Eating Inside An Airplane In Colorado Springs At The Infamous Airplane Restaurant
Just a short distance from the entry point of Peterson Airforce Base you will find one of the most uniquely themed restaurants in all of Colorado Springs, the Airplane Restaurant. Inside the "hanger" you will find photos of Colorado Springs past, the airfields, the brave pilots, models of the many planes which have been used throughout the years and a section of a very large plane. But the experience does no stop there, just outside you will find the remaining section of that very plane and can actually dine inside of it! Today I am taking on The Airplane Restaurant and seeing if the food matches the theme!!

What’s the only thing cooler than eating on an airplane? Taking a beer flight while on your flight eating at the airplane.

We took a family trip to Colorado Springs one day and actually eat here. Really interesting area however we had to take up two tables because the tables are not designed for a large party. There were about eight of us there. So it made it a little bit longer of a wait because we all want to sit in the airplane. I would definitely suggest if you have a bigger party to arrive either early or come out it off time.

The photos inside were really neat.. I could have shared hundreds.. they have one entire section about women in flight which was really cool!!! But yes.. sitting in the plane was the best!!!

yep like a real one... I was excited about this one.. didn't know it would have the front building.. but it makes more sense because of the limited seating!! Very cool!!

I flew to Germany on that particular aircraft as part of the Texas Air National Guard. I gave them a picture of that aircraft refeuling two RF4 aircraft over the North Sea. You can't see me, but I am in that aircraft! Thanks for posting this!

That is so neat… I really enjoy seeing the historic side of the plane itself because it is such a unique thing. @@BunnyPlaysHere I made the comment before I watched the video and when I started watching around 30-35 sec there is a picture in a frame that looks like the photo I gave the owner. She told me that after I left the unit the KC-97 aircraft were retired and sold for salvage. Aircraft at the restaurant was bought by them and shipped to the restaurant in big pieces and put back together. The rest is recent history. It was a great aircraft, old, but was still useful for many years with the addition of two ramjet engines. We flew from Grand Prairie to Goose Bay in Canada and then to Frankfurt, Germany, on the return we flew to the Azores, then Bermuda and then to Grand Prairie, Texas. Each leg was about 9 hours. Sorry for all the info but I have fond memories of that time in my life. You are welcome for the comments.

The restaurant itself was amazing and I have heard so many horror stories about the actual plane they converted into making it happen… Not to mention the walls are lined with countless number of amazing military stories from the area! As for the burger if I were to return I would probably order the exact same thing because it was that good!!

LOL I have had some burgers that were burgers without it but this one having it actually added to it… Now I am kind of weird about guac so I was really happy that this was a very tasty one LOL

I found it by chance!! I always am looking for unique places to visit and I found this and was like I AM IN!!!! Super close to the base and well worth a stop!! So many details inside the main restaurant area and many of those memories come from the very service members which have served in the area!!

By the way my husband ate the same burger you did and really liked it also. But the onions were a little large. You should’ve seen the chunks of tomato also I know that you don’t like tomato so you will be happy that you cut them. 😂

OMG u said it exactly! Hot lettuce 😝. Thank you! I try to explain to friends that lettuce has no business on tacos and burgers or anything hot and they call me crazy! I’m glad I’m not the only one who understands the necessity of lettuce being cold.

lol.. usually by the time I have finished setting up my shots and talking about it I am far less hungry...lol.. but I do always eat my left overs so it works out!
