I'm a truck driver, I eat healthy drink water , no pops or soda , I don't eat fast food , I buy cans of tuna, chicken and all type of beans , I do pushups a lot when I'm on the road, You can hit most of Your upper body muscles with different type of pushups, do crunches and I even got a 6 packs and when I'm home its lef day , Good luck
@@whysosyria1 on my 10 hours rest ,I run for 30 minutes or so ,if the truck stop is big enough thats even better ,once or twice a week is enough for me and if I get home that's plus
Im a TMC driver and I often do workouts on and around the trailer. Even when I'm out walking/jogging at a rest area getting at least 4 miles when I can. We need more vids like this to motivate our drivers to think outside the truck stops in more ways to eat healthier and stay more active while on the road.
I'm a female driver and been thinking of making videos for different lifestyle eating for truckers- vegetarian, vegan, clean, etc... its good to know truckers are looking for this info!
TMC better give you a raise. Any company would be happy to find a hard working dedicated driver that's in shape and has a very professional attitude with great communication and well spoken.
Thank you all taking the time to watch ny video ! I truly have a passion for working out and maintaining a healthy lifestyle! I hope this motivates some of u and others get helpful tips and pointers! I m an over the road truck driver doing my best ! #foreversolid #blessed #stayfocused
Bryan Celestine. Would you give me some sort of contact info please. I would like to talk with you, about getting my setup together, particular workout bodybuilding type questions
Brother you sound like a qualified Marine. I'm glad I watched this video because you answered just about all of my doubts and worries about being on the road. I am a retired military veteran just in the beginning stages of trucking. Like I said I was very skeptical about doing this fearing I could fall into the trap of living an unhealthy lifestyle. This video definitely is a reassurance that truckers could live a healthy life with discipline and determination. Thanks for sharing!
I wake up at 0430 where ever I'm at, truck stop, rest area, place of delivery and I set my mat and dumbbells on the ground and I do an hour of HIIT (high intensity interval training) followed by 500 push ups, 3 sets of 33 reps. That ads up to 495 so at the end I do 5 single push ups to equal 500. Thats how I start every day Monday through Friday while over the road. Since I'm home every weekend I have a home gym and I still wake up at 0430 but on top of doing my morning HIIT. I also do strength training through out the day and get some running or cycling. I train 7 days a week. Sunday I train but is more of an active recovery type of training. I also pack my meal prep for the week. I eat super lean and clean. No fast food, no soda or juice. Lean meats good fats, some carbs and alot of water. It ain't hard to stay in shape over the road. You just have to be discipline. I've trained in the rain, snow and scorching heat. My regiment is solid.
This is amazing !! Love your story brother Changing my career from corrections to trucking. I like how you train first thing because when you finish your shift - no matter how tired you are, you trained in the Morning Praying to follow your footsteps 🙏🏽
3 sets of 33 reps is 99. H9wbdo you get to 495 from that? Using that new Common Core math? Love the passion though! As an OTR driver myself that's training for 5 Ironman's this year...the benefits of HIIT are priceless!
Keep in mind y’all that everyone has different genetics, also keep in mind gender and age. I’ve been living that truck driver life for 15yrs... when we (my team driver) started I was 20 he was 21 and I was able to eat subway everyday and very stay lean (mind you I was probably a “skinny fat” thin on the outside, very unhealthy on the inside) but now I really have to restrict myself on eating ANY kind of rice, bread, potatoes, corn, etc, being a female in my 30’s it’s not as easy as a males lifestyle. You also might want to eliminate most sugary drinks on a day to day basis. If I am craving a little fizz I drink a flavored sparkling water with 0sugar added. Every now and then I do enjoy a Body Armor drink, but try not to make it a every day thing. I’m really glad to see more of my fellow drivers choosing a more healthier lifestyle out here on the road but we are definitely a stereotype. I wish they would take out the game rooms in the truck stops and add in a free weight room for drivers. We are a big part if not the biggest part that keeps the world moving so good health should be the number one priority and the truck stops need to take into consideration what kind of food places and amenities they have for their main source of money flow, THE TRUCK DRIVERS!
in the late 90's and early 2000s, some truck stops started putting in exercise equipment, nobody used them, or they misused them and got tore up. Free weights went missing, etc. I'm 62 still driving, just had my DOT and passed no problems, I exercise everyday, keying down on cardio, and not losing muscle mass. It's a lot harder at 62 than it was a 40 lol
@@garyharrison8891A weighted ruck vest would be a good investment. You can put what weight you want in the vest whether it’s 45 or 60 etc. You just have to know how to fit them correctly for them to work properly. I use mine daily with my dog, 3 mile walk everyday and I burn as many calories I would as if I were running.
Truck driving companies should give out free gym memberships to their employees. It would definitely cut down on job / diet related illnesses. Oh and why not have a nutrition program for drivers who are obese and have food related diseases or as a preventative measure for drivers who are healthy?
i used to be a trucker and this dude is partially right, eating good foods in caloric deficit can get you leaner for a while but after you will stuck whatever you eat, so eating 4 times a day might not be the best way to go, I would say 1 is the best that worked for me, thats called intermittent fasting if anybody get plateau-ed then thats the best scenario
Thank you for sharing Bryan. LOVE THIS!!! Hubby is a trucker and I make 95% of his food to take on road. The loss of exercise is my main concern. But you show that it CAN be done. I hope you do more videos as you come through crisp...clean...and clear! Thank you.
I have an objection, to the packaged chicken. It is very high in sodium. I have found that many of the packaged items, the sodium content is ridiculous, I have personally invested in a food saver and cook at home. I also enjoy tuna, however being sodium conscious, I have to buy from Amazon unless I pay $4/ pouch for No Salt Added Wild Planet tuna at walmart.
@@ognjenvaricak9455 Excessive carbs will make you sleepy. Carbs in proper amounts will keep you very much awake. Keto and carnivore diets are unsustainable in the long term, unless you're willing to literally do nothing but that for the rest of your life. It doesn't actually do anything to develop meaningful habits beyond not being able to eat anywhere anymore.
@@ognjenvaricak9455 not true. Different diets work for different people. Don’t try to speak on a diet as if it’s fact when it’s just ur opinion or experience.
@@deesplash7087 you are right. I wrote this comment last year. But, looking from this point, we know very little about the right diet. Where I stand right now is that a balanced diet, that consists meat, fruit and veggies would be the way to go. I am still a bit skeptical about grains. But fructose would be a much better source of carbs. There are many factors that determine your dietary fit: geographical area that you were born in, genetics, etc.
You can do basically everything you need to do with some resistance bands and your trailer. I also keep an incline rowing machine(4ft long) on my top bunk I use.
I already starting eating healthier with the help of the weight watchers app, lost 60#'s in a little under a year. I just started working out and studying for my CDL permit. I eat tuna packets with a variety of tortilla shells 3 times a week to change things up. Hopefully get cut before I get out on the road. Thanks for the insight-thanks for sharing and keep on truckin. 😎
Lol me and this guy are like spirit twins....down to trucking/fitness habits, being body builders, getting planet fitness memberships due to the convenience.....etc.... Love the video. Great advice to the guys out here
Do you have good luck training on the road? I start trucking school in a week. I train most days at anytime fitness. Would like to keep training. Thanks!
That's true. Healthier food is more filling for way less calories. Some actual ways to raise your metabolism is to build more muscle and be more active.
I’m loving this I’m an obese guy who’s lost 45lbs through CrossFit but I’m about to go to driving school I’m glad to see truckers trying to be healthy... I’m researching I have a jump rope and kettle bells and resistance bands and foldable step
I'm actually going from teaching middle school science to trucking myself. Talk about extreme changes in your career path huh? I work out myself and was worried about finding the time to work out, along with worries of gaining weight on the road. This was excellent. I plan on going to JTL trucking school in Omaha in July of this year (2018). Been seeing some great reviews on this company. TMC seems like a great company, and letting their drivers make these videos is pretty cool. I may be looking into coming TMCs way this summer if they will have me. However, you never can tell what the future holds. Great video man!
Great video, I did this years ago, and still do it today. I can't stand being overweight, and it's happened a couple times. At 62 I still maintain a daily work out routine, and cook my meals out on the road. Like Bryan I take protein supplements, and key down on lots of cardio. I also spend a lot of time stretching. The ham strings can really tighten up from sitting in one position most of the day, when you do it day after day, year after year. Spending time stretching your whole body, can relieve a a lot of the body stress from sitting so long
Not only should he take pride in his personal health achievements while being out on the road but also, his choice in doing this respect to everyone else out there. Truck drivers run many risks of being accident proneif not in good physical condition. In my opinion he not only deserves respect for himself, but everyone else he is also benefitting by his choices out there and sharing some things to try.Truck drivers are always needed and they are on the road most of the time, the choices he has made are goingvto help with falling asleep heart attacks, general alertness are always things that can affect a truck driver and cause or be in a fatal accident . Best wishes to this guy and thanks for the advice on things to try and do. Very imprssive!
Is a protein powder a good substitute for a meal. If I replace a meal for a protein powder could that be done everyday, or should it be done just a couple days a week
TMC should put refrigerators, microwaves and apu’s on all there trucks. Take care of your drivers, you’re making $$$ quit being cheap and maybe you TMC could keep some good drivers and your turnover wouldn’t be so high. You do buy good equipment and you’re putting chicken lights on the company trucks nobody does that anymore.
BBQ sauce = sugar Spoke those glycemic levels. Not a good thing. Read labels if you really want to stay healthy. No way around…. Sitting so much will eventually slow down your Circadian clock even more due to lack of activities. Thus higher probability of more fat build up even with a chicken wrap. Walk. Do squats. Move around. Or even these choices don’t help a diet. And then you have to do fast; carnivore diet etc. Facts. Get active. Your circadian clock starts move faster once you have “anything” other than water in the morning. That means your metabolism starts to work faster, your body knows your up. It’s about a 11-12 hour window. In this time frame get your meals in. Not after. Anything after is only messing with your metabolism. Look it up. Cut out sugar unless you need it. Even then choose Simple sugar not complex. But GET ACTIVE. Stay safe out there.
I’m also a truck driver my life is without any sugar and all that soda bullshit I’m about just water , fruits beans , salads and of course no microwave bro ... what is this shit be healthy with a microwave .. ok good luck ... I’m also do my exercises everyday
Great video Water, I have a lime squeezer and try to grab fresh water in my bottles, no sugar or chemicals still it livens up the flavor. Look into mini instant pot, 3qt, fresh cooked chicken is awesome, you can use it as a pressure cooker, slow cooker, or an open pot.
Would like to see some ziploc meal prep just take out of fridge, un zip and add to a portable gas griddle cooking outside truck for safety. Healthy freshly done meals. Just to ditch the microwave once in a while.....any truckers out there that used to warm up their food wrapped in aluminum thin foil and heated it on top of truck engine?
Cool brother but my company doesn't allow us inverters for a fridge or microwave. So how do you eat healthy without one? Right now its mostly subway or any other fast food spot. Or am I pretty much screwed ?
Great information but I cringed watching this because you know damn well that you don’t talk like that lol. Just try to be yourself bro. Your future videos will come out authentic.
I have a slim fast for breakfast rihht after walking 1 mile and then 1 for lunch as well as 3 100ish calorie snacks then i eat a 600 calorie dinner. I buy those family oncor meals from walmart for 250 and have 2 pieces plus canned veggies. Then prep 2 more dinners the next couple of days
All that processed food is super high in salt so you must be careful with that as well. Having the invertor is a nice touch to heat up home cooked meals
any truckers keep a mini propane grill? my truck doesnt have an inverter so im trying to find the best option for cooking warm food on my own. im sick of cold food or crappy truck stop meals.
There's a lot of sodium in frozen food. Blood pressure issues this a no no. If you have sugar issues rice is not good for you. The vitam water is bad artificial sweeteners and sugar. The only thing I seen healthy was the chicken and beans. Natural oatmeal is good with Moringa and cinnamon. Not the pre packaged oatmeal with artificial additives. Eggs are good with Tumeric and cayenne pepper. Collagen protein in almond or cashew milk. Im obese 61 with no Metobilisim (clinics tested). Exercise 3 to 4 times a week. Since 50% of the driving population is 55 or over. This is just another perspective for the older drivers. Things change after 40.
Any trouble grabbing a daily shower on the road? I'm a serious exerciser. Wanting to maintain my daily fitness effort. But also want to hit the rack washed up if possible. I'm new to trucking and looking for my first company and seriously considering pursuing work with TMC. I've heard on a few other videos that "for some reason" flatbedding is harder on finding a daily shower. Any truth to that?
Well not to mention the flatbed trailer throwing chains binders reps with tie downs vs pulling a box literally hang load locks and code the door go........
You need a blog or instagram or tik tok where you can show more examples of what you do. If you already don't have it i would love to watch them! New cdl driver here and i want to start before i get started on my own been doing push ups sit ups and planks everyday and watching more of what i eat.
