If you followed my channel you’ve noticed that I’ve had this machine and the Gaggia Classic for a while but recently, I’ve used the Rocket machine to have my daily fix.
Remove your porta filter and the basket. Insert the blind basket that comes with your machine. I usually fill about 5-10g of Puly’s coffee machine cleaner. Lock in your portafilter and pull a couple of ‘shots’. You will notice the water that is released from the excess outlet behind the grouphead is a little murky.
No matter what type of water you used. Filtered, tap, mineral or bottled water, chances are there will be build up of minerals such as calcium and magnesium that accumulates inside the heating element of your coffee machine. Therefore, cleaning the machine every few days or few weeks depends on your usage, is crucial to maintain a healthy machine. A clean machine also makes very delicious coffee.
Once you’re done, prepare to clean the water tank.
Remove the top area and gently pull out the water tank. Be careful so you don’t spill any water to the internals. Once done washing, refill with fresh water and placed it back.
I also used Puly’s powder solution to clean my porta filter, filter basket and also grouphead shower screen. The powder works effectively when mixed with boiled water so be sure to pour that and mix with the solution.
I used a teaspoon to gentyly pry out the showerhead and rubber gasket. Becareful if your machine is warm so you don’t burn yourself. I used a cloth to hold the shower head so apologies for the bad angle.
One reason I like to clean when it’s warm, is that all the oil residue from the coffee will become ‘softer’ therefore easier to wipe out with mild detergent or water.
After soaking the parts for a while, you’ll also notice the change of color in the solution. All the coffee residues are being removed and just rinse with some water afterwards.
I also took the drip tray and give it a good wash with some dish washing liquid.
I also used Puly’s metal polish to clean the exterior of the machine. Just spray the solution on a damp cloth and then wipe it.Once you’re done, placed all back and you’re ready to make a delicious cup of coffee.
