We were there that evening too. The older gentleman Sitting just behind you was Oscar himself with guests. His wife who was also there is the Mayor of Las Vegas! Added bonus!

It’s called Oscar’s because it’s named after Oscar Goodman. In the 60s 70s and 80s he was known as the mob lawyer. He defended people like Anthony Spilotro, Meyer Lansky, Frank “Lefty Rosenthal (who the movie Casino was about), Herbert Blitzstein, Nicodemo Scarfo and Jamiel “Jimmy” Chagra. Then in 1999 he became Mayor of Las Vegas until 2011. He was known to travel with two Las Vegas Showgirls and loved his martinis. After his tenure was over his wife Carolyn Goodman took the reins. She is still our mayor.

I used to live in Vegas, and we loved going to the buffets. Had several kids, so we could never afford a good steakhouse, but wish we had. Your food looks amazing, and is making me hungry for a steak right now! I always worry that something is going to get spilled down the front of your beautiful dresses. I guess that's the grandma in me. Enjoy Vegas! 💕👍

Raina... this may have been mentioned - couldn't read all 400 comments! When I moved here in the 80's it was the "Union Plaza" Hotel and Casino (history would have that location as a Union Pacific train terminal, with train tracks behind the structure) and what is now Oscar's, decades ago, had had no dome... no need for one - it was an open air round pool accessible from the 2nd floor, and is today front and center and what you walk under at the entrance to the Plaza (look up... it's round!). Previously the "pool" has been a number of restaurants - as the novelty of a pool overlooking Fremont Street (now "The Experience") wore off. I'm always glad to especially see your Vegas videos. I absolutely LOVE the Plaza hotel in Vegas! Raina, go down to the Heart Attack Grill on Fremont and get the Quadruple Bypass burger! If you don’t eat it all, they will paddle your butt. Don’t forget the fries cooked in LARD!

I would too. I don't like big hunks of fat, but the tender meat with the light marbling, and flavor of being cooked on the bone is what draws me to a tomahawk.
