I love the way you keep it real and beat up reviewers that leave 2 piece reviews for one minor inconvenience. Those of us in customer service are applauding in droves 😀
I dont deal with eating fish from bad rated places, you're gambling terribly. People who don't respect fish are not people use want to be eating from especially raw fish.
I busted out laughing so hard when they played ya boi with ONE Oreo!🤣🤣But I think they were trying to tell Daym that the "fried Oreos" were not Oreos at all! How in the absolute hell you mess up fried Oreos? Welp, somehow they did!
I saw that soup and immediately thought, "Hell naw, they didn't just serve my man Daym some instant miso soup", then he stirred it and those little tofu cubes popped up and confirmed it! That sushi was looking like some you'd pick up from the refrigerated area in a grocery store near the deli that come in the plastic clamshell containers (you know the kind), that satay and the tempera items (shrimp and calamari) looked like pre-made, bought in, just drop it in the fryer or pop it in the oven (for the satay) type stuff. Also never heard of a restaurant doing fried Oreos without serving 3-4 of them with ice cream and maybe chocolate syrup. Hope you didn't pay a lot for that meal Daym, wouldn't surprise me if you just got a taste of Restaurant Depot's Japanese offerings!
You guys have no clue what you're talking about. It's 100x more expensive for them to use "pre-packaged" miso soup. It literally only takes the time to boil water to make miso soup from scratch.
@@toolbaggers Nah, you can buy instant miso soup in bulk for less than miso paste and tofu in bulk, you're boiling water either way, it takes less time to prepare a serving of instant, and you have less at the end of the night to throw away if you use instant. It also has the tell-tale signs of instant miso soup (the mini tofu squares).
You broke that shit down. And yeah that sushi does look like the kind that be at the stores in the little blue container by the deli area. Nothing looks made in the restaurant

The salmon was shooting dice with its boys😂. The analogies are hilarious. We have one of those sushi spots in West Haven. I understand not wasting the food, but at the same time if I don’t like something and want to order something else, I should be able to do so without being charged extra.
Spicy crab is usually imitation crab. Unfortunately stabbing sushi is considered to be disrespectful. It is acceptable to use your fingers to pick up certain sushi
If you were to get a second order of sushi that’s when you would notice the super long wait times. I have been to this establishment a lot of times and always enjoy the food but the super long wait times in between plates is very aggravating. This place does it strategically so you start to feel full and don’t order more. They also leave things off of the order as well on purpose.
I just mentioned their shorting items on my comment as well. They do it every time. The wait is brutal even on your initial order if you select more then a few pieces.
Almost every sushi restaurant uses imitation crab, even the good ones. I happen to be a fan, so I'm fine with that. If you're lucky enough for them to use real crab, there's almost zero chance it was cooked fresh and cracked, it would still come out of a can or jar.
Jesus Christ not only did you use the chopsticks as a stabbing utensil, but you even used the thicker back end of it lmaooo that was hilarious, can’t take folks like us nowhere haha
You are a brave person. That is one food "group" I would never want to figure out if it's the worst in my city😳. Yes I meant food "group". I think sushi should have its own food group because I love it so much 😍
I found the fact that the miso soup was delicious to be kind of funny because it's actually the simplest and easiest to make. You can actually make it and have it be RESTAURANT good right at home. Google your local Asian market, and you only need 2 things: light miso paste, and dashi powder. Make a broth from some dashi powder and water. Then dissolve in like a tablespoon of miso. That's your soup. Add tofu cubes and seaweed if you like but it's not critical. You can put whatever you want in it, but it's cheap and easy so if you like it, you can make it!
it was a surprise to learn this place had such bad reviews. my friends and i go here for unlimited sushi every once in a while and it's always pretty good for the price. the only issue is that they're ALWAYS packed, which makes service a bit slow. We usually stick to ordering a bunch of rolls and kitchen apps for the table. We don't often get the regular sushi w/ just fish over rice at this place. I've only gotten dessert there a couple times. The green tea ice cream is good, but the fried oreos are a little different than you'd expect.
I haven’t watched the whole video yet. Being a chef who used to make fresh sushi. If you come to my restaurant and we are busy you will be told you have almost a 45 minute wait to get sushi. One person can only do 1 roll at a time. Keep that in mind when ever getting a fresh sushi roll
I can't and won't front. I tip my hat and toast my glass to you, Daym. 🥂 I can't rock with Sushi at all. I don't like it, and it doesn't like me; beat my stomach and taste buds up something fierce. I tried it twice at two different locations. Nope! 🥵 Even so, this vlog isn't about me, but all about you, doing what you do best. Thanks for another awesome vlog. 👍🏾👏🏾👌🏾 At 18.41 the ladies behind the counter were eyeing you heavily. They were probably wondering what you were doing with that camera. 🤣
Happy to see this man still doing good after all he's been through, I ain't watched his videos in a long while but I'm glad Daym drops still going strong,,,,,
The next time I go to a restaurant that gives me chopsticks, I'm gonna use them like Daym! 🤣 Is there any way you could do Thai food, Daym? I'd love to see that if you have places like that anywhere near you.
I never get any spicey rolls because either the quality of the fish in the roll isnt the best or like you said its canned. The spice hides the lack of fish quality.
After watching for a while, seeing both ways, I think I like it better when you read the reviews at the end of the video. It prevents any bias before your visit.
I'd love to see you go on a trip to NJ to try Pizza and Bagels from the other side of NYC. And if you do go to NJ you have to get Disco Fries from a diner.
I saw Sushi, I gotta watch this. This goes back to 2011. It’s the Black Nori Sushi Roll. Because somebody traded out the Messiah backed Black Nori Sushi Roll and was traded out for the Shrimp Alfredo at the Journey. My feelings are hurt! It was the Meat Ravioli. The Teriyaki was in the drumsticks and Rib Round. I should know. This goes way back. It’s not my style of Asian food, though.
Great video but you forgot to mention the miso soup in your yelp review which is cool but if you thought it was divine like you said at the restaurant then that definitely should of been mentioned in the review 😉
Im not about food waste at all but how can you charge extra after the fact for someone not being able to finish their meal??? The price is the price, that seems ethically questionable
Get some Lebanese food Daym! There's got to be some Lebanese restaurants in CT? Good luck finding the worst one though, every one I've ever been in has slapped. 🇱🇧
I've had so much bad miso soup that I almost expect a bad experience, that one looked better than most I've seen. Chop sticks are not so hard to use with a bit of practice, also training sticks exist. It took me a while to learn too. The sushi looks a bit off too, hope it doesn't disagree with you lol, the tempura doesn't look bad though. The fried oreo looked like it was crying for help, a sad lil dessert 🍨
Once upon a time, in a small village, there was a boy named Timmy. Timmy was just like any other boy except for one thing - his face was a butt. Yes, you heard it right, a butt. It was not a pretty sight, and Timmy was often teased and ridiculed by his classmates. Timmy's parents took him to see many doctors and specialists, but nobody knew how to cure him. They tried everything from creams to surgeries, but nothing worked. Timmy's parents were heartbroken, and they didn't know what to do. One day, a wise old man came to the village. He was a healer and had cured many people of their ailments. Timmy's parents took him to see the old man, and he examined Timmy's face. The old man looked at Timmy with a kind smile and said, "Do not worry, my child. I can cure you." The old man asked Timmy to follow him into the forest. Timmy was hesitant at first, but he trusted the old man. They walked for a long time until they reached a clearing. In the center of the clearing was a beautiful flower. The old man plucked the flower and gave it to Timmy. "Take this flower home with you and drink its nectar every day. Your face will be cured," said the old man. Timmy's parents were skeptical but decided to give it a try. Timmy drank the nectar every day, and within a week, his face started to change. His butt face became softer, and soon it started to transform into a normal face. Timmy was overjoyed, and his parents were amazed. They thanked the old man and promised to spread the word about his healing powers. From that day onward, Timmy was no longer teased or ridiculed. He was just like any other boy, and he lived a happy life. Timmy never forgot the old man who had cured him, and he continued to spread the word about his healing powers so that others could benefit from his wisdom. And so, Timmy's life was forever changed, thanks to the wise old man and the magical flower.
Good Brother, you gonna catch a splinter eating with the chop stick like that! Lol... Thanks checking out this sushi spot...I'll definitely not check this place out
Maaan, if you ever come out near Chicago for some reason.. HIT ME UP. i got a place in the burbs that would blow this out of the water! great atmosphere, even better food.
Also, the shrimp tempura is most likely bought pre-battered and frozen from a vendor or somewhere like restaurant depot, so its unlikely they had anything to do with the batter but the sauce is entirely on them.
I haven't been here since 2019, so it could have changed, but I love this place and have brought many friends and dates here, nobody hasn't liked it yet lol. They do skip some items if you fill out a large order, but I think that's to try to avoid waste and save some money, doesn't bother me much.
