@@KingKogi never let anything dull your shine. I love your content whether it be, as king kogi or with eat your sushi. You are the light of these channels and you make such beautiful content. Keep it up. From one Canadian spoonie to another. Love you Martina
Just a random Japanese living in Tokyo who recently discovered your channel. I absolutely love and appreciate how respectful you are with everything and being so informative about Japan and it’s very unique (sometimes peculiar, even to me lol) culture all whilst having fun!! Thank you so much!!
@@missplainjane3905 I think it’s inconsiderate to ask these questions to a random person who was just commenting on a RU-vid video. It’s really strange of you actually. How about using Google to find the answers to these questions from Japanese folks who offered to answer them rather than bothering random Japanese folks on RU-vid?
@@missplainjane3905 you can find unbiased answers from blog posts or even native Japanese youtubers who may have answered those exact questions in a video. You act like the only way to get a true perspective is to annoy people online. You’re right, they have a choice, but that doesn’t make your behavior any less odd.
It really is a small world. I'm an eds person, and a good friend of mine has Huntington's disease. We met up for lunch a few weeks ago and were catching up. I don't even remember which one of us brought it up, but we got to talking about RU-vidrs we enjoy. Turns out we both have been subbed to you for years! We both feel like you're a kindred spirit, and you make our days brighter. (We also both watch Rachel and Jun... Go figure!) I hope this brings a bit of brightness to your day, the way you brighten ours! 💜
I really hope whoever makes/puts down the CROD stickers reaches out to Martina - what a delightful collab that would be! Some King Kogi x CROD stickers, dotting Tokyo's alleys and random sticker spots!
I'm loving this Tokyo tour series. I'm especially looking forward to seeing what other Crod stickers you find. Are you somehow documenting each one, like in a scrapbook of some sort?
I have been taking pictures of CROD and other sticker around Japan since before I even moved here! Haha, I started when I visited Japan while living in Korea. I have an album on my phone called "Stickers of Japan" and "Stickers of Toronto" and I just snap photos and add them to the folder. I can see the place and geo-tag location that way. It is insane how long I have been hunting down CROD...
@@KingKogi I love that! Especially the geo-location tag. I can only imagine the collection you have at this point. I'm extremely curious as to whether these stickers serve any type of purpose. Who are the master minds behind decorating Tokyo with these stickers? 🤔
@@neru470 I am ignorant to the CROD stickers and can't seem to find any decent info on them. Is there a meaning I am unaware of or is it an inside joke I am not privy to?
Love ""seeing"" Dan again! He's always been so funny and charming. Think you can convince him to make an on-screen appearance for us again? Love the content as always; thank you so much for your great energy!
I really love how strategically placed these commercials are. Right in the middle of each little fun fact. It's remeniscent of the old times when sailor moon was on standard television, or guessing which Pokemon it was 😋 I love this series so much !
YESSSSSS TAMRA!!!! That is exactly what I was going for! I was irritated with enjoying a RU-vid video and suddenly an ad came out of nowhere ruining the vibe. So I planned Tokyo Tours to be like Sailor Moon or Pokemon, but with the interesting and nerdy things I like, like trivia or facts. So I actually hand-lay each ad to be in-between the Question and Answer so people can think about the answer, and so that it doesn't disturb the video flow. RU-vid might add some of it's own ads too, but I hope they aren't too disruptive.
@@KingKogi Absolutely not! They were perfectly timed! I just love how much effort and consideration you put into your videos. 🥹 Thank you for all the big and little things you do!
As a fellow chronic illness warrior, thank you Martina for always showing us the greatness of Japan and the joy of exploring it despite the pain and symptom issues 🌸 Hopefully one day I will get to travel to Japan when I’m older and experience the wonder ✨🍄
This series is right up my alley! I’m 79 and am quite stagnant and am always looking for new. Studio Ghibli seems intriguing and I’m about to pursue it. Martina dahlink, this newish series you have created is just lovely. I love menus and really, really swooned over your last episode. It appeared to be an upscale version of Fran’s resto in TO complete with the big menu! Today I just wanted to be with you exploring and sampling everything. I have long wanted to try Japanese curry and rice but those cream puffs take the cake🙄. You seem to be really getting settled in Nippon and I send my best wishes for success. Cheers, Colin
Feeling a bit sore today, major rain storm ughhhhhhhhhh and had to cancel shooting because I was too much in pain, but reading the comments and chatting with the community is adding some rungs to the ladder
I used to be obsessed with EYK videos wayyyy back in the day when I was in high school (tbh it's been years since I've actually tuned into one though), and I really love the new direction you're taking with King Kogi! I feel like it's so uniquely you.. Super chill. Love the videos!
Love this series thus far! I'm glad you're going through and adventuring Japan's hidden gems. Too many videos are already made on popular tourist spots. Nice to see more, everyday, things
That's exactly how I felt, you don't really need me to show you the spots that have been covered a million times both in video and in written format...but what about all the hard to find spots? The ones that take a few years of living in Japan to discover? That's what inspired me to make a new series and to try and encourage more off the beaten path adventures 👩🏻🦳🚀✨
I really love both the effort and the artistry of your postproduction work! It adds so much to the experience. Been a fan of your editing and producing skills for many years but you still impress in 2022, even with the general production quality of RU-vidrs getting better and better.
Thank you very much! 🙇🏼♀️ All the pigs, dragons, and other cute doodles are all my own, and I do my own editing. I made the theme music for Tokyo Tours as well 🎶 But I’ll pass the compliment onto my co-worker Dan (he brought the images to life via Adobe After Effects) and he is the other camera person in the this video. I do the close up artsy shots and he catches the glorious wide shots.
This is my favorite genre of tourism. I love slowly exploring, not having much of an agenda, and having the time to notice the small details that make living in another country so unique.
I love how this episode feels so professional yet so homemade. It feels like something I would watch on Netflix while still having the charme all of your videos always had. I've been following your adventures ever since you first moved to Japan and your content has helped me through some really, really hard times. Thank you for that Martina, you're an inspiration to me and I'm glad I get to follow you around on your little adventures. 🤍
This series is so incredibly calming and joyful 🥰 Editing is top notch as always! Thank you for sharing this with us, Martina! ❤️ Also your hairstyle is so cute! 😍 I recently started adapting this slow exploring type of travel myself as opposed to hopping through all the tourist hot spots in a sprint and I find it very rewarding. With bloggers like you popularizing it, more and more people will join the trend! P.S. great to see the return of Dan’s hand 😃
Martina, your editing skills just get better and better. This is seriously like Netflix-level quality. I am loving this new style of video. It seems so authentically you. As a fan from the very beginning, it brings me so much joy to see you continue to thrive.
I'll pass on the comment *screen shot and text* he's got a great eye for cinematography and he's very patient with my rambling on about tiny things like CROD haha 😂
6:51 the Toyko is Yours graphitti. The last time I saw this was aback in 2014 when I went to Tokyo! I didnt know it was a street tag thing, though it is only the second time I have seen it. heh, I have it on my lock screen for my phone to this day. So coo! Well, I have done a bit of research and as it turns out, the Tokyo is Yours tag belongs to a clothing brand. I have taken the grahpetti for something more, for indeed it gave me hope. I took the tag litterally. So graphetti tag or a deeper meaning, it still means so much to me.
First, congratulations... Your videos are cool and chill and everything the world needs. I love how much you've grown in your craft and how true to yourself you are!!! In another video you said if we had requests for things we wanted to see, and I have one... you seem to be a plant nerd like me... could you do a tokyo tour or a little video on parks, or paths or even a plant nursery??? where there is cool trees or plants? I just love their beautiful flora and they are culture that really appreciates their gardens. Anywhooooo... keep up the amazing work!
10:51 I love it when you were laughing yourself silly about the ‘Jirish’ and ‘croddy pot of gold’. You’re such a lovely person who sees joy in the little things in life that people have become numb to. I’m striving to see enjoyment in little things in life like you do, thank you for just living your life and bringing us along. Love the feel and vibes of your Tokyo tours. ❤️
Not going to lie, this made me cry a little. I missed the food pron videos and voice, and I'm so very happy to see you up and about and exploring the way my current health has not yet allowed me to in my own home. And is that Dan?! Well, that just completes the warm and fuzzy! If that IS Dan Dan, fans know he doesn't care for the camera; we're just happy knowing he's around, letting Martina steal his ice cream.
I love Martina so much, her personality cheers me up and makes my day better. Learning about Japan is a plus! Love you, Martina and I wish all the best for King Kogi!!!
This came out at the right moment. Threw out my back and I am in bed with a heating pad when all of a sudden I see this video and a smile spread across my face and I felt better. I am glad you and Dan hang out now that you're back in Japan. I am also glad to see you doing well and seem so calm and happy.
Honestly I'm super into the Crod spottings. I always thought I was the only one who got excited over seeing my local tagger and sticker people but I'm so glad I'm not the only one, very invested in where we'll see the stickers next!
Martina I ADORE the slow paced exploring style videos. It’s what made me fall in love with EYK so many years ago, and kept me watching despite having zero interest in kpop etc. I just wanna check places out with you. The yummy, the interesting, the mundane….it’s so lovely. Thank you for this content.
I can't wait to watch this video! My mom and I have been binging all your videos on King Kogi. Since my mother is essentially a Caribbean version of you, she was obsessed with the green skirt you were wearing in your first Toyko Tours video. May I ask where you bought it? Much Love 💜🐷💜
I bought it on Etsy from a seamstress years and years ago but when I looked up her shop to share the link, it seems she has shut her store! I'm sorry 😅 please say hello to your mom from me~
I mentioned a few videos ago that I was watching while I was in labor. Well, my daughter, Georgiana Martine arrived, shortly after! Yup, Martine (because Martina would sound awkward with Georgiana). You're an inspiration and I hope my Georgie grows up to be positive and strong, like you! ❤️
OMG! This is the first and only channel that I leave the adds on! It just make me feel like a child watching the TV again Thank you for your amazing and hard work!!
Ahhhh exactly what I was going for! I was 100% inspired by the Sailor Moon and Pokémon pre-commercial screens and post-commercial screens! I know that ads are where I make income as a video creator, but at the same time, I’ve struggled with how irritating it is to watch a RU-vid video and have the ad ruin the flow and feeling, so I wanted to find some middle ground. Give something to the audience to think about (the trivia) while a “commercial break” let’s you pee and grab some snack 😂 and you can return to the show for the answer!
I moved to Tokyo just about 2 months ago and I still haven't gotten the hang of exploring especially by myself, but these tours help so much!! Thank you thank you for these little peeks into your adventures and I'm definitely picking up tips on the way too 🐷💕
Yes it it 💯 intimidating to explode alone, so don’t feel rushed or anything. Just the train stations alone take like a year to master. And still I catch the wrong train from time to time. Just explore your local area until you’re super comfy and then start spreading our your wings! That’s my suggestion 💕
Everything about this video was amazing. The editing was phenomenal, the locations were beautiful, and I loved how you take the time to appreciate the little things, like the stacked boxes or the lavender plants - finding excitement in the small things makes such a big difference in my mental health. Loved the places you took us today! And that Totoro pastry looked so lovely, and even without Fuji in the background, it was such a gorgeous horizon. Thank you King Kogi, for the adventure!
First of all, your hair is stunning 💜💗 Second of all, I love this Tokyo Tours series And third, the part when you were taking pictures of recycling bins and the vending machines is so relatable. I also enjoy taking pictures of simple daily items that people tend to overlook when I travel. Objects like stoplights, air conditioning units, construction signs in different languages that I can't even try to read! It's little things like that that I appreciate when I travel because it really gives character to the streets/ neighbourhood and it's fun to compare to the city where I live in now, and I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way Thank you for another wonderful Tokyo Tours episode 💕
These videos are always so cute. I get so excited every time I get the notifications. And as a huge fan of the food videos, these are IT!!!! Love the hair too.
Ahhh! I love this series. Wandering and taking in these small city moments are some of my favorite activities! I can’t wait to see where else you take us. Here’s to overpasses and squares!
These videos bring me such immense joy. I started watching in middle school and am getting ready to start my senior year this year. I have LOVED watching you and your content grow and change over the years. You are such a bright light in a world of darkness. I appreciate you and your content more than you’ll ever know, Thank you🤍
I really enjoy your filming style and how creative you got with your photography shots! I can tell you are trying out new styles and it's working for you
I’ve been watching you since I was in middle school! I am now 22 🤣💜💚 you continually inspire me everyday! Thank you for being my light in such dark times!! Your amazing Martina!!!
My chronic pain flared up right when I was trying to fall asleep so this video showed up at the perfect time!! I love your Tokyo tours series so much 💜💜💜
Ah I’m so sorry 😞 today is a big flare day for me too, I’ve been pushing myself a bit too hard and the weather is S H I T so I feel your pain. I hope I was able to give you a few smiles and a bit of a distraction 💕
Your videos are a like a little ray of sanity in my insane world. I'm going to show my 2 year old son and my baby daughter your videos. They'll love it!
My boyfriend and I want to go to Japan soon, and my least favorite thing is to follow tourist-y places (aka TripAdvisor, etc) so you’re videos are the perfect tour guide!
I've been a fan of Studio Ghibli since I was a kid, which grew into a deep appreciation for many aspects of Japanese culture. Like their Grade A recycling system and urban green spaces! Unfortunately I've never been able to visit... Stereotypical broke, stressed out millennial, y'know? I also grapple with chronic illness and have been watching your videos for more than a decade. So trust me when I say that this one ticks so many boxes for me. That Ghibli Cafe made me squeal (and what a beautiful building!) and it was neat to see just how walkable Tokyo really is. I love nerding out over mixed use zoning! I still hope to visit someday, but for the time being I'm just so glad that you're back and better than ever! Gorgeous video, perfect editing, and a host that makes you feel like you're there, if only for a few minutes... I hope you know how good you are at what you do!
>> Thank you so MUCH for actually putting the WORD to learn up on the screen in your videos ! - -- I wish more people were smart enough to do this ---- We actually LEARN something that way and I always wanted to learn a bit of Japanese --- so ....... THANK YOU for putting up the words and how to pronounce them - ---- Cheers to you and may wonderful pos. Karma come your way soon and also smile greatly upon tour channel !
Wandering on non-tourist paths is what I love doing on vacations. When my bf and I went to San Francisco, we tried to experience SF like someone living and working there while most tourists go straight to Fisherman’s Warf. It was a weekday and the lunch hour just hit. We were on Kearny St where everybody was coming down from the big buildings to go get lunch. We saw which places had lines out the door. Pretty much we were soaking in the energy of the people going to lunch and we were picturing where we’d be going if we were them (obviously trying not to get in their way since they are working and we were two tourists observing busy people go eat). Your trip to the curry place reminded me of our SF trip because it was the Japanese curry shop that had the long line out the door and people walking out with cardboard boxes of several orders going back to the skyscrapers. It smelled so good. The line was way too long and we really didn’t want to obstruct people going back to work so we had to skip the curry place. But ever since then thankfully more and more Japanese curry shops have been popping up all around. But they’re nowhere near the beauty of Young’s Curry and omg that amazing shiny egg WOW! Anyway thank you for these amazing tour videos of Tokyo. And thank you for keeping “Godzilla bites” alive 😬
