I like how she posed like "I look good don't I?" Well... As long as that coat stays on and you're showing your back to me... sure. Might be a ghoul but still got the curves of any other woman, but the texture of your skin?! Nope.
Trashcan Carla is my favorite. Whenever I’m in my trading shop in sanctuary. It was always a happy exciting thing to see her return. Kinda like an ice cream truck.
I’ve always loved traveling merchants and such. Makes me feel curious to when I find someone walking with a caravan. Cricket I love especially with our mutual love for explosions However, these out of sight ones I never knew about. Exactly why I like this game. Even when I feel I’ve seen it all, there’s something I clearly missed. Always something new to find. Just gotta look hard enough
I love traveling merchants too! I've been thinking it would be fun to be a traveling merchant myself in Fallout 76, depending on how that would work in a world with no NPCs and so many other players to deal with. But I love the concept. I'm part Roma (Gypsy) so maybe that's another reason why it appeals to me so much.
zxy atiywariii hey, so long as you’re enjoying it, that’s fine. I’d probably go scavenging places, take all I can and sell what I got to others. If they’re nice I MIGHT give a slight discount. If rude or try to agitate me, I might make it a little more pricy
ya ya keep your shit on, if you break it you bought it. I like her, I can always get fertilizer and cement and .45 rounds off her. It Strong and the lady who complains that I killed Mama Murphy all the time I am about to send to a settlement in Syberia.
@@patricklee8552 Fertilizer, very smart thing to pick up if you have the charisma to keep the cost down. I tend to have high charisma which helps me BIG-TIME with trading. I can buy a bag of fertilizer for 30 caps if memory serves, which breaks into 4 fertilizer and 1 acid. I can then use those 4 fertilizer and 2 plastic to make 2 Jet, which I can then sell for more than 30 caps each. I buy fertilizer whenever I find it since I often either have use for jet or can sell it for some extra caps. I've also found that, especially if you don't use laser weapons much, you can wait until you've amassed a lot of that ammo plus steel (common/cheap), spring (I also find this extremely common and cheap since I scrap weapons all the time and also get the scrapper perk ASAP), and circuitry then you can make a bunch of robot repair kits. Gives you XP and you can sell them for caps or to trade with. Another good one is in the syringer ammo portion of the chem work station, the... mind fog I think it was? Its worth is 70+ caps each, so selling it at the typical 80% value that is the most you can get when selling things is over 60 caps each. Now, what did it need... every time you make it it gives you three syringes... nope, don't remember, I'll look it up. Mind Cloud Syringe, it uses an Abraxo cleaner, some asbestos, a purified water, and glass. I scarcely EVER find use for asbestos, nothing comes to mind, so it's basically completely useless except for this syringe. I typically keep Abraxo anyhow because you can make some chems with it, but this ammo is a stellar way to turn your Abraxo into cold hard caps. For one Abraxo, you get three of those Mind Cloud syringes, which can be sold for over 180 caps in total. Glass isn't particularly junk to me though, since I do enjoy creating settlement buildings that are elevated off the ground (I keep my workshops and most stores under the building) with either steel posts from the warehouse section or wooden posts from the barn section of the settler workshop, then the first floor is steel, second floor is wood, and the top floor is a lovely glass-walled and glass-roofed lounge area... though sadly thus far I've not witnessed settlers going up there yet even though the bar/restaurant is up there. Sad... there's tables and chairs and everything. Still, the Mind Cloud Syringe only uses 1 glass to make 3 syringes worth a total of... sorry, my math was wrong, looks like they might be worth 58 caps each which means a total of perhaps 174-175 caps to sell all three. Still, quite the deal for 1 Abraxo, 2 asbestos, 1 glass, and 1 purified water. For many players, the water is the only truly valuable item there, but just go to a brewing plant or something and load up a companion with as many empty bottles as you can. Go back to the settlement, get your character filling the bottles, and go take a piss or something while they crank that handle over and over. Craft or purchase a grape mentats if you need it to lower prices as well as get a charisma boost of FIVE, and then you'll get some killer prices. You know you've reached the best prices when you can sell fusion cores (including ones almost completely used-up) for 160 caps (80% of their base value of 200 which is the highest value you can get when selling things) or can buy them for 240 caps (120% of their base value of 200, the lowest value you can possibly pay when buying things). I used to NEVER, EVER, EVER spend caps on... well, basically anything. I'd pretty much horde it, it's what I've always done. I'm very much a 'saving money' and 'living frugally' kinda guy, even been homeless before IRL. Now though, I allow myself to buy shipments of supplies instead of ONLY ever spending money on the cheapest/best junk possible and scrapping it all, which is cheaper than buying shipments... but really, not by a whole lot, and it takes a lot longer to gather material to build with and I do enjoy building up settlements. Also, and this is something that remains with me to this day, I virtually never actually SPEND caps when I trade. Only on rare occasions will I trade and end up having to spend caps, but usually I have enough to trade to where it either breaks even, or they end up giving me caps at the end of the trade. I don't like walking away with less caps than I had at the start of a trade, but given I've learned how to make money so efficiently, I do sometimes allow myself to splurge. 250 steel costs 900 caps at the lowest which is just under 4 caps per steel, and 250 wood costs 600 caps which is just over 2 caps per wood. Yes, you can save money by only buying junk and scrapping the junk... but it'll take A LOT longer to collect enough steel or wood to do anything major with in one building-session. 3.6 caps per steel and 2.2 caps per wood, that still ain't bad. Over 170 caps for the 3 Mind Cloud Syringers, that means you can buy a shipment of steel for 5 Abraxo, 10 asbestos, 5 glass and 5 purified water, plus less than 50 caps. Or, a shipment of steel for 4 Abraxo, 8 asbestos, 4 glass and 4 purified water plus you'll receive over 80 caps on the side. I know that there's people who regard charisma as being useless, fair enough, but not to me. I also get peeved whenever I fail a speech check, many a time I'll pop out of my power armour and slip into a 2-charisma suit, dawn a 1 charisma hat (often times Skinny Malone's formal hat is the one I stick to for the rest of the game once I obtain it), and a pair of black-rimmed glasses (or if I haven't gotten that yet, the goofy fashionable glasses) to give myself the best possible chances at passing a speech check. I may be a fucking autist.
What i love about Oxhorn is that he can invent a story for every plank and stone lying out in the wasteland in the way that actually makes sense, which makes the whole game seem a lot more interesting and mysterious
@@sephirothdomain1 Wait, don't people do that for everything they find? It takes me forever to go to the store, so many faces I need to invent lives for...
Hey Ox, if you have X6 as a companion, there's a chance he'll converse with the wandering Institute informants. The conversations are usually about runaway synths, so that's another way to uncover their identities.
Had a fun encounter the other day, i met Jack Cabot and his ghoul friend a bit off red rocket outside sanctuary. Jack wanted to buy all my fiber optics and when i didn´t have any he went on his way =)
... you think that Trudy is easy to miss? She's extremely close to Starlight Drive-in and is along a main road south to Diamond City, plus the diner is on a bit of a hill so is easy to spot. The farmer/trader, that's fine, I likely never found that one either since there's basically zero reason to go in whatever direction that farmer/trader is, but I feel as though a gamer would have to make a conscious effort to avoid the Drumlin Diner. Many gamers hit the VATS button every now and then to check for mines or for possible enemies, which is another great way to spot Wolfgang/Simone/Trudy. Trudy also doesn't wander around or require a random encounter, she is 100% ALWAYS at the Drumlin Diner, no matter what level you are or what you've done in the game... I think your suggestion of including Trudy is silly. Hard to say whether it's as silly or more or less silly than including Trashcan Carla, but seems silly regardless. The only way Trudy could be more difficult to miss is if she was involved in a quest or if some NPCs mention her business.
I really apreciate you making this video, ive been looking for cricket for ages, the spray and pray is a amazing wepon and i was in need of it for my new railroad automatic build
I actually did click and watch your older video on all the Tier-4 merchants. After coming back to this one, I have to compliment you on how much your commentary has improved over the past two years - so much that it's more akin to story-like narration now. I absolutely adore Fallout, so thank you for taking the time to provide us with quality content every day!
I've heard that Tina in Vault 81, the girl whose brother is hooked on Jet, is also voice-acted by the same person who voice acted Tiny Tina. I also downloaded a mod that makes Tina in Vault 81 actually become a settler, and also she's fully voiced apparently. The modders apparently managed to get in contact with the voice actress and got her to speak some lines for them I suppose? I dunno, I haven't actually done vault 81 yet in my current play-through which is my first play-through with this mod (and many others). It would be super cool of her if she voluntarily did some lines for some modders without payment, I like to think that I'd do that too if I became a successful voice actor, not that it's something I actively desire or work towards. If I did though, Fiverr would be the place where I'd try it out. I'm an entrepreneur and I have been complimented on my voice before, but to really take it seriously I'd have to set up a small studio or setup with soft walls to eliminate any possible echo, ideally also thick walls to guarantee that any sound from outside is not also recorded with my voice, plus ideally in a situation where I can yell or scream without scaring neighbours. Hah, if I had a setup like that, I'd probably even make a video of it to post on Fiverr to show the lengths I've gone to, the equipment I use, to provide as high-quality content as possible. Hmm... maybe someday. I already have some decent audio recording equipment, and I'm already a fairly established writer on Fiverr where I make hundreds of dollars per month... fuck me, I might just try becoming a voice actor sometime. Neat!
the first group of merchants you mentioned: Cora, Chelsea, and what-his-face are actually a random encounter added to the game by nuka-world, you can encounter them at any number of locations, both in and out of the nuka-world dlc. I first encountered them camping under an overpass near goodneighbor.
Stockton frees synths and works with the Caravans.. The Caravans are Institute informants.. How is Stockton still alive? And why doesn't the Institute place GPS trackers in their synths, after 10 years of runaway synths. _So many questions!_
Gref Steel GPS works via satellite, of which I doubt many survived the war. A better tracking method would be via signal strength from a transponder, or wifi triangulation, as wifi would be easier for the institute to set up than a satellite. Also: what about those bird watcher synths?
Caravans probably sell information to anyone who wants it. Just another commodity. But if they are smart they won't sell information that will cost them another customer.
Another possibility for Eleanor's story is that she found the previous owners dead already (it is the wasteland after all, maybe they were old and their kids left long ago) and did the honorable thing and buried them...
Cora and her friends all got murdered by Crickets in my playthroughbefore I arrived . I thought it had some backstory because the NPCs all had names and spend half an hour looking for hidden Tapes or Notes.
Not really relevant, but that random encounter with art was interesting for me. As feral ghouls attacked them so they fought each and killed each other.
I hate the Karma system in 3 and NV. It prevents me from having a follower I want to use because I don't play the "right way" to convince him to join me. I want to have Butch with me, but I'm way too goody goody for him.
Your videos make great listening material throughout the work day and they get me so excited to get home and play fallout. I have a character right now where I’m going through to do as much as possible and I use your videos as guides and always find ways to fit the experiences into my characters lore.
Awe the doggy named Teddy is adorable. Of course I saved him and quickly killed the stupid hunters. I gave him a teddy bear and canned dog food. He's safe with Eleanor.
* In Commonwealth is also traveling trader with brahmin. Trader named Trader. Nothing special. * In my game traders - doc Weathers and Cricket are dead, killed by bloodbugs. * Also Rylee is dead, if you don't do her quest (in Longneck Lukowski's Cannery) then she waits outside, but behind cannery is beach, random encounters hotspot. And if gods of random puts there some super-mutants with suicider...
Yes Paige, he has stuff that will blow your mind. Take stuff to improve Charisma and you can negotiate between the two parties. He will then hang out side the Diner with Simone, great for early in the game for getting meds including adictol, water and stimpacks.
You missed Kat. Kat is a young girl roaming the wastes as a merchant, protected by her sentry bot, Gus. She sells a small assortment of junk, and a small amount of ammunition. Meeting her is a random encounter.
Ox you should make a Pros and Cons video about the factions and endings in fallout 4 and tell us witch Sole survivor to be used best in this factions but still you never fail to impress your the best youtuber for me and you should probably be called the Fallout King
I agree, yet I have a three-way tie for best FO4 RU-vidr, as I subscribe to each of them for very different reasons. Oxhorn for Creation Club content, good mods, lore/backstory, and random encounter locations. Skooled Zone for settlement building ideas, tips, and tricks. PS4Trophies because I want to collect every single dang thing in each play through and his channel helps me find whichever magazine or bobblehead that I cannot seem to find after searching everywhere in the Commonwealth.
You mentioned the Trade Post being available after Battle of Bunker Hill. It's actually available very early by completing the misc. quests for Savoldi and Deb who then send you to Kessler for a job. Completing her job (properly) and returning to her awards you with the Trade Post. Good for getting Cricket to stop by Sanctuary with Spray and Play.
After watching your videos off and on since the game came out, I was surprised to find I had missed a trader in all my play throughs. Opal was a new one. Things may have changed, because Carla is a wandering trader, who appears at sanctuary and at Bunker Hill and some surprising places between. When first meeting her, use the sarcastic reply about looking for love and she knocks about 5-10% off all trades.
The dog in the cage is a reference to a similar encounter in Skyrim: When making your way through the Rift, you can happen across a wolf in a cage. Like in FO4, when you pick the lock, you're ambushed by hunters. If you kill them before they kill the wolf, said wolf will be non-hostile to the player and just go on its way.
The Ted and Elenore encounter is similar to a Skyrim encounter where you find a wolf in a cage and if you free it two hunters attack. If the wolf survives then it's friendly and doesn't do much else.
Every time somebody says the name Eleanore all I hear is Henry Fonda yelling “ELEANOOOOOOOOOOOORE” at the starting of the movie “the Great Smoky Roadblock”
Wonder if this is useful knowledge for business man build I have been playing recently. The ghoul doctor did help in a survival game in getting rid of disease and roads early on.
Immersive dialog.... Slim, and Opal FTW, didn't know about them after many many hours playing this game. I love finding overlooked stuff like this, thanks Oxhorn!
Trashcan Carla is (in my opinion) not an easy-to-miss merchant but one I know of that probably is and wasn't mentioned is the Mr.Handy inside "Science Center Gift Shop".
The Mr.Handy isn't very important because he only has a very little bit of ammo and a hugely decent amount of junk and can get random trading shipments of pretty much any size of (50 to 250) adhesive, ceramic, concrete, copper, rubber, steel and wood.
It's so weird to me in-game when strangers tell me their life story right away. This is New England, we prefer to pretend to ignore people and then gossip about them disparagingly with our cousins later. Then I remember it's an alternate timeline and post-apocalyptic. But I still don't think 210 years and massive radiation would breed friendliness into us!
This is a really good imformative video! keep it up, When overhauling quest mods come out like Fallout Cascadia, Fallout Miami, and Fallout New California come out you should make videos about those!!
20:00 - The tunnel is also scripted that once you enter it, enemies will appear on either side and walk inwards, eventually meeting and fighting each other. In my game, I hid and the unnamed trader died getting involved in the fight.
The shack is a random encounter location, Cora is just one of a few random encounters that can spawn there. I believe if you send them to Nuka World, they never spawn again.
My random encounter spot for them was the buildings just south of the main entrance to the park. 'Send them to the Commonwealth' so you can keep trading with them.
That girl Carla has got boots made for walking, I was swinging by the Dalton farm in Far Harbor and to my surprise I recognised someone "Is that? No, it can't be" I thought to myself but upon comin closer surely it was Carla. Girl you be treading all over the map and beyond! Daumn, you must have calves of steel and diamond plated shoes darlin'. Her lovin days may be far gone but she holds a dear place in my heart, the traders that connects, supplies and unites this god forgotten land. I respect and admire the courage and bravery it takes for them to dare these monster infested, meat grinder wastelands to supply settlements.
I found a trader that looked pretty basic and it turned out they had, good armour, overpowered weapons like a Assault rifle that’s automatic (i think it was automatic) a scope, and a flame effect, I’m not sure if this came from them but boy do I wanna find that merchant again.
I hadn't looked at his subcount in awhile jesus it's over 900000! I think he was at like 70k last I checked. I'm so happy for him. Good for me too because it means more content!
I found Cricket by accident. If you go into the workshop menu at any settlement there a one-piece structure you can build that caters to caravan people. I built one at Nordhagen Beach and she showed up the next day.
Also, the last 3 unnamed traders have random appearances. I.e., they'll appear as different people in different games, or I guess if you reload saves before you get to their cells they'll change. Oh, and there's another random merchant a bit west of the Ranger Cabin near Sanctuary/Abernathy Farm. Low inventory, but sometimes he/she has some useful junk items. There's a pond with a shack nearby.
I don't think she would have murdered the people I mean if she just murder them like a writer then she had a left their bodies to rot because you are pretty Much middle of nowhere you have to remember when you bury someone it is sign of respect especially if you put across the mark the grave that's also a big sign of respect I'm not saying that she's not capable of murder but usually murderers don't take the time to bury their victims and mark their grave with a headstone
Cory Dorton my theory : a family with a kid used to live there, the kid grew up, the parents eventually died so they were buried by the now adult kid who had now left the shack
Fact: Cricket voice actor is the same as Tiny Tina, which is likely an easter egg reference to the character considering how intense she is with weapons and blowing things
"Hey, let's trade" "I'll take a look, sure" Feral Ghoul: "RAAAAAAAAAWR" Deacon: "GAH" I really enjoy these perfectly timed npc reactions in the game. One time I walked up to Ronnie Shaw and she was sandboxing with the pommel horse, doing some crazy gymnastics on it, and as I walked up to her she said "Don't worry general, I'll whip these Minutemen into shape." ... Yeah I don't doubt you Ronnie.
