This is by far the best video on how to make lounge wear chic. I don't want my lounge wear to look like I just came from the gym or are going to the gym. I still want it to be classy and comfortable. Your examples hit those expectations on the head. Thanks for sharing.
Lovely ideas as usual. I’m retired so don’t necessarily need to dress up for a conference call but I have found that it does make you feel better to put something nice on and a little makeup doesn’t hurt either. It just makes you feel better about yourself while staying home alone.
I agree. I always put sunscreen on first thing in the morning, and while I'm at it, I put on a little powder, mascara, and lip color. It doesn't matter if I'm going out or not. This little bit of self-care helps me feel ready for the day. Lately, I've been also spritzing myself with cologne or wearing a scented lotion. No one else will smell it, but I find it lifts my mood.
Hanging on to my sanity by keeping up a routine. Walk and spin, get dressed for work with makeup and accessories and doing something “productive”. These outfits are great for WFH!
Alyssa, thank you for these tips. I'll be teaching from home starting next week...I want to be comfortable but still look professional. Your suggestions can be easily implemented. I like the idea of layering a twill or ponte jacket on top of a very comfortable knit dress...I can throw it on when I go "live" and take it off as soon as I'm done broadcasting. Also, a collared button down shirt is a staple in my closet, and I can do the same--wear a tank top to work around the house, and put on the shirt when I'm filming. My students are craving for a return to normalcy...I want to look like the teacher they remember! (PS--I already picked some eye-catching earrings to wear. That's something I had not thought of, but since the children are going to be seeing A LOT of my face, I figure cute earrings will give me a pretty frame!) Best wishes of health and strength to you and all your viewers.
My first few days of working from home I took full advantage of working from home and stayed in my jammies but then realized that it does network for me AT ALL. I realized that I need to get up and get ready for work like I normally do in order to be more productive. Thanks for sharing these tips! Very helpful!
There's no doubt about it, what you wear directly impacts your mood, not only that but your productivity too. I have found it so beneficial to stick to a routine of setting an alarm early, getting up, showered and making an effort with my style on a daily basis. Great video!
I love the fur vest. My grandma had one she wore for 20 years and when she passed it went to my cousin and I can’t express how comforting it is to see it still being worn.
You're one of the most stylish people I have ever come across. I love all the styles and all the photos, left and right. I feel that I can replicate the looks quite easily and without spending money and look put together but not "too put together". I am so happy I found your channel!
Same here!!! I absolutely love your style and your slow fashion motto. I would looooooove to see a video "what's in my closet", because, since social distance I organize my closet and you are my role model for it! I want to live slow fashioned, less shopping, but not with just 20 similar looking items, but with enough solid basics and different fun/cool/edgy/ me items which I do actually love and wear. I'm doing quite good I think, but I need some inspiration from your closet 😉 And the outfits are great, especially the jumpsuit combo, cause I have a similar new one from "leslunes" and asked myself TODAY in the morning, how I could style it in some cool ways,👍🥰😊 keep save🤗
Alyssa, I’m delighted to see your subscribers inching toward 100,000-a terrific benchmark created, I’m sure, by thought-filled, fun videos like this. Onward to an even greater tomorrow! Jean/Seattle
Thanks Alyssa! Wearing my oversized blue button up with leggings tomorrow, hello Spring! I have used the belt trick for years, I'm tall and slim but my waist is almost the same size as my hips so I wear the belt slung low, then add the cardigan or jacket, makes me look like I have a waist when I don't. I also like the idea of dressing up the joggers. Have a good week inside, stay well!
I do not work at home but enjoyed seeing this. Think I helps to put thought in how you dress for your mental outlook ,need to keep spirits up during these times.
I want that white shirt.....looks spectacular, professional but not fussy. Working from home but insist on getting properly dressed each day.....so many great ideas.....looking forward to Monday am in about 6 hours,!!!
I have to say, I have been absolutely LOVING this shirt - for the fit, feel, but mostly for its incredible sustainable properties :) Enjoy the rest of your Sunday! xx
Alyssa, I need you to know that I hear your voice every time I am about to make a purchase. So thank you. Money is tight these days with one income and your wisdom and inspiration are have a true impact! xox Love that feathery poof in the background too!
Great video. I am a stay at home mom (and make shift home-school teacher these days) so no one sees me ever. BUT, I do overall feel better when I make even a tiny effort like wearing my most flattering lounge wear with a real sweater and making my hair look decent. On a side note, I bought the necklace you have on and it is stunning. Maybe I'll wear that with my loungewear tomorrow. xoxo
Thank you Alyssa for another great video. I notice a difference in my attitude when I dress up at home and put some najevup on. My mom taught me how to improve my mood when I am diwn: she said "do your hair and put make up on". This is what has always been doing and I caught it from her. It really works. Plus nice clothing and you start feeling like you can conquer the world🤩 I love your jump suit and sweatpants 😍 Stay healthy and happy 😊
Great ideas! I'm the type of person that MUST get dressed to be productive...but being home, laid back casual is my go-to style. Thanks again for the inspiration! 💖
Great video! I found these ideas really helpful and love that it goes beyond most of the articles I've seen that just want my to buy new, expensive loungewear pieces.
I love your suggestions! It gives me some great ideas to up my lounge wear game! I especially like the jogger/sweatpants look. I’m a color girl so I think I’ll try it with a bright pink blazer 🥰🥰🥰
hi there! I dont wear a belt even if someone paid me to do it :) however, your tip of putting a longer piece on top tricking the eye is fantastic!!!!!! never thought of it and never seen anybody mention it before. Great tip!!!!! you are so sweet and very much enjoy your chanel, for the longest actually!!! you go girl!!!
Love the tips, Alyssa! I love wearing knit blazers...they give the appearance of a more formal look but they are as comfy as a sweater. Sometimes the more structured blazers just don't feel comfortable while working from home. Be well and thanks again for another great video!
Thank you so much for watching Nancy! Yes knit blazers are a great option if you want that comfortable yet structured look. Wishing you a great week ahead and stay well xx
Ciao Alyssa! OMG at I was looking for at home fashion and found this video from a year ago. I love that it doesn't matter how old your videos are because your ideas will work! I love all of these looks and I will try them! Thank you for all your inspirations. Love love love you! 🥰 XOXO
I am a new subscriber and I love your videos! I’m trying to become more minimal with my clothes and your tips and style make it so much easier to tackle! Thank you!
Love your videos, sense of style, and planet conscientiousness. BTW though I enjoyed the makeup video done with your makeup artist friend, I am glad to see you back in your natural less subtle color makeup. It's more you!
Thank you so much for these tips! Super helpful and interesting! I really love the first outfit (legging + loose white shirt) - I feel I can even go out on the street with it too (when we're once again allowed to do so)...
Love all 3 outfit ideas:). U can pull anything off. Though!! I work in a hospital and wear scrubs so I can put these ideas together to go out. I m all about comfort. Thank u soo much. I wait for every Sunday to watch your video.
Alyssa, you are so helpful as ever. We are doing some redesigning of our home - using materials that have been waiting to be used for over a year (our son died and at that point life went on hold) Anyway, what has stopped the world seems to have got us going. But wearing things that are going to get covered in sawdust or plaster dust are usually ugly old stuff that makes a women of my age feel ugh... However, your talk about body shape on one of your older videos, and then this one today, made me think: As long as I stay safe with my clothes, as they really are old, I can experiment with them by cutting and shaping them and tieing and belting things to test out "silhouettes" and how they work for my body and my mood. You are so right about what you wear being so influential on our mood but also our intellectual performance. Shoes play a big part in that for me too. I have noticed many times with your look books on how to wear things, just how much difference shoes make. So I am staying safe but feeling so much less a "bedraggled beggar women", still sawing, still hammering, and cutting plasterboard, but feeling more like myself while I do it. You have a gift, thank you for sharing you skill, and your lifting spirit. Sonia
So helpful and unique tips...too many wfh videos are focused on athleisure and makeup 💄... whereas these hacks are actionable and practical way to step up the work game and still be comfy. 🙏🏾 Please do a Part B!!
Great tips for our current conditions. Also, you succeeded in converting me! A few days ago I watched a "shopping haul" of another influencer and my first thought was "oh, I can shop that out of my closet!" . My second thought was " oh Alyssa! "
I, too, occasionally watch those haul videos and think Alyssa would NOT approve and she would find substitutes in her closet. And I can, too! You make me look at fashion with a new eye. The way ou break things down makes it easier for me to use what I have.
Keeping a routine during this time is helpful, so getting “dressed” is great for your sanity. There’s so much chaos and constant change right now, so this reminder is great!
Great video! In working from home I have to deal with the fact that my condo is on the 6th floor of an historic building with radiator heat and it is HOT! One thing that really does work for me is a crisp short sleeved 100% cotton white blouse. BTW as a rectangle shape edging toward plus side, I have found that the belt with a third piece gives me the appearance of a waist that I need while streamlining the width. Thanks for the tips.
Hi Alyssa, thanks for this.. I just received my first recashmere sweater from Everlane (at your recommendation) for the Australian winter. It’s gorgeous. Take care!
This is awesome. Do you have fashionable sustainable ideas for lounge wear since we are all staying at home more. I have been binging your channel. Love how you get to the point and make very smart points. Wonderful work. Keep it up! Much love from SF!
As always, great job. I always come away with ideas I can use while shopping my closet. I also add items to my wish list to fill out my wardrobe. Just got my Power of My People linen shirt and it made me think that you might share how to care for our clothes...we need to really care for our treasures.
Yay! That is the best thing to read and I'm so excited for you to enjoy your Power of My People shirt, I am still loving mine. Excellent suggestion, that video is on the way later this month ;) xx
Loved all these looks. I've always be fond of oversize long tops with leggins and now thanks to you I know why and how make it work better. For the belt trick, it also works very well when you do have a narrow waist but wide hips. I found out long ago that an outer layer hides my love handles while still showing off the "hourglass" figure that the belt enhance. :)
Loved this video and would 100% wear all those looks! I often wear a belt with a long cardi (or something else) over it--I think that's a WONDERFUL styling hack. And I love how you have your long sleeved top sticking out of the sleeves of the blazer--that's a styling hack I'm just starting to use! Plus: structure w/ softer ftw! I definitely want to up my game on my work from home shoes, too. Thanks for addressing that. :-) And I want to shout out to all the others down below who, like me, feel better when we get dressed, and when we put on just a little bit of makeup and jewelry. I'm doing that myself and feeling so much better when I do. Thanks again for this--I loved it! And thanks for making it a fundraiser--I contributed!
Hi Lisa! I'm so glad you liked those tips and are feeling good about your wfh looks. :) So glad you contributed to the fundraiser, thank you for letting me know! it is a new feature that I thought was a neat idea so I appreciate our feedback! Have a great week and stay safe xx
@@AlyssaBeltempo Totally! Loved that you did the fundraiser so if another opportunity comes up that works for you, I say go for it! It definitely got me to contribute. Also: I forgot to say yesterday--your point about looking at yourself in the mirror and feeling good about what you see--that totally applies to me in terms of dressing and "making up" a bit to work from home. I just feel happier when I see myself and that seems worth something, too. Today I'm doing a structured button down and leggings combo as per your inspo--yay!
Love it; thanks, Alyssa. Though my first thought was, Alyssa will show or mention something about wearing those nice pajama tops and pretty robes as outwear... Maybe in the future!?
Love how structured your sweats are Alyssa! Beautiful...I think I'm going to try the leggings & white structured shirt today...on the other [long-term] hand, I'm perpetually on the hunt for a comfortably fitting jumpsuit...most all of them ride a little too north for comfort from both angles 😄. Blessings & health to you. Thx for an enjoyable morning: cup of coffee, my hubby sleeping beside me, & your video...delightful! Ciao bella 🙂
Great tips and great looks. I wish we weren't going through this but being at home is something I'm getting used to. Where is your copper potted plant?
I love love the silver flats you wear in the third outfit - they’d upgrade basically ever one of my everyday looks. Mind sharing where you got them? Lots of love from Berlin, stay well!
Hi Alyssa! Good to see you doing well. I need some work from home options that are cat-proof! Although I enjoy having my fuzzy office mate, it's a real challenge with all the shedding (or snags, if I'm standing & give the impression of a tree to climb). :)
oooh cat proof! That's a tough one lol I've taken to wearing clothing in the same colour as their fur lol in all seriousness I will have to research this one a bit more! Thanks for watching xx
Alyssa!!!!! Amazing ideas! I just bought the sweatpants. I had a gift card from Encircled. I have their jumpsuit. I love your elevated casual ensembles! How about similar suggestions for spring/summer? I would love to see your ideas!! 🙏🏽🌹❣️
Lol thanks for this. I have been walking around here in a funk lately. Sweat pants that aren’t that nice and oversized T-shirts with paint stains all over them. Clean of course, but kinda sloppy. I think I am going to march myself over to the closet and see what is somewhat decent yet comfy....lol. Wish me luck, everybody ☮️💕
Dear Mary, my secret working from home or being in isolation is to go about the morning like you always have....in my case up,shower, dress breakfast.....normally I then drive 1.25 hours to work to get coffee and then arrive at desk to start workNow can sleep in to take care of the hour plus drive....still get the coffee and open the computer and start work......yah loving it!
Hi Alyssa, thank you for your styling videos, I've been a subscriber & watching you for a while. I wondered if you can address a question I have on blazer length/ proportions . I have a number of blazers but I seem to always avoid wearing them and I believe it is because I'm not exactly sure if it belongs with or enhances the rest of my outfit? I hope that makes sense, would love to receive your advice thanks so much! 💟💜💟💜💟
Have you done anything on how you make your all important shopping list? That would be helpful. Especially since online shopping has become a primary pastime!
Very practical ideas. Thank you. I live in Phoenix Arizona where our seasons are Spring, Summer, Summer and Fall. It's already getting hot here. I work in Corporate America for a Fortune 300 company. What suggestions do you have for as little clothing as possible in the work from home environment, yet tasteful and business casual? B.T.W., leggings are out of the question. I'm 5'2 105 lbs and while I'm proportioned, I have the bonyest legs on the planet. L.O.L. Even my adult daughters, are like..."Uh, no Mom." Thank you Alyssa.
Hi Deanna, oh great questions - I hope you are enjoying your change of season ... I think it comes down to fabric choice here ... linen can be a modest style (sleeveless/ short sleeves/ shirts) but still keep you cool and sophisticated looking, cotton is a good second option but I like how crisp linen can look ... i hope this helps a bit! xx
And if I follow all these tips, can you guarantee that I will I be able to dance like you? 😎 Ciao, Alyssa!!!! Ciao, bella. How are you? Lovely tips. Guess what... The self-isolation (and my friends) helped me realize that I don't own a pair of sweatpants or a sweatshirt, or a hoodie, or a flannel shirt, or an overall. My friends are saying that based on that, my Canadian citizenship should be revoked! 🤣🤣🤣 Do you think so too? 🤔🙈 Love and hugs, wishes of health and safety to you and yours!!!! 🌼🙌🤗
Hi, not only a Canadian thing :) also Italuan women love the casual fitting Flannels or Hoodies..lol I have become more casual here in Italy than I ever was in Canada😅🍁😘
haha thanks Natalya!! Always love your comments - isn't that interesting about your lack of loungewear! You are simply always on the elegant train and I must say, your friends sound like a hoot! Glad you are still laughing and hope you are staying healthy! Love and hugs from Ottawa! xx
@@AlyssaBeltempo Thanks Alyssa! So kind of you to offer such an elegant excuse for my neglect of lounge wear. Pajamas are my actual excuse 😂🤣🤣💗 But yes, I'm still practicing leaving the house while wearing leggings. I can reach the front door by now, so that's progress. 😉 European mums, aunts, and sisters do wonders for your wardrobe discipline 🙈💗
I just watched the Sunday AM🤒Political Shows, do I need say ‘DoWNeR’ until I switched to U Alyssa😂darling U can always B counted on to lift our spirits😎every time no matter what reality 😷is trying to bring us down🥰thx🍯
Thanks so much fot keep thinking on us! Just now i remember that I been wearing warming leggings to jobb, cause Im still working out. I guess practicality was a good excuse on these still cold coronadays. Hilsen
Enjoyed this video and your always cheerful attitude! Like others here, I'm retired, but I do like to wear a nice athleisure look each day even with no where to go. With the last look and the white top, it occurred to me that those who have to do video conferences need a good bra, too! We retired gals can throw on a sports bra and it doesn't matter! Take care and be well. Hope your mom is well, too!
Good tips! As for leggings "I" am of the opinion that if you are wearing then out in public, your top should extend past your butt on the back and front. I am female, I know what the parts look like, I do not need a refresher course.
Absolutely - I saw an attractive 50ish woman in leggings with a short top and her anatomy was right there, front and center - It was embarrassing to see, but she seemed to like the look - I wanted to say cover you "Lady Parts", but of course I didn't
@@AlyssaBeltempo OMG I can't believe you are answering :) first thanks for that. About my question, the blue sweater you are wearing with the black leggings before switching to the white shirt. More importantly, thank you, sincerely! I've been consuming my entire life, always wanting something else. A few years ago I moved to Israel from SF CA, where clothing is considerably more expensive. I found myself doing the math at the end of the month and realizing I had spent tons of money on what? I was never able to answer; silly things, another two shirts, one dress, etc. The first video I watched of you was your "French style video" I found it so simple and clean, I found you so elegantly chic and your message of less consumption really spoke to me. Since then, and after a many of your videos, I am conscious, I look for quality items, I invest on basics, and I found myself buying a lot less. So thank you Alyssa for educating, and unknowingly impacting the lives of people like mine. ps: I would love to get tips on how to plan weekly outfits, do you lay them all out? take pics? the practical stuff, thanks and stay safe!
Can you do a video on dressing up at home when you have kids? Like... when you have to sit on the floor with them (without your back/waist being out and getting cold from bending and stretching), prepare and tidy up messy activities, etc. I struggle with this even in peaceful times, and I would like to feel better-dressed
