Easy way how to install the retaining ring on the drive shaft bellows of a Mercruiser Alpha 1 gen 2 

Oh my god thank you for this. I’ve been fighting mine the last 3 days and was getting ready to take it to a shop this saved me money

If out a bit when you bolt leg on it squeezes everything in solid.

Put some wheather stripping adhesive heavy all around metal ring first and don’t over push. I checked twice went in perfect.

Cut my pvc with my radial arm saw both ends perfectly square.

Should be 3 1/4” from edge of metal band to edge of the housing.

Hey guys But there’s an easier solution. Chunk of white PVC 4” pipe, fits perfect, and a piece of 3/4” plywood drilled to the 4 bolt leg mounting bolt pattern and In solid in 2 minutes

Thank you!!!!! Question there are two grooves in the outside rubber bellow that fit in the groove of the bell housing. From the outside towards in, which groove do you use?? The second seams to fit better but I question if this is correct? Thank you again so happy you posted this!!

How tight should that fit be? I have the opposite issue. I can install by hand and remove by hand. Should it be very hard to remove it?
