I'm widowed and live alone so I would say 90% of my meals are cooked in my toaster oven. I have no problem using my full size oven, but it's just easier and more efficient to use the toaster oven. Pretty much, as long as what I'm roasting fits on the pan the oven came with, I'm using it.

I have found a decent toaster oven to be the single most used kitchen appliance I have. Toasting, broiling, baking, roasting, re-heating, etc. The main advantage is convenience -- toaster ovens are placed on the counter at waist or shoulder height. There's no need to bend over, to use it (great for old geezers).
@jase_allen
@jase_allen Месяц назад
I've been using my toaster oven in place of my regular oven for most things for years. It's more convenient, faster to pre-heat, doesn't use as much energy, and it doesn't heat up the whole house.
@jvallas
@jvallas Месяц назад
Mine's bigger than that & has the advantage of convection, and I use it for nearly everything my main oven can make. I'm 75, and not bending to lift is a big plus, but I assume it uses a lot less energy as well. Less to clean as well. The advantage my big oven has is it reaches 500°, which I need/prefer for pizza and some breads.
@hxhdfjifzirstc894
@hxhdfjifzirstc894 Месяц назад
I also use a toaster oven for almost everything (except large sheet pans, etc.) because it's so much easier, as you say... no need to bend and lift. The fact that they sit on the countertop, at waist or shoulder height is a HUGE convenience (you can put a platform underneath the oven, to raise it above counter height, if you like). Honestly, a modular/collapsible kitchen system could be based on a toaster oven, a couple of countertop induction burners, and a few clever 'nesting' tables with wheels on the legs.

Just made this missing the ricotta and only having that "six cheese blend" that you get in the grocery store, already shredded. Also, I did not add salt. There is salt in the jarred sauce. I am putting this in my rotation, and I have a new name for it: "Faked Ziti".

No, depending on the size it can be more versatile.

You have it backwards. A decent toaster oven is a Swiss army knife, in the kitchen. An air fryer is a small, crappy toaster oven that only does one thing.

I can't afford a $200 toaster oven when I have a full size paid for oven. I promise you aren't doing serious cooking in the cheap toaster oven I do have.

Toaster ovens at home seem pointless to me. Useful at the office though.

In my experience, I use the toaster oven 99% of the time... not my conventional oven. Theories are one thing, and practice is sometimes different.

@@hxhdfjifzirstc894 I had a toaster oven but hardly ever used it except for cheese on toast.

I have that exact same toaster oven, thanks to a review ATK did a few years ago. I absolutely love it; it was a little expensive but worth every penny!

Could you achieve similar results if you used an air fryer instead?

With the sandwich, yes - it's the same method. Dip the chicken in seasoned flour-egg mixture, then pre-toasted breadcrumbs (I do mine on the stove, but they can also be done in the microwave).
