*TLDR: Why Sonny doesn’t appear in these videos* Quite a few ppl asking this or complaining about him not making an appearance. Have some common sense ppl…. And plz add a sense of decency while you’re at it! *And Think About This* He already travels like 10 months out of the year making content for his other two channels. Then spends the rest of the year putting the videos together with his team. But he has a lot of fans who wanted to see more of India. Remember, we are all able to watch this for free. No subscriptions, no streaming fees, no cable bills…. And there are ppl in this comment section acting so entitled it makes me sick. The poor guy works his ass off to bring us excellent content. He travels more than he gets to rest. He’s ended up with food poisoning more than once, being harassed by the police in Egypt and a lot of other uncomfortable situations. And all for our entertainment. We know he loves his job, but that doesn’t mean he has to work himself to death because you all want him to somehow stay in India full time for these videos all while still traveling everywhere else to make the vids for his other two channels. This is still made by his company, by his team and he still has eaten these foods, but couldn’t share them all at the time. So he does everything else he does for his other channels, except appear in the videos. Allow the man to expand his horizons and try new ventures without pushing your expectations on him. And If you Don’t like this type of video, or don’t want to watch anything that he isn’t actually shown in…then don’t watch this channel. It’s as simple as that. I personally love the fact that on top of everything else he’s doing he still takes the time to come up with this concept so he can make his fans happy & still produce quality content. He even decided to do the voice overs for this channel…. With an already harsh schedule. If you’d watched the very first video on Best Food India you would see that he didn’t do the voice work and ppl were disappointed. So, to make the fans happy he decided to still contribute even more and added voicing these videos to his already hectic schedule. So…. From me to Sonny… thanks for all you do to bring the fans quality content, excellent entertainment, joy in learning about new foods & culture and for working so hard to give us what we want. ✌🏻🥰😊

My wife’s family is from Tamil Nadu, and we went to India last year. Didn’t get much time in Chennai, only a few hours with cousin. The rest of the state and into Kerala were amazing places to visit. The scenery and food were amazing. Being a white guy in rural southern India I got a lot of stares, points, and even a literal double take from a guy on the back of a motorcycle. The food was amazing. Three to four of us could eat a huge meal at a restaurant for about $6 usd. I can’t wait to go back.
All of stare will go away if you spoke in tamil. Tamilnadu is only one place in whole world that is you speak tamil , you become tamil. No other place in whole damn world.
I love the people selling food on streets. The owners are not focused on huge profits, they rather want to have a small profit but to help the community. You won’t see that in the most developed countries. Greetings from România!🇷🇴🇪🇺
I have seen lots of videos of you. But in the whole video I couldn't see your face. During your Africa trip videos, you personally went and met a lot of ppl, but in this whole video, you weren't seen. And the person who tasted the food doesn't seem like you. It would have beer if you could taste the food directly and help them with some money or some gratitude in return. Being an Indian and tamizhan, I felt bad looking at this video
Because he's in the comfort of his home doing voice-over 😢 But he doesn't quite realise, it's better when he's on the screen. Whatever he's making on these videos, he can double if he used he's brain and no so much relying on booze lol 😅 And let's not forget, if the content becomes boring, most subscribers will exit and just watch your original show. I have to say, the quality of presentation in this channel is improving day by day. Be it the interludes of Sunny reacting to things or eye catching transition graphics, they make it seem that Sonny is actually at the location to review the food items.
For any foreigners thats watching this video i recommend getting these dishes in a more sit down upscale place. Like others have said outside of the podi idly, the other places are way too unhygenic for non-locals. Chances of getting sick is almost definite, not certain but i wouldnt risk it if youre just visiting. this is coming from a dude in LA thats been going to chennai bi-annualy 1-2 months at a time for 10 years for businesss trips.

But there are small restaurants which are at reasonable price we can see only in chennai. we can finish breakfast with INR 40 - 90, Lunch- Veg -INR 80 - 120 Non Veg- 200-250 and dinner Veg- 120 and Non Veg 120. coffee- Rs.15 Tea -Rs.10. Vada, Samosa etc. Rs.10 per piece Yet it will be around $5-INR 415
If you go to North India, you won't find good food that makes you wander to breakfast in the morning, but in Tamil Nadu, you can get good Idly with chutny and good coffee even at 6am in the morning🤷👌

I don't disagree; I've had the same complaint, but maybe the reason is India is a big country and this channel is solely devoted to India. Were Sonny to be in person in these India vids, he wouldn't have time for the rest of the world.
Especially if the cover shows a pic of Sonny in the video. Also he does not want someone else in the video as they could get more popular than him. All about the $$.
I’m going to have to ask my wife to make the ghee podi idli. She makes Sambar that tastes exactly like when we were in India, and I like idli a lot, more than she does. She prefers dosa, which is also awesome. But I think she will like this idli more than regular.
I visited Chennai a long time ago. People are nice and well behaved but the only thing i can eat is pongal. Everything's sweet and sour during my stay there. As a northeast girl, my taste bud is different.

Best pongal is not Sweet pongal. Its VEN PONGAL = white word came from vellai. Belarssia name is prime example. So what is special about ven Pongal Today is Pongal day. Jan 14. Tamil culture is farmer culture. They worship farmers. No other country or state does that in whole damn world. So basically people get up early in morning and cook Ven pongal in street. Its like celebration... I dont know the smoke at 5:00am or something... ven pongal is heavenly. I dont like anything sweet. so dont care about sweet pongal. Once you add sugar everything taste same. research more about Pongal festival.

Why did you put Hindi subtitles. Hindi is not a language for entire India. If you explore south India especially Tamil nadu and Kerala you should come out of north Indian mindset and enjoy as the real explorer. In that way you would know that India and tamilnadu,Kerala are totally different each other. And finally you should get a good guide who know Chennai better
If u want to taste the authentic South Indian foods, Madurai is one of the places to visit. There you can eat different flavours of foods that are way different to Chennai because in India flavour differs for every 350 to 500 km😅. In my opinion Madurai is food capital of Tamil Nadu❤
The chicken roll isn’t really a Tamil dish The best one out of these is either the atlapam for a breakfast or the keema dosa which is perfect after a late night drinking / clubbing. It’s even better with mutton keema inside

The thing is, to find the cheapest food, you need to go to the dumpiest neighbourhoods, there are nicer parts of the city, but they are also more expensive to rent.

I just wanted to break the misconception of saying all of chennai/India is unhygienic, cuz it's really not. Can we do better? Absolutely. But then, Chennai especially is a great place to explore different types of food. I guess if you come with an open mind, you will experience a flavour explosion and have a great time. Chennai is all about duality, you can literally have a hearty meal for 100rs or a dollar and also have a good meal for thousands of rupees. Butttt Street food always hits different.

Well, this video was about cheapest food and if you want hygienic food there are plenty of restaurants in Chennai which is also pretty cheap compared to your currency :)
I’d like to try the *Atlappam* 😊 It looks tasty and isn’t spicy hot. 🥵 🌶️ The Ghee Podi Idli also looks really good, but there’s no way I could eat them. I do not handle spicy well at all. 😔 I will say though, if I could get them with like 1/4th of the spice & add melty cheese on top - good lord, I’d eat about 100 of those little pancakes!!!! 😅 Another excellent video, thanks for sharing all of this delicious looking food with us. ✌🏻🥰😊

You can actually do healthy food for 2 dollars, you can get idly sambar for 30 cents, 4 boiled eggs for 50 cents, rice sambar lil veggies and a papad for 50 cents, tea for 15 cents, a banana for 10 cents, a slice of water melon for 15 cents, rest 30 cents have a dessert you wish or save it and have a biryani once in a week for 1 dollar, so you get your protein,carbs and fiber in decent quantity.
It's cheap for a foreigner but for india 5 dollar is equal to 409 rupees and it's not cheap for any state in india so try 50 or 10 rupees days where i live west Bengal howrah here u find boiled Rice , lentils soup ,a vegetable dish for just 30 rupees it's 24 cents
