u r going to do in those free periods 7. be an active researcher ---- take interest in ur subjects ---- research now 8. start contributing in class 9. revise for ur in class tests NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF A FRESH START!!!
aw love that - thank you!!! just give it everything you've got, but don't expect perfection - it's the best way to highlight the areas that need work and you SHOULDN'T be anywhere near perfect yet!
Thanks. This is really helpful for me. Especially that contributing part. Most of the time I'm embarrassed to even ask a question during class. Its something Ive been meaning to change for a while now😑😌
I don’t know whether it’s the tone of your voice or the advice in this video but watching this really calmed me down, I was freaking out over my mock exams and this video popped up in my recommended and now I feel so much better so thank youu so much
I highly appreciate how nicely Jack explains everything, it gives you hope that you won't fail this time. Being a student who has faced many such issues he has too faced, I find every advice so on point. Like you do it, and it solves the problem. Good work! Thanks!
I’ve been in such a bad routine lately, I’m doing my a-levels this year and this has totally motivated me to get loads done up until my exams! Thank you millions 😊
This video was really inspiring! My goal for this year is to be more consistent with my revision throughout the term, and to NOT begin studying three days before the test I kept asking myself "Why am I not recieving the grades I want?", and i realized that perhaps my habit of cramming has something to do with it. rip). I´m from Norway, so our grading system is a bit different, but essentially, a lot grades this year are final and some aren`t, therefore I have to work super hard these next months (which is scary considering I still have three years left of schoo!)
I actually want to get better grades so bad but I get distracted SO SO SO easily :/ .I remember before all these distractions, like my phone, I had the best grades in all my classes with an average of 7s to 9s ( A to A**) Now it’s changed to 6 - 7 (B to A )
Sampada Gurung same!! I always get distracted but I found an app called Forest and it forces you to not use your phone, or maybe you could put a screen time ban on? :))
This is the video I literally needed rn, Jack you’re a life saver -could not have clicked on this faster! I’ve been watching your videos for a while now, Jack, and I really hope you realise how amazing you are; I honestly hope you reach 100k soon because you really do deserve it more than anyone
this is genuinely going to massively help me, i’m in my final year of college and i only started late november due to being in hospital in september. tomorrow i’m going to go buy a planner, revision cards. thank you for inspiring me jack, it means the absolute world!! thank you!!
this is perfect for my fresh start! until January 10th when i realise that it’s just not gonna happen... thank you for a brilliant video though! i will try and incorporate them into my “new routine” :) xx
Arghhh I’m panicking so much for these exams, I didn’t have the best term last term and I didn’t do amazing in my mocks and I just stopped working and I couldn’t motivate myself to do it, I completely shut down, but now I’m pure panicking because everything is tangible and I don’t feel like I’m ever working hard enough or doing enough work. I don’t feel I have enough time to do my work, even though I quit all my extra curricular subjects too. Urgh nightmare. This was such a helpful video though Jack, and you saying you only started really working really hard and smartly in January made me feel much better. Thank you.
It's nice to hear anecdotes from your previous experiences with a certain topic such as revising for A-Levels. I think, reflecting on what you did and if that was the best thing or not and how you advise us to be different really helps. Keep it coming, thanks.
I'm in year 9, I'm already revising and watching these sort of videos. I'm really hoping to get at least one A* in my GCSE's, as I am already achieving grade 5 in most subjects. Your videos are so helpful. Thank you.
i’ve got gcse mocks in 2 days and i’ve done essentially NO revision,, this has actually motivated me,,, let’s see how much i can do in these last 2 days :))
It may be 1:00am right now, but I am about to sit down with my timetable and allocate specific tasks to my studies and frees. I think that might work for me.
Watching this in between writing paragraphs of my history essay. Great confidence boost because sometimes all this work just feels like such a drag and as if it doesn't even matter. But you're right; little bits here and there are so much easier!
I've just got rejected by Oxford. Right away I decided to concentrate on my A-Levels, get a brilliant result and happily go to my second choice university. Thank you for your video
Watched this while trying to write an essay for a subject I think I want to study at uni and it has motivated me so much and given me confidence in things I'm already doing (my folders are sooo organised) and given me ideas of how to get better. Thanks gap-year-trousers-Jack
I’m 4 months into year 12 and got ABC on my report and this is giving me hope😁 Jack please do another video on English Literature! I’m studying the Handmaid’s Tale, The Kite Runner and Songs of Innocence and Experience atm and only getting a C/B😞 My teacher is awful and I’ve already had 3! My paper is on protest writing.
I wanted to do some of these things that you mentioned in this video, but in this semester bc of so much problems that I had in the beginning of it , I couldn't achieve full Mark in all of my exams , but at least my grades still in A to B range... thank you so much , I'm gonna try your tips in the next semester, and I think it will came up with an A+ in all subjects 👍
Perfectly timed video! Very much needed and appreciated! Its comforting to hear that I'm not the only one who slacked with essay deadlines and work in their free slots. I'm right now doing my utmost to recover my procrastination with a project and presentation I have due this week. My second year in sixth form is most definitely teaching me in many aspects especially seeing the improvements I've made from first year, in a holistic manner so to say. Thank you for your genuine videos and tips! :) I can resonate with the research point you mentioned, however I end up browsing beyond the necessities and end up procrastinating. Considering the fact that my A'levels are languages, procrastination surely doesn't fit the criteria but.. slowly I'm working on it and improving. Thanks again for the video! :) Cheers from Malta by the way! *apologies for the lengthy comment😂
this is exactly what I needed to hear after having similar thoughts the last few weeks. I've finally made a PHAT excel to stay on top of what revision/notes I've done and hoping to be more on top of everything after my mocks are over (honestly wish I had this surge of motivation a month ago and then I wouldn't feel like i was gonna drastically fail these exams 😂😭)
My prelims/mocks start on Wednesday and I’m taking 6 subjects, I’ve got to teach myself 3 entire courses/subjects in less than a week and I’m so incredibly panicked it’s unbelievable, since I got all A’s last year it’s expected again and I’ve got no clue what I’m doing ahah this video came at a perfect time, I needed your calm presence😂
Of course you’re getting that 100K! I watch your vids but didn’t realise I haven’t subscribed! So that’s another to the count haha Love your videos, they’re so useful, keep it up!
Thank you so much for this! I’ve only got two GCSE’s this year, but it’s really really great to have the tips and turn them into a habit. Absolutely adore your channel! X
Happy new year! *I've always dreamed of living in the UK.* I'm currently a freshmen student here in the Philippines and hoping that someday, I'm gonna be able to reach that dream -- to live there and to have a decent work in order to support myself and to be able to payback my parents' hard work, love and care. I would love to go back here in this comment as soon as I already live that dream (goal) -- may be 4-5 years from now. I know that it will be a tough process but I do believe that if someone's really into something, there will always be ways to achieve it. I'm hoping for your success in life! Continue to inspire others to be strong, happy and independent. Lots of love and peace. :) #GodSpeed
I'm not doing A levels because I'm in the US but I will be starting University soon so these tips still help so much. Hopefully they help in the long run when I go to apply across the pond
Thank you for this video Jack! I have my mocks at the end of the month and my exams at the start of May, and I always start the hardcore revision from January. That way I can still put in effort but not burn myself out five months prior to exams and that seemed to work for my exams last year!
great video, I think its worth mentioning for a A levels and GCSE's to a lesser extent organising notes and making summary cards is invaluable because for A levels the courses are so detailed it becomes much easier when you come to revise when you know you wrote the key points about stuff in each topic, as it means you'll have no gaps in your knowledge and you'll be able to identify weaknesses. I'm in yr 13 and I wish i did this from the start of yr 12 :(
This is such a useful video thank you so much! The financial tip has definitely been useful as it’s something I’ve been debating due to the fact I’m in year twelve and was panicking about it interrupting with studies. Also congrats on 90K
@@amyrose4840 I currently work at Argos, and I'm seriously debating to quit but I think it is different for different people - it's about how well they can cope with various responsibilities and managing your time!
this is absolutely great. thank you so much for making this. I need to really take schoolwork seriously right now and this is incredibly helpful. thank you.
Much needed video! I'm Spanish and I'm currently studying the equivalent to Y13. I've always gotten straight A*s, but last term, my marks got quite a lot worse because I didn't take it too seriously, mostly due to my lack of motivation. However, now I must start revising for my Spanish A levels, which consist of 6 subjects and, you know, there is way too much content! Anyway, I'm gonna start applying your tips right now. Thanks for your encouragement, this has just boosted my confidence!
Currently Doing A2. With not great AS grades (BCC) that counted (because I’m in NI), doing my 3 subjects, Biology, Chemistry and ICT and repeats for each, I have a total of 12 exams in May/June and a coursework to do too. This is much needed
