Excellent! It would be helpful to also wrap the bottle with something reflective or dark to keep the soil out of the light and prevent algae from growing, stealing nutrients from the tomato plant, as well as slowing the evaporation of water from the soil.

I have to admit when I started watching this video that I was thinking that this isn't going to work but by the end you had me convinced that I should try it in a few areas around the back side of my house here where I didn't have the area to grow on the ground but I do if I use the fence and a 2 liter plastic bottle. Thanks so much for the video and suggestion about how to do this.

♥️I can almost smell the tomato leaves♥️ my grandfather had a produce greenhouse, and I remember transplanting hundreds of tomato plants for him. It was fun and relaxing. As I have a young dog who spazzes around my yard, I will definitely try this this summer. Sadly, our growing season here is sometimes only 60-80 days for stuff like tomatoes and cucumbers. Fruits are even shorter. Greetings from Northern Ontario! Thank you so much for this!

Awesome. One thing I would improve: push the plant back after inserting into the bottleneck so as to leave the leaves (no pun intended) close to the bottle nose, but the stem is in where it will grow more roots once the dirt covers it. The stem will grow more roots and that will mature the plant quicker and create a more effective root system.

can you send me one organic tomato? I want to taste it! I cannot feel the real joy just by watching it in my computer screen :)

The better way would be to plant it on the wider side and the narrow one for drainage. Plant it upright.

I'm curious if the tomatoes were smaller because it just didn't get as much dirt or have as much room for the roots or if it's just because of the variety.. Love your videos

the plant also took major shock when he tore the leaves off, probably stunted the growth

Great idea! Going to try this ASAP it’s warm here. Thank you! question please? Could I grow from seed, thru the neck, then turn the bottle, cut off base and hang or would it negatively affect the plant turning it upside down?
