I worked at a campus Greek joint on Cbus, OH. We had those styrofoam to-go cups I would keep my ice water (or Monster) in for the shift. Depending on what mood I was in was how the Master Shake I drew on the cup expressed.
Thanks for posting this. My husband and I enjoy watching you videos each week on our Big Screen at home. There are so many imitations to Papaya king. But this is the True Original. Don't settle for anything less. Totally agree, nothing beats the Original Papaya King. Not even Nathan's $8 hotdogs in Coney Island. Despite the snappiness to Nathan's dogs.

Glad you got to experience it, and enjoyed! I lived on E83rd, so I've been many times. Walking Carl Schurz Park is incredible itself, I love it over there. I've caught many a beautiful sunrises there.

I did the same recently, I went a few weeks ago after reading that they are probably going to close down. I'm not the biggest fan of hot dogs but I had to try this. I think their unique toppings make the dogs stand out as their own. Definitely better than the Papaya spinoffs. I had Gray's Papaya last year and did not like the dogs there, and didn't like the Papaya drink either. The Papaya drink at Papaya King however, was surprisingly good and not too sweet. I went at 11pm at night and most of the people that walked in only ordered the drinks.
Yeah, I know what you mean. I like hot dogs, but I rarely have them. It's just when there are alternatives like pizza and burgers, I'll go for one of those nearly every time. The possible closure is what really drove me to this restaurant and while I liked the hot dogs, I was most surprised by the drinks. Just like you said, they're not too sweet. For me it was just right!
I've had the hot dogs at Papaya King and they are very good. Also at another Papaya-named takeout at 23rd and 7th Ave, which may be a branch. However, I'm partial to Gray's Papaya at 72nd & Broadway (which is, by the way, the center of the civilized universe), which I've been eating, every few months, for the past 40 years. They're kind of like Sabrett hot dog cart dogs, except grilled, and you can ask for them well-done, and the tomato-onion sauce is exactly the same.
Indeed, Gray's Papaya is a special place! Plus it's refreshing to have a restaurant like that when everything seems so expensive these days. I think it's a Chelsea Papaya on 23rd St. I'll have to try it sometime.

Thank you! Yeah, I love a classic Chicago style hot dog, but I also really like the fact that one can pair Papaya King dogs with fruit drinks. It's a great combo!
If you are ever in that neck of the woods again, La Voglia is open now at 92nd and 3rd and is pretty decent Italian. They have nice outdoor seating too.@@Jamesnu

@@Jamesnu Apparently their new landlord was giving them a hard time but now they are finally open. The new place looks different though. I wish they found another location where they could replicate the decor of the old place.
Indeed! I just hope the restaurant ends up in a new location at least. While I think it's inevitable that the current building will be demolished, I'm optimistic that a new location will open!
Hot dogs are indeed a popular item in NYC, but even more so in NJ, where they are commonly deep-fried (almost unknown in NY) and a major attraction all over the state.
@@richardgelber2740 They are popular in NJ but I hardly see them in NYC these days. Papaya King used to have 3 locations and this one is the last one. Grays Papaya had a bunch of them.
I'm not the biggest fan of hot dogs, but the combination of hot dogs and fruit drinks was something that I've never seen before and this restaurant sparked so many imitators, because of it. I enjoyed my lunch, but at the end of the day, it's not the type of place that excites me as much as a restaurant serving pizza, burgers, etc.
