I was suprised you did not mentioned de Mini pro 3, bur you already fixed it now😊 I wonder how you can fix a 5-hour timelapse with the Osmo action 3. Do you use an external power bank for this? Thanks for your nice and learning videos.

I shall shoot more hyperlapse videos. You have ignited the flame. But I must speak of your shirt which put me in mind of my dear friend, Ernest Hemingway. Ernest and I enjoyed many glasses of Scotch at Sloppy Joe’s Bar in Key West, Florida in another life of mine. In 1931-32 he asked me my opinion on various aspects of his soon-to-be published “Death in the Afternoon.” Ernest loved the excitement of the bull fighting arenas in Spain and put together a marvelous work. I let him know my feelings of the brutality of it all and I think it helped to temper his final draft. Working with him on this nonfiction work taught me much about fear and courage, metaphysics, and the meaning and essence of life. Cheers from Wisconsin, U.S.A. my friend.

Excellent video, Ian! I have been obsessed with timelapse, motionlapse, and hyperlapse starting with my GoPro Hero 4 Black, then the DJI Pocket 2, now the DJI Pocket 3, and of course the DJI Mini 4 Pro. Excellent tutorial, and amazing scenery. I loved the rolling fog and round-a-bout scenes. Getting the right amount of motion blur with ND filters is also fun. Thanks for sharing!

Appreciate seeing this demonstrated. As someone who hates editing video, this seems like somewhat of a compromise. I've never used waypoints before, but the idea of repeating missions over longer time periods gears itself nicely towards longer term projects. 👍

Air 2s does this also. I like doing a night hyperlapse with a longer shutter speed. I get some good light streaks.

Yes, Air 2S, Mavic 2 Pro and probably a few more. Their set-up is slightly different and I did a video on them a couple of years ago too... I bet car headlights look good with longer shutter speed at night 👍🏻👍🏻

Excellent video. Especially the explanation about interval. I would humbly suggest to be careful with place objects behind you. The fern was fighting for focus on your camera. Also, the rocking backward and forward didn't help the focus on your camera. Not a criticism. Just a helpful suggestion to make your videos easier to focus on you rather that what is happening on screen.

It may be "easy to setup", but it is much harder to master getting a great hyperlapse for scenes with different motion or lighting and weather conditions. It really takes a lot of practice and trial and error, which is probably why many don't use this feature more. Also the Mini 3 Pro also does hyperlapse (no waypoints).

If you have already saved a waypoints mission in ‘normal’ mode, can you then recall that mission and use it in hyperlapse mode, or do you have to record it through the hyper lapse mode to use it in hyperlapse mode?

I hadn't tried that but imagine you'll tap and drag the subject on screen to create the green box. Unsure if you'd do that before or after mapping the waypoints... I'll have a go 👍🏻

Can you get RAW pictures off of the SD card so you can do your own time lapse? I like the option of sending time lapse photos into Lightroom and then putting them into my editing timeline.

You get between 200 and 400 pictures.... That's a lot of processing! You get jpegs, not raws on the individual files..

Hi Ian, sorry a bit late to the party here I know. Had my mini 4 for nearly 12 months now and only recently started playing with Hyperlapse. One thing that annoys me and I'm not sure if it's something I'm doing or it's just an inherent problem due to the hyperlapse video being created from photographs is the complete difference in colour balance between a hyperlapse video and a regular video despite both being taken in the same flight. Is it a case of adjusting and matching the colour balance as best as possible in video editing software or are there steps we can take to help the two match better prior to flying? Thanks for another great educational video as always.

I do have a question; I bought the mini pro 4 and will use it on the great divide mountain bike route. What I hope to do, can’t find it so far and would like to ask you. I have seen the majority but I still would like to ask this question; I would like to film myself. The drone is hovering along the route. And it is on follow me mode. Is it possible to cycle along while the drone is following me? This while the drone stays where it is hovering. Is this possible? Menno from the Netherlands.👋👋

Yes. Maybe I need to do a little video on this, but all you need to do is have the drone up in the air, facing you, draw around yourself as a subject and choose POI. That locks the drone onto you but doesn't move the drone In any actual direction unless you move the sticks. So if you don't move any sticks, it will simply turn and follow you as you ride past. That's my theory anyway...

Sorry Ian but can you clarify the length variable please - the examples you show show a shot every 3 seconds and a length of 10 seconds which would give 3 shots in total however your footage is showing 250 shots being taken. Am I confusing this setting with something else? Cheers

No, length refers to the final, completed output video that is produced when all pictures spliced together by the drone to produce the Hyperlapse. So length of 10 seconds means 10 seconds at 25 frames per second, meaning 250 frames in total. 250 frames taken 3 seconds apart will therefore take 750 seconds or around 12 minutes to film, in order to produce that 10 second long output Hyperlapse. 👍🏻👍🏻

Easy; don't move the drone. Just use 'free' (the first "least useful" mode) and point the drone in the right direction and then don't touch the sticks whilst it does the hyperlapse :)

Hi! I fly Mini 4 pro+RC N2+ GALAXY TAB9 :) My new DJI Fly version is 1.13.5. Drone software 01.00.0500. When taking a hyperlapse, the program hangs after taking one photo and then the image becomes black and white. Does mini4pro with RC2 have the same problem? I have no problems with Hyperlapse on mini3pro with RC N1 :)

No, so it sounds like the Galaxy Tab can't handle the fast photo writeing perhaps? Or do you have a micro SD card in the drone that's not fast enough write speed? (needs to be over 90 Mb/s write)

@@IaninLondon Hello :) Thank you for noticing the issue Hiperlaps! Firstly, photos are saved on the drone's memory card, not on the tablet (in the case of the RC N2). I have the following cards: SanDisk Extreme and Extreme PRO 128GB - UHS-II/U3, A2. In my opinion, this is a problem of changes in the drone software version 01.00.0500. Nobody wants to confirm that they updated to version 01.00.0500 and successfully obtained hyperlapse :(

I’ve gone through a fair few tutorials and I’m slowly getting the hang of Hyperlapses on my Mini 4. It’s the first time that I’ve found a reason to use my filters during the day to try and keep the shutter open as long as possible. I really liked your projects of filming at different times of day and different seasons from spring to autumn. Cheers
