Quick Tip: Watch this video in its entirety first, get the laughs out, then hit the replay button and do the exercise. It'll still be a challenge to get through, but this way you at least stand a chance 😅😅😅 *hitting replay for the third time* #Icandothis 💪
"What is she talking about? This video isn't funny at all! It's actually one of his more serious on...crap!" I hate him! I can't keep a straight face at all through these!
@Shallalla 🤣and meanwhile, he's looking as innocent as an angel....how does he keep that straight, well a wee bit of a smile, professional look? Guess it's one of the best part of Mark's videos; along with his gift of music and of being a great human being . 👍🏿💖
I quit smoking after 38 years, screaming at my 3 brothers and destroying what voice I had. You've inspired me to do the vocal warm ups (which I started to Lector with a better voice) to singing in the church choir since 1978!
THANK YOU Mark. As a member of AA (since 2009 and sober since 2016, after a relapse) ! enjoyed reading all that about alcohol and what it does to the body. Keep up the good work!
I’ve been training myself for two years since 2018. I’m 16 now and I’ve seen so much improvement with your videos. Thank you so much for your time and effort mark! Loving the glassrs
Voice Lesson.com thanks👍 I’ve got a ways to go though. I’m trying to get rid of tension fully but it’s been off and on. Sometimes I feel like I have a Voice and sometimes I feel like it’s not even there.
@@alaandre004 That's absolutely natural! You're going through a lot of changes (growth related). Literally overnight your voice will have shifted a little. That's why it's so important to vocalize daily to keep up with the skills. You're gonna be smokin' good in a little while!
Voice Lesson.com yeah, I keep reminding my self of that daily. If I give up now I’ll regret losing all my skills in a few years. Thanks for your videos and selflessness in teaching!
(@@voicelessondotcom - Thanks for your response. I can't imagine why, but the more gentle and easier vocal exercises (like humming, mum mum, etc.) seem to be working better for rehabilitating my voice.
Voice Lesson.com Agreed. Finally getting into the habit of practicing these 5 days a week straight for 20-40 mins a day. Working up to an hour, because I hear that’s what the pros do!
Voice Lesson.com Woof, it’s a lotta work & dedication, but the fun & results that come with it almost don’t make it feel like work. Please, keep up the quality videos, sir!
This is a great way to practice singing live -- ever have to make it through a song when you're laughing or crying or -- as happened to me last year -- make it through four sets with bronchitis? -- Thanks for your help during that time, Mark! -- Rock on, and rock through! -- PS -- Thanks to you, not only did I make it through four sets, I didn't lose my voice! You're da kine!
Your humor translated fantastically LOL! Cannabis is legal where I’m at, so a little puff puff before and it helps all my nerves to unbundle. I love your attitude about making mistakes and just going with it but continuing forward. It’s helping me unlearn that panic when making a mistake - and instead, learning to go with the flow. Much Aloha Mark! 🌺💚
@@voicelessondotcom just throwing it out there, I've been coming back to this comment and start my morning routine for a week now :D :D esp. with the pandemic it's been helping a lot man
Amazing the best vocal coach ever without any doubt ( Mark You have given my voice back its life and flexibility is coming back the elastic ) thank you I must check out your website.
Love your vocal training. It makes the most sense to me. Thank you for offering this free. I hope you reap a heap! I believe that a singer should be sober. Because you wouldn't drive drunk. To me singing is like driving. I want my audience to hear honest sober words. Do you agree?
Thank you again Mark. Love your exercises and you've been an inspiration and you've helped a lot with your tips and exercises. Watching your lessons and doing your exercises have helped my voice a lot over the past few months.
WHAT A JOY, DEAR❣️❣️❣️💣🙏🏻💖💞 THANK YOU❣️ I do recover easily my classic so so high singing voice ..." normally" I´m singing sooo deeply ... I LOVE IT❣️ MARK❣️
Thank you for this lesson, could you when possible teach mixed voice or manly and strong head voice? How to develop it, also how to develop and get better tone in the low register, G2 to A2 for tenor. Thank you
I have many videos on these subjects - and the secret is to stop labeling sections of your range into categories like "chest, head and mix." Those only exist in your mind. If you want a stronger sound - stop restricting your voice with boundaries!
Dammit Mark, it's hard to sing while laughing (but I will take it over crying. used to have that problem when singing - being overwhelmed with emotion and it would choke me. Still happens sometimes but I had to find ways to not disconnect, but manage that extreme feeling to get through shows/gigs.) Now I'm going to get some vodka...)
My Gushhh so nice I did camomile to sip it during the session and you recommend also vodka that’s soooo nice I don’t perform before taking vodka I used to take cognac but it makes my mouth and throat dry . U really the One ☝️ and Only 😀😀😀😄😄😃😄😃
Did you have vodka or aquavit, or just flavored vodka. Thanks for the warmup. Used this video to warm up a bit before heading down to quartet practice, where we'll take on a bit of barbershop. I have to see later if you have good videos on breathing (specifically not getting too much pressure when inhaling too much) and falsetto (since I sing 1T in one choir even if it's not really my ideal range)... The text over the vids are great to keep engagement while warming up.
Hello Mark Sensei. Im a big fan of your vids. Thank you for all the information you’ve shared all these years. Can i ask you? Is it true kids under 10ys, it’s not recommended to have vocal lessons?
@Voice Lesson.com - ugh on me. Okay, anxiety rushes in my head, yup all alone in my apt. and when I "think" oh god, what's he doing, eeeahh or ahh eee, you get it - so I feel defeated, I mean I am talking about a 72 year old singer - just trying to get back to singing and always, always the anxiety just freezes me up, so, yes there is a question, : ) besides my fave "clock vocal video) is there a video that uses your eeeeee's aaaaaaaaa't oooooo's that are maybe what you would think of as beginning these types of warmups. Ugh on me, I've regressed on the clock one, though some health problems have arisen. Yeah, not letting me get away with that I know....thanks a lot ~ peace light and music ~ along with 💖

Hi Mark, I've been doing your exercises for more than a year and I've improved a lot and still working on it. I can now sing throughout my range comfortably on a low volume though, I am able to sing high notes (which I thought I would never be able to sing). My question is how can I sing loud with that comfort, I notice when I sing in a conversation level volume Im in control of the sound i sing in tune (to some extent) but when I try to increase the volume I sound flat, the tone as well doesn't sound good . I really want to sing loud. Is there anyway you could help me with that.
The issue is in the approach. When you think "louder" you imagine the sound to require more effort. That makes your body brace in anticipation. That compromises control. Instead - think about a communication. For instance, say the word "no" like someone asked you a simple question. Then say no again like the person just asked you the same question and you're slightly annoyed you have to answer again. Then say NOOOO like the person is really bugging you by asking the same thing over and over. The point is to focus on the result - not the effort.
@@voicelessondotcom so does that mean I should focus on the sound I want ( how loud ) by increasing the volume in small increments while vocalizing or warmup Thanks for helping, really means alot
I’ve heard different things about breathing from the nose. On one hand, supposedly you get more air when breathing through your nose, but breathing your mouth lifts the soft palette? Which way is more efficient in maximizing breath? Or is it different for each person?
The only reason a nose is on your face is to inhale. That's why smell receptors are in there. That's why it's lined with mucus membrane to cleanse the air of particles. That's why nitric oxide is produced in the nasal cavity. The only reason to inhale through the mouth when singing is a time restraint. It's quicker to inhale through the mouth - but never better.
Voice Lesson.com Hmm... interesting. I’ll give it a try. I need to maximize my breath and I tend to struggle with breathing through my nose. Here goes!
Hello sir, first of all I want to appreciate you because you've been on of my great pillars in my singing journey and I tnk you for that...I can sing within my mix territory now and am greatful.....but I have this question, just as no one ever get satisfied with what they wish to have but now have it lol. Well my question is why does my high note sounds raspy and edgy at my upper voice A#4 above__ Its sounds little free but doesn't sound smooth too me,kind of wavey but not Shakey; Please what could be the reason.?
Ahhh - but those high notes DON'T sound raspy and edgy at every volume nor on every vowel! When they are that way it's simply a disagreement between resonator (your throat & mouth), vibrator (your vocal folds) and the air flow. So work backwards. Sing B4 in a way that allows for a clear sound - no matter the volume or vowel. gradually explore the neighborhood (play with changing the shape of the vowel and adjust the volume). You'll need to adjust your behavior when singing up there to agree with the physics of sound - or else you'll get random results. This doesn't mean you can't create the sound you want - it means you can't approach it like the lower notes.
Hi Marx...Suhasini here. Its really an excellent exercise but when I try to sing high notes I am short of breath and even voice starts sounding scratchy. So can breath in between when I am going high? And how do I get rid of the hoarse and scratchy especially when I go high??😔
Both issues are related. Your throat is locking up as you sing higher so the voice becomes inefficient (loose breath) and sounds scratchy. The solution is to allow the resonance of your voice to move as you sing higher. You should feel the low notes down in your body but as you sing higher allow the feeling to travel up and back between your ears. Your voice may crack or cut out when you first try this - that's OK - it just takes a little coordination to smooth it out. Avoiding those cracks is what's causing your current problem.
@@voicelessondotcom Thanks a lot.I will follow your tips. But please elaborate how to allow the feeling to travel up and back between ears...🙏As I have not understood how to do this
What kind of trilling happens in my throat when you can't hold back the giggling while doing the exercise? Oh, I can laugh the way I used to again, whenever I want to~
@@voicelessondotcom I second that adagio! Have you idea of how many times I - like everyone here - went like that, from vocalizing to cackling? I think you have. You, Sir, are a riot!🤗
Nothing wrong with a breathy sound if it's intentional. What I'm referring to is the association that high notes are always either breathy or belted. You'll develop much deeper skills if you focus on maintaining a consistent volume and clear tone as you vocalize higher. That will really expand your choices when singing!
