the easy way to split a bag of cement in half, or split a bag of sand in half. when it comes to making mortar or and mix that requires ratios you need to often split the bags of cement in half so that its easy to get the same ratio ie... 5-1 mix or 4 to 1 mix of sane and cement. you can decant the cement into a bucket and work it out like that but i like to just cut the cement bag in half and go from there.
in this video i show you how i divide a bag of cement in two and also at the same time a bag of sand. i first lay down a sheet to catch any spillages and make for easy tidying then i put a large stick like this wooden stake or i have used a broom handle to split bags of cement in half but this is easier with the stake, i then lay the bag of cement onto the stake in the middle same with the sand, then slice the bags in the centre over the stake, lift the stake and then finally cut the remaining packaging and i have 2 perfectly split bags of cement and sand. as easy as that.
