@@catzel1ps452 Carbs are important for sport performance as well for pregnant women. 95% people fall out of keto diet after 3 years so its not for everyone. Keto was invented for cancer patients not the public. Carbs are essential for the human body.
Been doing intermittent fasting and keto and lots of walking and in two months my bad cholesterol came down 27%. My doctor was threatening to put me on meds for it! She was amazed!!
Damn, that was enlightening - thank you so much for simplifying such complexities. Facing the medical institution for a simple answer is like walking in a minefield, not one gives the right answer nor cares.
The vendors will try to sell you a bad form of Chromium like "Chromium Picolinate". Instead, buy one of the safer, healthier forms which have "GTF" on the label. GTF stands for ''glucose tolerance factor". These studies all used the proper chemical forms of Chromium. Proper dose is never more than 200 mcg. KAL sells GTF form at $5 > $6 for 100# of 200 mcg.
Just joined Thrive and got free shipping for food and the frozen meats + the free gift the big plus was no hidden sugars in the meat. I'm doing IF 18/6 + keto and don't want to sabotage my progress with hidden carbs Ty for linking them & having them as a sponsor. I ordered the turkey and ham combo ( plus other meats) , so I really look forward to having it for the holiday. I'm 300 pounds ( was size 28 , now closing in on size 24 dropping huge belly fat/insulin resistant gut - easily 20 pounds in this short time period) and age 53. If I want to see age 65, if I want to live that long, I have to change. Your videos and Thrive are my road map to that success. I've watch at least 2 -3 videos a day since I started 10 days ago. It really helps me be motivated and educated. I cannot thank you enough for helping me deprogram my brain and embrace a better lifestyle.
16:8 IF is great. However, going 20:4 and depleting the liver/muscle glycogen and replenishing it again through refeeding has it's benefits. I do this for few weeks before vacations and holidays because it helps on the longer cheat days.
do an extended fast followed by ultra low carb for at least a month, no cheating. if u try to reduce slowly it'll take waaaay longer. its a hormonal/psychological addiction complex around food that goes deep, u don't even realize how deep till u try to fast for a long time. ur body has to learn to crave nutritious food. ur mind has to learn to not eat out of boredom. u'll always want to binge on carbs when u have them, thats an evolutionary instinct to put on weight for winter by gorging on fruit when its ripe.
@@RagdyAndy I feel the difference when I drink it or not. I don’t drink it all the time. I can easily feel when my blood sugar is too high/low and I have less of those symptoms when I drink green tea while/before/after eating.
Green tea also helps with my post food nausea and fatigue. I guess you could test it and see if you feel any effects of it. I’m not saying green tea is a miracle, but it just helps me personally
Thomas in editing, I personally would like it much more if you would reduce the volume on the background music probably at least 33%. I find the background music distracting when I am trying to listen what you are saying at the same time. Thank you, Sam
Brilliant. Such well researched tips, particularly for people prone to diabetes. Really appreciate the hard work and effort you put into your videos. Thank you. This information is so vital.
Interesting...I might try splitting my carbs at least for my long runs as I usually have before a workout..~I like the Glut 4 transporters on the Ladies also.
@@oysteinsoreide4323 Some weeks I find it very easy, some weeks it really sucks, but it's certainly helped me lose a bit of weight that I couldn't budge any other way.
I have been doing keto and IF from 7 weeks. My lipid lab results 4days ago when i went for annual physicals: Triglycerides - 317 HDL - 30 LDL - vldl 54 nih(ldl chol calc) 104 Vitamin d - 20 ng/ml All the other test results came out good. Height 5ft11inch , weight 189lb Male Doc wanted me put on medication. But I want to follow Keto and IF, did not start taking med drug s. Am I doing correct?
Thomas DeLauer, have never seen you talk about TMAO, unless I missed something. Can you talk about this problem with the Keto diet. I'm on Keto and a bit concerned about it.
Hi Thomas ! Thank you so much for your awesome videos ! I would have a request, especially about the last part of this video and go deeper in the 5-2 formula explanation… like menu or what to eat not eat on the 2 days 600 cals… thank you so much in advance aND FOR EVERYTHING !
THAN, YOU FOR SPEAKING SLOWER THAN OTHER VIDEOS. Thomas, I've been listening to your videos for 2 years . I love the info and the passion and integrity. But honestly, I normally can follow only about 20% of what you're saying because the words are just too fast for Me. I don't want to sound ungrateful or critical. Just want to to know that THIS speed is a total pleasure for me, and I was able to understand and follow , until the last minutes where things speeded up and was too fast for me.
2% or less of the excess calories from carbs that you eat are stored as fat, fact. Look it up. 2% over a week or 2 isn't anything, 2% over 365 days adds up.
Not true. If glucose is not immediately needed for energy, the body can store up to 2,000 calories of it in the liver and skeletal muscles in the form of carbs . Once glycogen stores are full, up to 60% of carbs are stored as fat. Sad but true.
Depends on the activity level. An athlete would probably not store any fat even if they downed a bunch of carb due to their level of activity and vice versa.
@@MomenKhaiti Athletes make up less than 5% of the population (a ridiculously generous estimate, in fact), so how their bodies use glucose is irrelevant for the rest of us.
@@yelenaangeleski3354 It was just an extreme example to make a point not a generalization per say. The point is it really does depend on the level of activity.
I am looking to add cinnamon I have been taking Chromium for a good while now. ....may I ask which cinnamon you like best and how much you take? Thanks
Isn’t there a type of cinnamon that is better?? What amounts of chromium showed significant results? Which trivalent chromium in the chloride (CrCl3) or picolinate (CrPic) salt forms mobilize the glucose transporter better? Thank u
If you are not overeating calories I don't see why your body would be storing carbs as fat. Humans are naturally carb burning creatures. If you eat more than your body needs then you might store some fat. Which brings up the point that your body will store fat before carbs. With regards to the study, the group that severely calorie restricted 2 days a week did marginally better than those who didn't. No surprise there, all groups lost weight, 5% or greater. Simple, don't over eat and you won't gain weight.
Saw your video on ice cream in which you were promoting Enlighten. Quick question, How much did they pay you to promote a product with corn, soy, wheat and syrup?
@@TheYangnyin yeah, I was keto for 9 months. But still not sure how low or high my fat should be for maintaining or losing still if I want to have a little more carbs. Thank you!
Reality Check: you cannot go diet till forever.......it's just a matter of habit of limiting consumed quantity and self discipline.........you can stay fit and healthy while enjoy food to the extent of just limiting the amount you consume.
Using wifi analogy to talk about chromium lol. Google chromium? But yeah, just look at pictures of Bruce Lee, he drank green tea like drinking water and look how ripped he was. No study needed bruh, just look at the past.
You can't out exercise a bad diet, and you also can't out supplement a bad diet. At the end of the day, your best bet is using these as tools while focusing primarily on a healthy, low glycemic diet. I've been taking cinnamon, EGCG, Berberine, Fiber, etc. I am sure they help, but if I eat half a pizza and some dessert I am going to store fat regardless of supplements beforehand. There is no magic, but when you put everything together (good diet, exercise, hydration, sleep and supplements) then the results will be worth the effort.
Yeah I think those things mainly just help with spiking your insulin/blood sugar less. Certainly good for preventing insulin resistance but that's about it.
Completely agreed, when you supplement you tend not to focus on the main issue at heart, which is always low carb, and under maintenance calories to lose weight.
What I'm about to suggest is almost impossible when eating sweets, but eat a couple of pieces and save it for the next day...my weakness is glazed donuts...so I get a whole pack...takes me a week to eat them...back in my skinny fat days...I would eat the whole pack in a day...lol
@@julescolorado They'll just say eat some vegs every day & exercise. Even dieticians--have you seen what they serve in hospitals??? they supposedly have dieticians on staff. Regardless, even if they don't, the medical establishment Clearly does not care / know that nutrition is crucial. They'd rather you get ill, then sell you drugs / surgery to patch you up.
Sadly, too many people will take this info as permission to continue to eat carbs that are unhealthy. Stick to whole foods, no grains or processed foods.
Only take the ""Ceylon''' or the ''True'' types of cinnamon. Avoid the unsafe types as in "Cassia" or Cassia Bark"" which are often from China and are laced with risky aldehydes.
Almost all foods have carbs, also the foods that we like have lots of carbs. What is working for me is to eat only veggies that grow above the ground. Eat more of the veggies that have the least amount of carbs per 100 grams and less of those that have more carbs .Then I get a recipes for desserts that have little or no sugar. We all can do it . It requires a change of taste.
Money is an issue that everyone has for a better and luxurious life. Life was hard for me until I started making profits on my investment with the help of Tisha Lauri
I make huge profits on my investment since I started trading with Mrs Tisha Lauri, her trading strategies are top notch coupled with the little commission she charges on her trade
As a first time investor I started trading with Mrs Tisha with just a thousand bucks. my portfolio is worth much more that now within just weeks of trading with her.
I’ve been using cinnamon for about 2years & my A1C has progressively been lower, my glucose readings are normal to borderline. I ordered chromium & it should be here soon. I’m so thankful for your help in all aspects of regards to better health!!
Please look into Dr Jason Fung, Dr Robert Lustig and Dr Sten Ekberg. The first two have books and videos, Sten has a prolific RU-vid channel. I'm glad DeLauer's videos have been helpful to you and that you've learned things that have helped with your health but it's important to get a broader perspective. Perhaps your A1C is lower because you're eating real food, lots of healthy fats and less carbohydrate? I see the studies suggesting that cinnamon has an effect but the bigger effect is going to be had by a consistent healthy diet and reasonable exercise. If you have weight to lose, don't go overboard with exercise, we don't want our bodies to get the message that they should store energy and that is a danger with going overboard. There is also some research suggesting that HIIT (high intensity interval training) is better. Where you would bike and then go hard for two or three minutes then more leisurely than hard again and repeat a few times. Rather than exercising for hours each day high intensity interval training causes human growth hormone to increase for the 24 hours after the exercise, this burns more calories without causing our bodies to reduce the amount of calories burned or lower basal metabolic rate. The important thing is to eat healthily, intermittent fast, eat less frequently and get good exercise. What is good will vary from person to person. Mr DeLauer's exercise regimen will probably not be appropriate for everyone. If I worked out the way he does my body would burn fewer calories because I don't have the same amount of muscle mass. It's great to have sources we trust. It's also useful to have additional sources. If you were already doing all of this, then I apologize for the unsolicited advice.
Thomas, thank you for another wonderful and informative video. Question: Brewing ceylon cinnamon sticks with coffee and green tea will work the same way of having it in powder form? Lots of love x
I would think having the powder would be more stronger and have a more profound effect. It’s like having matcha rather than regular green tea. Both beneficial but matcha has more abundance of ecgc. Same could apply with cinnamon
Uhhhhh.... Broke faste after 48 hours yesterday, ate broth and some nice fish yesterday Craved chocolate and a bit of carbs, so 50g of 85% coco chocolate on a slice of ryebread. I'm pretty damn sure, I know how heroin works now 😋. Ohhhh, what a rush. Best cheat day ever, haven't had a proper carb or chocolate day for 2 months now.
My Japanese parents ( both 80’s ) always have a cup of green tea after meals. Every day habit years and they are very slim and very healthy. They eat 3 times a day but no snacking between meals. In general they don’t eat sweets or chocolates, never had fast foods.
@@sjt7028 Green Tea has caféine, so I don’t drink after 3pm otherwise I can’t sleep in the evening. But my parents get used to it and they have very early dinner at around 6pm. It depends on person, I guess.
Need more explanations. Found this on WebMD "Some studies have shown that chromium supplements may be helpful for people with type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance (prediabetes). There’s good evidence that chromium can lower glucose levels and improve insulin sensitivity, although not all studies have shown a benefit. It may be that chromium works better if someone is chromium deficient, which is usually only seen if a person has poor overall nutrition. Other studies have also found that chromium may help with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), which is linked to insulin resistance."
