Could you do a video on your philosophy for your life? You touch on it every now and then but, would like to hear a dedicated video on that from you. You have many people like myself who sort of look up to you. Even if its vague with some general ideas it would be nice.

Juan really? That looks like a pretty standard meal, to me. One thing to note is the body size. I don't know exactly how tall he is but he looks to be between 140 and 170 pounds. I'm 5'9" 155 lbs for reference, and i think i eat around the same for a meal as the fish dish he showed and I am never very hungry at the end.

If everyone did this and invested the difference over time, depending on age, they could retire waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay earlier...in years...possibly a decade if one started extremely early. I've been tracking all my expenditures to the penny the last ~6 years. The #1 thing I wasted money on (and still): eating out (out of convenience or boredom). People #&*$# and complain all the time about not having enough money. Often times they do, they just don't practice defensive spending.

You are right. I used to eat out all the time for convenience sake, mostly...and of course, social aspect when I lived in Manhattan. Now, living outside the city and full-time mom life...I cook all of our meals M-F and try to limit eating out one meal on the weekend, maybe two at most. We are pretty modest in our tastes. This past weekend I was shock when two bagels and two iced coffees came out to $15.00 for me and my daughter. Coffees were eventually poured down drain unfinished as gave us both stomach aches. Eating out is a bit "skeevy" as my daughter's grandmother would say. lol You don't know who is preparing the food, cleanliness, quality of ingredients and more and more I get stomach issues afterward...So, yeah...I'd rather cook simple meals for us and save the $$$

Eating western food in general is more expensive, and american grocery stores are more expensive than asian markets. I typically eat 1-2lbs of chicken daily, brown rice and green veggies(right now I'm on keto so no rice) so typically I get by on around $40 a week, but that's a very bland and healthy diet. Most people won't go for that even if they can't find cheap junk food options.
@silviag3798
@silviag3798 6 лет назад
🤣The lightsaber sounds. 🤣 One thing that strikes me about your food budget is that you eat very little over all, compared to the average person. You skip breakfast and don't snack much, for example. That in itself will help with budgeting. I consider myself to be an economical grocery shopper too, but I eat 3 meals plus snacks, so even if everything I bought was very cheap, I'd still be spending at least 1/3 more. Kinda puts dieting in a different light, as a potential money-saver
@BeatTheBush
@BeatTheBush 6 лет назад
I don't eat snacks normally because I don't get hungry. But my metabolism is pretty high still as I can eat like a crazy person sometimes and remain the same weight. I can eat like this and remain the same weight. Something doesn't add up.

Same. I eat three square meals plus snacks. I guess some of us just need more "fuel" than others. There are many youtubers here who eat next to nothing in order to stick to a strict budget. I work hard and can not afford to be hungry all day. I don't know how they do it. There is one gal on here who claims she is thriving on $50.00 a month groceries. Hmmmm.

BeatTheBush I bet you can eat on a dollar a day if you are good at bartering down prices, but I kind of want to help these poor people have a better life and not rip them off so I choose to not barter down too much or agressively. Just barter down at a medium rate. I went to India and Nepal last year. When we ate out meals were usually less than a dollar to 2 dollars. I guess we did eat alot of meals on less than a dollar from bartering on the street markets. I think our food budget was 2-3 dollars a meal per person.

I guess the purpose was not to get it as cheap as possible. I ate what I wanted and what was a good deal also. I suppose I can try to create meals for cheaper if that was the goal.

Do you have any suggestions for low cost meals for people who like to eat a bit more (besides doubling the quantity)? I've noticed that my typical meal by volume tends to be about 1.5 to 2 times as large as what you tend to show in your videos.

Add fruits after a meal which I do anyway most of the time. Add a bit more grains can help too.

Do you share the excel sheet you made by any chance? Or do you have any general format that you recommend to record this type of data? Thanks.

Why dont ya open a restaurant

I noticed when you eat out you go for more complexity, noticed that while you were on vacation. Anyway, that is why you're so slim and healthy. Do you drink a lot of water?
@BeatTheBush
@BeatTheBush 6 лет назад
Let the restaurants do the complexity so that I can make simple food at home to save time. I drink water... not sure about a lot but I drink it when I feel thirsty.

Varies A LOT depending if I have events to go to. I used to spend as much as $500/month but these days, I avoid eating out as much as possible.

How do you do "part" of an egg, there's only 1 yolk, do you split it or just use egg white on one of the times

Recently a local market had chicken legs, (drums / thighs) on sale for $.29 per pound. Good size and quality. Needless to say, they got used to make lots of chicken stock, chicken dinners, chicken sandwiches etc. Pretty much chicken damn everything. But all of it was tasty. A full-size meal would come in at around $2.00 with spuds, rice, salad, etc.

@BeatTheBush 6 лет назад
Wow that's cheap. You can make the chicken taste very very different. Try this grill, it is yet another way to eat that chicken: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6wn7c3GeDKg.html

Please tell me that you bought at least 50 pounds and put it in the freezer. Whenever I find chicken at a good price, I buy as much as I can. The best price I have found in my area was 59 cents a pound, but it had a lot of broken bones with sharp bone chips. So maybe it wasn't really a bargain if you have to be concerned about safety.

Curious as to why you add the barley? Is a nutritional thing or do you just enjoy the taste more than rice alone?

I added it to reduce sugar spikes for health reasons. After having it for a while, I actually liked it. I could eat either though.
