This folding workbench only takes up four square feet, but holds all your essential hand tools and supplies. It folds out to a 12 square foot tabletop.
Build it using off the shelf 1x12s and a 3/4" 2x4 plywood panel.

What a great sister...... Only if every sister was as good as you are w/power tools. I'm sure your sister loves it & you for helping her w/& to visit with. I sure would love to have a sibling to share my experiences/problems with. But Mom only wanted one child bc my Dad couldn't behave his self & be home every night w/me & my Mother. I guess he didn't want responsibilities of being a husband/ father yet. IDK WHAT HIS PROBLEM WAS except he just didn't want any one holding him down/telling him what to do & when to do. Thanks for sharing, Chris from Missouri

I built a real basic out-feed table that I often use for assembly. This table takes up too much space and not enough function. I've been searching for a way to change this out for a folding out-feed table. All the videos I've watched, the woodworker attached the folding table to their table saw. That works if you have a cabinet saw. I have a Delta/Rockwell contractor saw. Attaching it is out of the question. I was on your site looking for a different plan when I came across this build. The plan will need to be modified to match the height of my table saw, but this will free up some much needed floor space. Good on ya.

Ana: I just finished building this project. Mine started as 31" high but I had to add 5 more inches to match the height of a new table saw. With the 3/4" table top (32.5" deep) I notice that the project is a bit unstable when being rolled around (empty) and would recommend that the wheel base be widened. Love the project and will be reusing this design as a kitchen island without the table top. Thanks for this project. I'll look forward to others.

Or put the flap leaf on both sides and have a full size dining table for 6 with storage inside. Great for small space lifestyles. I grew up with one we used in our den for projects and games like jigsaw puzzles.

Neat thought. Have a frame that supports the entire structure but put the entire center shelf portion on a drawer slide so it can be easily accessible by pulling it out half each side.
@lakelady185
@lakelady185 5 лет назад
@@larrybe2900 Yes! And if possible make the legs pull down close to the outer edges of the leaves using a piano hinge so it has 4 legs like traditional tables. I found that pulling out on the angle made the leg room awkward and unexpected for guests who expected 4 legs.

I saw those hinge brackets on a Steve Ramsey Video for a fold down work space, they would give a more secure & safe working bench top, but a quick and easy work table regular hinges do the trick. Love the video Keep up the great projects.

I need my sister to come visit me because I am somewhat disabled and I don’t have the strength to bend down without it causing me a lot of spasms in my back. In the same position, feel your frustrations and limitations, i am paralysed one side of my body, so 1 handed i struggle with holding things and trying to screw something etc lol. I am very independent, only ask help if i can really not find a solution, and then my son help me find solutions so i can still carry on on my own, with the restriction that i may only use a power tool when he is near - such a safety sally lol. I also time my baking to be finished just after he arrives home , so he can do the hot or heavy lifting from the oven, works out quite well ( after burning my hand trying to get a roast out of the oven, this was my compromise ). Al, the best, dont give in or give up hope, the more we can do for ourselves or think of ways we can cope, the better for our self-confidence/ esteem😀
@maehay4065
@maehay4065 5 лет назад
Gesiggie Main thank you for sharing your disability with me. I do get discouraged at times when I can’t finish something I started without any help around. I have never lived alone before. So I have to wait until my son has time to come over and help me with something that needs lifted up off the floor. Since my husband got sick he now lives with his son because he took me to court and said a bunch of lies about me and I couldn’t defend myself as I once was capable of doing. I cannot handle any kind of stress without suffering later. You are more independent than I am at this point in my life. I am very hopeful on some days but if I fail at attempting to get to do a project of done it will get me down unless I hear something positive or just see the beautiful flowers around my home it will lift my spirit! I hope you are having a wonderful day today.

The design is great. There's only one flaw.The 2x4 that supports the piano hinge should have been 3/4 of an inch lower and the hinge on the inside of the top that folds, so that the weight is supported by the 2x4 instead of the hinge.

This is a pretty solid little workbench. While once you figure out how it comes together, it is physically Easy to assemble ru-vid.comUgkxyFZUPFEey-PuqsPMxqaykBhgA1LWxFHh by yourself. But the diagrams explaining the steps are really pretty bad. I could not get the handle pins in all the way despite multiple attempts, so I just used a screw I had on hand for the 2nd handle. I could not get the first pin in further or pull it back out. You are supposed to hammer it in, but I had no leverage and the handle is plastic and I did not want to risk breaking it. I will get a lot of use out of the bench because of the convenient size and height. It does fold up nicely for storage. They even explain how to fold it so you don't get pinched...that is important!

@ColdToesNow
@ColdToesNow 5 лет назад
That was my first thought too. I worried a little about it moving with the vibration/bouncing of the sewing machine, but the large locking wheels should work well. I think it should be adjusted for height -- so that you are sewing at a comfortable height in a normal chair and don't need to use a bar-stool.

Choose the chair you are going to use, then measure the height from the floor to where you would like the height to be, subtract the height of the casters you are going to use as well as the thickness of the wood you want to use and adapt the plan, very doable, i want this and we took measurements tonight and adapted it to fight the height to accomodate the height to what i need for my wheelchair
