Anxious to see the progress of your seed planting. Good tips. I'm in 7a, Washington DC area. Planning to plant larkspur seeds late winter. Have never tried them before.

Did not know about cutting on larkspur for more blooms! I loved having them last spring, they did great, so I will try your tip this next spring! I love how your cosmos blooms float around like butterflies! Kind of reminds me of whirling butterflies gaura!

Playing catch up on your videos. Your cosmos look so graceful waving in the breeze. Tried them this year but I think they got too hot…but I see yours are in full sun. Will try again. Sorry I didn’t see this in time to plant larkspur. How did they do?

+Marion Nixon the larkspur made it through the crazy freeze so I’m hoping for a good crop in the spring.

I'm gardening in 8a also, the next 2 weeks are ideal for planting bulbs, but I'm considering waiting a few more weeks to hold out for better temps. Question, do you cool hyacinth bulbs as w/tulips? Thx so much. cgzone8

Do you plant a second batch of cosmos for the fall or do they make it through your summer?

Yes typically I start another round in July.

Just curious, will the sunflowers grow the same as the parent or if pollinated will you get a unique flower? I saved seeds (only 3 formed) last year but as the plant came up, I think it was a wind storm, it broke so I never got to see if it was the same flower. I don't know if it was a not enough sun issue, but the larkspur and batchelor's buttons I grew were so leggy, I decided to pull them out. I don't see any sprouts in the area but if they volunteer, I'll let them grow and try again.

+Janice Tanner not necessarily… cross pollination can definitely change things up. And larkspur and bachelor buttons need full sun, so at least 6-8 hours.

It is 5:59 PM on Sunday, 10 September, I was wondering if you could help me to understand can I plant my coneflower seeds, daisy seeds, etc. now so that will come up next year?

It really depends on your zone. I prefer to start my seeds indoors and plant them out about 4-6 weeks before the first frost. Or you can start the seeds in the winter and plant them out after your last frost in the spring.

It is mid April and I bought larkspur and bachelor button seeds to plant out …is this the wrong time of year? Zone 8b Seattle.

You are a little late, you might want to hold on to them and sow them in the fall instead.
