Dosa has transcended from being south Indian to Indian cuisine, as I belong to Northern part of India and haven't found a single person who doesn't love Dosa. Masala Dosa is ❤
i think Mr. tirth kumar himself made dosa in a way can be ate like egg roll because it is necessery for him to adapt to american style for growing his buisness
Actually it's not a soup... You should dip that dosa into the sambar and have it... It will be great... Seeing a South Indian food in NYC is amazing.. Keep up man... Love from India
Wonderful how the colors in the food harmonized with the backdrop of the verdant leaves, blue skies, and red brick buildings. I had a tough week last week and had to travel for a memorial service...so happy to find you posted a new video that gave me joy and some much-needed perspective. Thank you for the goodness you give.
That guy is a legend...loved the scale of the plate, what an immense portion. I don't think I'd ever enjoy a vegetarian meal as much as this, based on looks alone. I never had it. I think I should.
Oh yeah! It's definitely worth the wait! The food is fresh, nice and tasty and is a sizeable portion! Plus, it's probably healthier than a lot of the stuff I normally eat too.
The best part is that the ingredients are 100% healthy unlike the pasta or pizza dough or hamburger buns. The "sambhar" that you call lentil soup is what we also add to boiled rice as a part of our regular meals. The other thing is that you get all the necessary amino acids without consuming any form of meat.
India has so much to offer to the World. No wonder almost every other RU-vidr come across India related content a day or another. Also, the Dosa look so so fresh almost like a salad.
@@trevorward9680 I am planning to with my husband who's French. He loves Indian food and had never tried it before meeting me😅 As India is far away from France, England is my next bet with authentic Indian food. Also need to try the fish and chips and scones😄
I just had it yesterday : ) I loved dipping the green sauce with the dosas. Agree, next time I will go spicy as well, medium was not to much kick. Can't wait to go back and try the pancake one. It was incredible and so unique.
Dosa Man is proud of the fact that because of this dosa, his daughter got a good education in America and graduated, what could be better than this for every father, thank you for sharing this video with us.🙏🙏love from India.
@@rayc7671 wow, someone don't even know whatis dosa but commenting about it. search google, what dosa is made of? an its benefits? WHO statement about dosa? then you comment it is carb or bad etc.
@@ankushverma8625 carbs are carbs simple complex . Also the video is about dosa so why mix up .. rice sugar milk is all fattening .. coconut too .. also the batter is fermented which bloats the grains of rice by default it’s not good for the body - what’s healthy?
Man, you are still replying after 2 years since u posted this vid. What a dedication. Amazed by how u ate it 😅, Hope you are still enjoying that awesome Dosa 😊. ❤ from 🇮🇳
Just a tip, You should not eat a masala Dosa like a Shawarma. Take a bit of Dosa with it's potato masala, Dip it in chutney and Sambaar and then have it! Yumm! :D
I'm from the North side of India and even I have to say that is the first time I'm seeing someone eat dosa like that 😂 Understandable but still quite eye-catching 😅 Hope you visit India sometimes and go to the south part of India and eat dosa there Indian style.
I live in a Pakistani neighborhood and even pakistanis now enjoy our Dosas, Idlis etc Poor guys their breakfast is just puri with halwa South Indian breakfast foods are the best in the world!
It's not an appetizer it's called sambar and it's also a dip just like coconut Chutney. I'm happy to see that u enjoyed having Indian food. I suggest you to try some more Indian food u may love them too...
every indian notice the first thing you mentioned above, thanks for info and @jamesnu will try next time and he may enjoy the right way to eat indian food :)
In India, Noodles, Sandwiches, French Fries, Pizza And Burger are called cheats, and junk food. All the time No non-vegetarian, only pure vegetarian food - Dosa, Idli, Medu Wada, Gujarati Phoolka Roti or as it is called in Gujarati "Rotli", Dal, Vegetables, Rice is the real meal. @@Jamesnu
That is staple diet. Not street food, no. That is a regular meal. We eat Dosa everyday. Anna is having his cart on the street. Oops Sorry - It does not mean that is street food.
You showed us the American style of eating a dosa 😅. Happy to see that you enjoyed it 👍👍. I see you have already got a lot of suggestions on "how to eat a dosa" in the comment section. So i avoided saying the same thing. I can guarantee that next time you will be having the dosa in the most proper form 😎👍
I love to see this that you are loving Indian food ...you would be amazaed after how many things are here to explore in test or etc .I hope oneday you come here and explore our vibrant culture of love
Hats off to him, for serving such a huge crowd. And making dosas by standing for the whole time is a real task.. Which shows his dedication.. Serving good food is simply serving supreme ..🫶🏻🫰🏻
its supposed to be eated with breaking the bread just like naan and the ndipped in chatnies and then sambar with an additional spoon(modern reproduced culture mix he he) with an addition of pav to samosa is a great tinge and twist to it 4:39 both are taken simultaniously if the sambas is present with dosa and the chatni hehe if left.......then drunk entirely
Hello! Nice to see you enjoying dosas. Just a tip, Dosa isn’t eaten like a burrito, you have to tear a piece off with one hand and dunk it into the chutney or Sambar or both. So you eat it in bite sized pieces. The Sambar is like a dip and a bit strong on its own. In India we eat with our hands & wash our hands clean before and after meals. You can definitely improvise however you like though. Also just FYI, Dosa is pronounced with a soft d.. like Tho-sa
Well, now we can tell why The Dosa Man is so famous, man. How can we not be enticed when it's the best dosa you've ever eaten? That really looks a great plate for the price, too. We'd stand in line for as long as it takes and order ours medium too -- just in case you were curious! You just look so happy eating it -- makes us smile just watching. Thanks for taking us on this fantastic food journey -- it's gonna be fun living vicariously through you! NYC is basically the food capital of the entire universe, after all.
That calls you to bring yourself to Matunga East in Mumbai where you get to eat the best dosas at King's Circle in many South Indian restaurants. And that calls you to go to Kanyakumari. And Madurai! Of Course! I guess!@@Jamesnu
lol. all is right but NYC is a food capital??? Come to Bharat( former name- India) Here any small city will surpass any city you think is a food capital in taste, variety, quality and quantity wise i bet
How to Eat South Indian Dosa:- you should not Bite it instead you should take a Piece of Dosa and Dip it to the Sambar and Coconut Chutney then Put the Dosa to your Mouth..it's the Combination of Dosa Chutney and Sambar...👍😁😄
Seeing him eat the dosa made me want to eat one too😅. Fun fact dosa is made from fermented rice-lentil bater and so is good for the gut too. Its the only fast food that is healthy that I know of
My favorite is Pesarattu or Pesara dosa - that is from Andhra in South India - it is the best Dosa. Sadly it is not as popular than the others that most establishments have
I visted New York this summer for few days only to visit family and do sightseeing. On my last day I made the biggest mistake of going to get a dosa from this man. At first I was told that I was the last person. Then they kept letting more people in. I wasted 5 hours, I repeat 5 hours! to get 1 low quality dosa! 5 hours for 1 dry dosa! He catered more and spent time talking to the last group of 10 people than to me who really was to be the last person. I found him to be unpleasant and the dosa was terrible - no sambar or chutney or tea. All gone. What makes me mad is my own stupidity that the 5 hours I wasted standing in line in the sun for the terrible food - I couldn't spend doing something fun! Also if you are from a city like Toronto like I am - do yourself a favour and buy dosas from the 100 restaurants that sell them than wasting your time here. You'll thank me for this tip. Every time I think about this experience, it actually upsets me. Don't go here!
You made me want to go out and eat dosa😂 m from India and i love South Indian food . South Indian food is all vegan and is suitable for all people who eat gluten or not .
There is a beautiful business concept that we notice besides the wonderful dosas. The part where you mention how the DosaMan continues his enterprise in person, is what the owner's personal touch does to business. Today's business gurus would cringe at calling this even a business as he does all the work instead of having employees serving customers. They would call it self employment at best. However, the most important thing is that many guys like DosaMan are more in love with their job and the recognition it brings than the profit or wealth.
Hi James. It seems that spring suits you very well. Thanks to your videos, we have the opportunity to get to know other culinary cultures. Great job, you are a refined promoter of nyc, its people and its customs.
I like your technique man ! But also do try the indian way (wipe/wash your hands and then Go full CAVEMAN on that dosa - dip it in the sambar and take a bite, dip the next bite in the coconut chutney and try to scoop some of that chutney on to the dosa itself). The see-saw switching back and forth between sambar and chutney is a TRIP ! Then try the combo of sambar and coconut chutney mixed together - that’s another heavenly new flavor to your tastebuds. Tastes far more delicious if you eat that way :) next time I hope you’ll remember my comment and try this.
Sambar is a traditional condiment for dosa ( also can be eaten with rice ). Theres no wrong way to eat a dosa. But, to enjoy it like south Indians do, make pieces of it and dip it in various condiments
M from south India. This is mostly our daily breakfast.. nice to see these foods being enjoyed by people around the world!! And yes.. dosas are perfectly healthy and you have em every single day!

I like how you are replying to every single comment, love from India and Yeah don't feel bad for eating dosa the wrong way.I can understand you as it was your first time trying it.Also do try other Indian dishes😉
