Wow! What great ideas! I love the simplicity and the vegetables. My husband just planted a row of radishes and I whined at him, " OMG! What am I going to do with all those radishes?!" Well, here is one great idea! Love it!
@@ArdentMichelle yes! Some people eat it room temperature if the bread is fresh. Olives, green onions are also served. Noonan paneer. A pile of fresh herbs on the side with each meal is highly desired.
About to watch. I found a store I can walk to with a reduce section of fruits and vegetables. But a lot of the stuff is great...just too much stuff..they need to sell, so they reduce it dramatically. My neighborhood is pretty solid middle class...so many walk by...but not me and others who do look over the neatly packages items for 99 cents. Baby multicolor potatoes, mushrooms, onions, yams, asparagus, apples, oranges, bananas, limes, lemons, all kinds of peppers.. The avocados are very soft....but I make guacamole. The bananas are very ripe, perfect in shakes with no sugar added since bananas are sweet. The other day green long beans. Perfectly fresh. I put on freezer because too much now. Lol. Since I walk 3 to 5 miles a day in 2 or 3 walks. I make sure one of my walk is that way...half mile away to peek in. I ramble but I think of you. I also go into regular price sections and just buy 3 Fava beans in pods,1 tomatilla, 3 tiny litchi...even if looks odd buying tiny amounts. Lol
Don't know if you're aware but you can freeze mashed avocado w/lemon juice to use later. I freeze it in small containers for avocado toast. You can also freeze mashed bananas with lemon juice to use later for banana bread or pancakes. 😊 It's great that you found a reduced section for fruits and veggies. I always say if my food didn't have orange reduced stickers I would probably starve. 😅
@@patpeters6331 I did not know you could freeze avocado. I will buy more often when reduced. I love guacamole. Thank you so much. Yes...look for those reductions.
Hi Emma 😁 I'm so glad you discovered that place. If I weren't such a food explorer, I wouldn't have found all the cheap spots for produce in my city. Love that you think of me when you buy these 🥰
Planning a December tea party for my grandchildren. I had them here and there for my kids during their upbringing. My MIL is from England so she taught me a lot. Now we have the internet…and RU-vid. 😊 Love your videos…your voice, you deference to others, your kindness…and your ideas.
Hi Robin 😁 Oh that sounds like so much fun. I bet the grandkids thought that was so special. 🫖 🌸 It's so nice that they will grow up with those memories. I'm so glad you are enjoying my content. Thanks for letting me know 🥰
The holiday "tea" was a favorite of mine with my nieces in their younger years. When they were small I bought them each a Christmas blanket, a tea service and a basket of holiday goodies including hot cocoa and tea. It was a tradition we kept for years, often including their friends.
As a kid and even now my favorite sandwich is a sweet onion and mayo. My 2nd is tomato and thyme with mayo. 3rd is cucumber, 4th is putting all for together. I enjoyed this video.
Hi Earlene 😁 Glad you enjoyed this video. I do want to try the sweet onion and mayo sandwich. I love sweet onions. I just never thought to try them on a sandwich before 😂 I'm going to try the tomato with thyme. Thanks for sharing this with us.
2 things....I live in Oklahoma. I planted 45 tomato plants in my yard this year. I don't like to eat tomatoes. I was going to try canning them. I started craving a tomato & mayo sandwich. I've never had one. I don't even know why it sounds good but thanks for showing one because now I can't wait for my tomatoes to ripen. I have to try one today. 2 if you soak a whole radish in a bit of salt water for a minute or so it takes the sting out. Thanks for such a great video
Thanks for sharing your radish tip 😁 If it were me and I had planted that many tomato plants, I would make a lot of canned roasted tomatoes, sun dried tomato pesto and marinara. I would also be eating tons of tomato sandwiches and caprese salads. I'm in awe of your 45 tomato plants. 🙌
I grew up in rural Los Angeles County, CA and my mother would go to a farm stand in the summer and we would eat open face tomato and mayo sandwiches on white bread. It was and still is my all-time favorite sandwich! I now live in the Midwest and have learned that using a warm (outdoor temp) tomato straight off the vine elevates it to "over the top". I have even converted my husband to asking for one after he tried one that way!
My dad ate onion and radish sandwiches as a boy in Missouri during the depression years..actually he’d eat them every now and then when I was teenager..I was appalled …but yours look delicious. I always like going to baby and bridal showers where tea sandwiches are served- so many choose to do taco bars or charcuterie type things now that I find too heavy and not to mention messy…a sign of my age🤣…I can’t wait for some good tomatoes to come around as I love a tomato sandwich.
Hi Marcia 😁 I love that there are an infinite amount of combinations that you can do with such simple ingredients. I wish I could have made a few more varieties but I ran out of time. I'm with you on the tomatoes....I could eat tomato sandwiches every day. 🍅
When I was a child, an onion and tomato sandwich were an afternoon snack in the summer time. My father grew lots of bulb onions and tomatoes because he loved onions and tomatoes in various dishes. I loved both sandwiches with mayonnaise as well as will mustard. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Katherine 😁 You're welcome. Glad you like this video. I want to try the onion with the tomato now. I think that would be delicious, but nothing better than veggies straight out of the garden. 🌱
When I was growing up we always had tea sandwiches and cake for a birthday party. My grandmother’s signature sandwich was a three colored three layer cheese spread sandwich in pink yellow and blue. She would make a bread pudding with the crusts later in the week.
Love your videos! A sandwich that my husband and I eat regularly is cheese and pickles. Homemade soft sandwich bread, sharp cheddar slices, and either homemade or store bought, bread and butter pickles, and mayo. With a few chips, this makes a tasty, easy lunch!!
I'm so glad you're enjoying my content. 😁 I love the idea of the bread and butter chips with cheddar. I'm wondering if we have any of those bread and butter chips. I wouldn't mind trying that sandwich. Sounds right up my alley! Thanks for sharing.
❤ bread and butter pickles are a southern favorite! I have a garden and will be getting cucumbers soon to make my own. They are sweet and savory at the same time. Again, I love your channel and am a new subscriber ❤
@@maggiedolly123 Yay! 🎉🥳 Thanks for subscribing and welcome to the fam! 😁 That is so awesome that you have a garden. 🌱 I would love having a garden and canning my produce.
A Tea Sandwich from NC which was popular in the 1960's was called 'The Charlotte' (A Classic Vegetable Sandwich). It consists of finely grated/minced/shredded carrot, cucumber, green bell pepper, and onion mixed with mayonnaise and some salt to taste. Spread on thin sliced white or whole wheat bread (crusts removed), top with remaining bread slice and cut into triangles. I make these sometimes for dinner along with soup ............ Can't wait to try yours next .........
My favorite tea sandwiches are: #1. Chopped celery with cream cheese and a bit of pepper and #2. Chopped black olives with cream cheese. I also love Scottish oat scones and biscotti with my tea. I really enjoy your videos. Have a great independence day!
Wow. 😁 I had never thought of celery with cream cheese, but I love those together! I'm definitely going to try this. Thanks for sharing this. Glad you are enjoying my videos. 🥰 Thanks for letting me know.
What a lovely idea! And how perfect for the hot weather. I like the revival of an old tea time tradition that I’ve seen in my collection of old cookbooks but never thought to make.
Tomato sandwiches have been around for generations in the South. We love them with lots of pepper. My dad ate onion sandwiches all the time. They are delicious, but unless you slice them thin, your tummy will give you fits later.
I've seen TONS of budget meal channels since the pandemic started, and I can truly and unequivocally say that yours is the best, most diverse, and exciting channels out there.
Hey Michelle, great video! Who would guess serving sandwiches like these with tea for lunch would be frugal. We love sandwiches in Australia. You forgot the Vegemite sandwich!!!!😁 My mum was a very busy working mum. For lunch She would give me and my friends buttered slices of white bread, a radish a tomato and a cucumber each. Intructions were to take individual bites to mix the flavours. My friends first thought it was funny but soon discovered it tasted good and filled us up for playing and bike riding.
Hi Barbara 😁 I love hearing these stories. Yes, the Vegemite! We don't have that in our regular stores, but I could get some at World Market (a specialty store) I still haven't tried it. I loved hearing this story about your childhood. 🥰
I make a cucumber sandwich spread that we always make and take to the beach every year. We make a bunch on smooshy white bread (one of the rare times I want it), wrap them individually in cellophane, put them in a ziplock bag and throw them in the cooler. They’re the best post wave riding snack. So refreshing!
Here’s the recipe for anyone interested: 1 English cucumber, finely grated, salted and well drained 1 carrot, finely grated (save the juice) 2 8oz blocks cream cheese, softened 1/4c minced dried onion flakes Mix well and serve on white bread with it without arugula. Edited to add: add salt and pepper to taste
Mmmm, a good tomato sandwich made with an heirloom or homegrown beefsteak tomato is out of this world. My mother was fond of soft butter with radish tartines. Growing up, my mother made us black bean and avocado or black bean and cotija sandwiches, similar to the dish called Huaraches. Mind you we were straight up poor, so it was one way to fill us up for very little money.
My favorite childhood memory is walking out to the garden with my Papaw, with a pocket knife in hand and picking veggies them slicing them right there and eating them. We would take a tomato up to the porch and slice it, salt and pepper it and add it to some bread with mayo. Tomato sandwiches are still my very favorite thing.
awe...my favorite childhood memories are with my grandparents too. 🥰 My papaw used to carve the pits of peaches into these cute little monkeys 😂 I love that we have these memories.
This for me was your most fun video yet, and that's saying a lot as your videos are always a lot of fun. But I am partial to a "tea party" which in the past for me has always been a picnic style or winter holiday style (think cocoa an eggnog) because finding someone to enjoy tea with me as an American is rare. I'm so happy the "tea" popularity is growing and I finally hosted one during the coronation. It was so wonderful, I definitely plan to do more in the future. Thanks for the extended menu.
Try adding very thinly sliced onion to other sandwiches. I love it on my tomato sandwiches and cucumber sandwiches as well (try garden veggie cream cheese spread with cucumber). I also put onion on ham and cheese sandwiches and grilled cheese. I add pickle slices to my grilled cheese, too.
That was my first thought when she brought the onion out. Of COURSE it can slice thinly and go onto the other sandwiches. Why had I never thought of it before this video? Wonderful!
Great ideas - thanks for all the research you did - I was super impressed with the lemon zester - hadn't seen one of them before - just bought three of them from your amazon store - one for me & one for each of my adult kids
You're welcome 😁 Glad you like this one. I'm so glad you got the lemon zester. I feel like this is definitely a tool that will get a lot of use this summer. 🍋
I really enjoyed this video. will definitely try some of these ideas . I grew up eating cream cheese with chopped green olive on white bread sandwhiches. My mom also made cream cheese and strawberry jam on white bread. My husband won't eat them but I might have to make some anyways.
Hi Karen 😁 Thanks for sharing this. I can see how olives would go well with cream cheese. Now I have to try that 👩🍳 I think overall I liked the cream cheese better than butter so I think I would enjoy the cream cheese with strawberry jam, and even a few slices of strawberries in the middle of that would be good.
What a fun video. I have been dreading the hot weather coming to the north east. Tomorrow is the day and I know what will be on the menu. These sandwich ideas will keep the kitchen cool and appetites satisfied. I was raised a farm kid. We ate from the gatden all summer. I remember radish and onion and tomato sandwiches. We also had shaved yellow beets on sandwiches. I really like your addition of herbs. Your presentation is top notch as always, your inclusive attitude, inspiring.
I used to make high tea parties for my dauotters for a fun day, and we even did a couple of birthday parties with teddy bear Tea parties where you dress up your friend. To come to the party period they say it was some of their favorite birthday parties and special 1 on 1 time that we spent. Their favorite sandwiches were cucumber, cream cheese or radish with arugula at sprouts. But they're absolute. Most favorite was a thin slice of ham with pineapple cream cheese. I often use denser thin sliced bread. Like the ones you get at Aldi A couple of mini quiche from the freezer section and the lovely sweet complete the occasion. My daughters have even gone on to collect mismatched pieces to make their own personal tea sets as college girls. They often make a tea for a quick and easy meal in the dorm
What a great video. I’m making some of these now with herbs, radish and onions from the garden. Reminds me of a favorite quote “bread and water can so easily be toast and tea”
I’ve found chives milder than green onion, it’s what I use for my sandwiches, it’s a more delicate flavor. A little lemon zest in the cream cheese is also very delicious.
my grandma used to make a pineapple ring and mayo sandwich with a touch of salt. Not my favorite but she and my sister loved it. You could use all that leftover bread to make one of those breakfast bakes too.
for the onion sandwich: for thin slices, use a mandolin slicer; also, I think it would make a nicer sandwich to 'quick fry' the onion in either oil or 'quick grill' it on a George Foreman--not until it wilts, it should still be crisp, but this would add a bit of smoky flavor and would make it a bit more palatable (than just cold onions)...it would bring some of the sugar to the fore...dts/usa
This is so fun! I made 40 of those onion sandwiches for my best friends, daughter, sweet 16 party. They are delicious if you can find thin, sliced bread or buy a loaf of bread at the bakery and have it thin sliced it’s even better.
I was also going to add that you can take those ham and make them into little cornucopia is that you filled with season cream cheese and that was a James Beard thing from his early days running an hors d’oeuvre catering business… James Beard wrote an amazing book, called delights and prejudice, and there’s a whole chapter about how he became a Tea party caterer. It’s a Lovely book!
Oh I would love to read that book. 😁 I see they have it on Kindle. I was surprised at how good those onions sandwiches were. I agree...thin bread is the way to go.
Looks delicious. I wish I had a platter full. My mom is French and when we moved here we always had radishes with real butter. My American cousins still eat them like that! Great video!
Thank you 😁 Glad you like my video. I've had some other viewers say that their French relatives started them eating the radishes with butter here in the U.S. too. Love this info. Our food is influenced by all cultures so it's interesting to see where things originate.
I finished watching and went and made myself some of the lemon and dill cream cheese. Had cucumber and tomato sandwich and you are right about the cream cheese on the radishes! This is one of your best and most creative videos! Thanks Michelle!!!🎉
🪻👑✨ Hi, Michelle! I love tea sandwiches. Tomato sandwiches are one of my favorites, especially in the summer when you can get homegrown tomatoes. I really liked this video! I loved the music and am a fan of royalty. ✨👑🪻
Hi Debbie 😁 Glad you like this video because I did have a lot of fun with it. I think I will be eating a lot of those tomato sandwiches this summer. 🍅 They are so refreshing!
As a child in the UK sandwiches were standard fare but not quite so fancy as yours. Try the onion sandwich with cream cheese instead of butter. Radish was a favourite summer treat with salad. Lovely video
What a fun video. Our mom used to make us tomato sandwiches all the time in the summer. She grew the big beefsteak tomatoes. Thanks for sharing and always plating your food so beautifully. Debi in Vicksburg, MS. 🥰🥰
I love this video! I enjoy cucumber sandwiches with mayo, salt and pepper. I will try the herbs. My favorite tea sandwich is cream cheese and olive, with a little bit of onion juice. (Slice a white onion is half and scrape it with a knife for juice. Very subtle.)
I didn't think of olives but after reading this I just went and had a little of the herbed cream cheese on a cracker with an olive and it was delicious. Another viewer mentioned olives and cream cheese too. It's a great combination that I hadn't thought of. Thank you 😁
Red onion would be great in the onion sandwich too. Definitely not fancy but my ultimate favourite sandwich is leftover roast lamb with vegetables. You do need to squash or flatten the vegetables first.
Love all the sandos! I’ve not tried them yet but think I’ll love the onion and mayo rounds (used to eat cheese, onion and Mayo sandwiches growing up😁). Like that all these are both quick and cheap. & the Crusts and the left overs from the rounds would make great French toast sticks and toad-in-a-hole too! So yummy 😋!
My mother was born in 1934 and lived through the Depression in Montana............... she told us that her mother made them radish sandwiches (butter/radish/white bread)..... and to hear her tell it.... it was a real hardship they endured due to the depression............. come to find out.......my grandmother was making them bougie food for tea time.......... radish sandwiches, cucumber sandwiches, egg salad sandwiches........... and my mom just didn't get it......... so ironic, since my mom was such a snob later in life!!!!
Oh my gosh, this was so fun AM, thank you!! Having worked in a tea room at one time this was a nice trip down memory lane when helping with the formal teas which I loved. Can't wait to make some of these on a hot Texas afternoon! 😋👌🥪
I'm so glad you like this video 😁 It's been nice to see how many of my viewers enjoyed this. I wasn't sure how it would be received. Thanks for letting me know 🥰
You had me at English tea sandwiches! I already made the first cucumber and butter sandwich for lunch today since I had all of the ingredients on hand. I grow fresh mint as well as some other herbs and these sandwiches are another great way to use them. I am inspired to have a tea party! We have some local tea houses and it is a treat to go there, but they are very expensive for lunch. It is so much more economical to make these at home. I need to watch Pride and Prejudice now too- the 2005 version is my favorite movie of all time.
Hi Melissa 😁 I once went on a 3 day cruise off the coast of California and while on it, I went to an English tea service (by myself). It was my favorite experience of the entire trip 😂 I had so much fun that I've wanted to go to other tea services too but they are very expensive where I live also. 💰 I'm excited to watch that movie. I've heard it's great.
Thank you for sharing!! I see some very interesting ideas! I love a simple tomato sandwich!! Maybe it's a Southern thang but i very much enjoy a quick bologna sandwich either with Dukes mayonnaise or some mustard. I also enjoy jam sandwiches. Also club combo turkey & ham sandwiches are very flavorful. Randomly not a huge cream cheese fan here but i like to substitute cool whip instead, similar to asian style sandwiches with fruit. Reminds me of strawberry shortcake, maybe that's why.
pbj with raspberry jam is my all time favorite, also tomato with mayo and black pepper on rye probably my second favorite...I think I would like the cream cheese and herbs you made with cucumber sandwich...I think another low cost option would be to roll up in a tortilla instead of bread...tortillas take up less room in the freezer, it gets so humid here in the summer bread might get moldy in a few days (wasted food/money)
I haven't had rye bread in a long time. Thanks for the reminder about that. I have some tortilla wraps that I make for parties. Might be great in another video for summer. 🤔
This was so interesting. Also radish sandwiches are so delicious. I remember my grandmother making them for us when we were little, and my great grandmother made it for her as a child as well. But the interesting thing is we have French in our lineage and I wouldn't have thought that to be from there.
Very nice video. Love cucumber sandwiches as well as tomato sandwiches. Will give the onion and radish one and the cream cheese recipe a try. Have a blessed and beautiful day 🥰
I loved my aunt's cream cheese and aspargus sandwiches (tinned). When she made alot of tea sandwiches she would cover them with a damp tea towel to keep them from drying out. A+ video rating from me! 😊 You are awesome! ❤
Hello 😁 and thank you so much. Hmmm...never heard of cream cheese and asparagus sandwiches but I would love to try them. Did she just put the cream cheese on the bread and top with the canned asparagus or did she mix the asparagus in with the cream cheese?
She put the cream cheese on a piece of sliced white bread with crusts cut off. Just make sure your asparagus is dried on paper towels. Roll it up like a cigar. You could also look under Funeral Sandwiches. Cheers!
I'm not a fan of mayo but love tomato sandwiches from growing up in Louisiana. I think the herbed cream cheese mixture would be tasty on a mater sandwich. I've also added yellow mustard, Swiss cheese and bread and butter pickles to my tomato sandwich. Superb!
I've never tried vegan mayo, wondering if it tastes the same as mayo. I do like mayo with the tomato sandwiches though. I think that herbed cream cheese would go on anything! 😂
Hi Michelle! ❤ such a cute video idea! My fiancés mother is British & he grew up in England ! These are adorable and perfect! He loves a good cheese a Cu sandiwich’ butter goes on so many of their options & it’s so yummy! ❤
Hi Michelle, This was great! I've made some of those before, and on Mother's Day this year we had a ladies luncheon in this same theme. I don't know why I don't do this more often. I've never tried strawberries and cream cheese on a sandwich but of course I love 💕 strawberry cheesecake so I'm going to try this, I do have strawberries already so today might be a good day to try it. I'm also hungry right now so these look double good to me. Thanks Michelle, I always look forward to Sunday when a new video comes out. Charlotte
Hi Charlotte 😁 Glad you like this. If you like honey, try that drizzled over the top of the strawberries over the cream cheese. So good. 😋 Have a great rest of your weekend.
Mushroom sandwiches are wonderful. Just white bread, mayo, thinly sliced mushrooms, lightly salted. Cucumber or tomato the same way. A very tiny bit of sugar on a tomato sandwich is so good. I love the way you did the edge of the round sandwich with parsley. Very elegant. (Tres chic) My father grew great big bunches of dill out in the garden. He would bundle them and hang them from the eaves of the garden shed. It smelled absolutely wonderful in there. I loved this video. These are affordable, but I won't feel poor eating them. (I am trying hard to convince myself that poor is just a mindset. Easier said than done when I'm cold and hungry, but I have a vivid imagination :)
Hello 😁 I'll have to try mushroom sandwiches. I've had a portobello burger but not a sandwich like you describe. Poverty does mess with the mind in a way that little else does. I can relate, because I grew up in extreme poverty. I hope my channel is helpful. 🤗
@@ArdentMichelle Your channel is very helpful. Not only the food, but also the calm, hopeful attitude you have. You help people feel better about life, and that is a gift.🙂🙂🙂
How fun would this be for a luncheon with the girls? and wine! I forget about making cucumber sandwiches. I really like them. Thanks for the history with the sandwiches. Your thumbnail was eye catching. My first thought was "oh how cute" & then realized it was your video. 32,000🥳🥳
I know that's what I was thinking. I would love to host a tea party and have you all over. 🫖Some of you would have to make a cross country trip to get to me though 😂
The best is salmon and cream cheese for the finger sandwiches- you must try it if you haven't already. :) Also your sandwiches resemble finger sandwiches, but those should be cut a bit thinner, so you can hold them between finger and thumb. They are two fingers wide, so maybe half the width of yours. Antipasti is delicious but if you're making an Afternoon Tea, you need (British) plain scones, clotted cream if you can get or make it where you are, and strawberry jam.
Can't get clotted cream at the grocery stores here, but we could make it. Or, World Market has little jars of it, but they are expensive. Thanks for sharing this info. 👩🍳 I'm thinking the size of the strawberry with cream cheese rectangles was about two fingers wide. It would be fun to do this again sometime and include some of the ones that I didn't have time to make.
Love these unique and tasty sandwich ideas for the warm summer days. 🌞 Years ago I made the cucumber sandwiches, don't know why I stopped. I use radishes mainly in stir fry but I am going to try the sandwich. The onion sandwich sounds tasty as well. In my world onions are their own food group so I am excited to try the sandwich. 😊 I have that lemon zester, lol, can't recall the last time I used it. 🍋
Hi Pat 😁 Hmmm.... I've never used the red radishes in stir fry, but I have tried daikon radishes in it. I need to try the red. I figured that there are lots of people that would LOVE that onion sandwich 🧅 I think it's starting to grow on me. When I find a good sweet onion, I'll try it again. That lemon zester is AWESOME. I'm in a lemon phase right now 😂
Oh, I enjoyed this video so much, Michelle! Years ago, my mother and I used to have "tea parties." 🙂 One of my favorite ways to do the cucumber sandwich was to "butter" the bread with a good mayonnaise, adding thinly slicing the cucumber, salt and fresh dill. A modern (to me) take on the radish sandwich is to "butter" the bread with a thin layer of guacomole and top with thinly sliced radishes. And the ever-loving date and nut bread with cream cheese always showed up too. Thank you for always sharing your good ideas via lovely presentations. ❤
Hi Jean 🥰 Glad you like this one. Oh I love the idea of the guacamole with the radishes and also the date and nut bread with cream cheese sounds divine!
I also love the movie (and book!) Pride & Prejudice. Last summer we hosted a luncheon at Cape Cod ion our boat, and I served tea sandwiches with a mixed melon and berry salad, with lemonade to drink. I just made cucumber sandwiches and egg salad sandwiches and I just cut them in triangles with the crusts off. They were a huge hit, but with the help of all your great ideas I’ll really knock their socks off! Especially looking forward to your magical cream cheese concoction with avocado! I have a few different sizes of circle cutters, some stars, and a simple flower that I think will be fun. Thank you so much for this fun video, it was a delightful change of pace but still in keeping with your budget minded sensibilities. I wasn’t looking forward to this trip but now I’m feeling inspired!💖
Hi Susan 😁 Thank you for your support 💜 I'm so grateful! Wow that sounds like such a nice luncheon. Wish I could have seen that. Re: Pride and Prejudice - I was wondering if I should try reading the book as a mini mind vacay, but then told myself I don't have the time. I barely have the time for the movie 😂 Hoping to watch it tonight. I heard it was very good and I'm so into this theme. Wish I would have had time to make the chicken and egg sandwich. Love the star and flower cutters - that will be so nice. Everyone enjoys the small details, even if they don't mention it at the time. It's what makes the memories so special - that and the company 🥰 Glad you like this themed video!
@@susans9491 oh yes! Happy 4th 🥳🇺🇸 but more importantly, Happy Anniversary 🎉❤ That's so awesome. I'm wishing you both a beautiful day and good food of course 😂
@@ArdentMichelle Thank you! It’s going to rain, of course, but we plan to go out to dinner at a nice restaurant nearby, maybe take one or both of the boys along. And we just ate cucumber sandwiches! Thanks for reminding us about how much we love them.❤️
Great work Michelle. I've been craving cucumber sandwiches. The great depression channels I watch all have a video about radish sandwiches. I've never had an onion sandwich before. Penny sandwich is bite sized. I've been getting a spring onion and chive cream cheese lately and it's delicious and would work on all of these sandwiches. With all the crusts and some herbs you can make 'italian breadcrumbs' which normally cost a lot for a small bag. Thanks for the video.
Hello 😁 and thank you so much. Not sure if it related on camera, but the penny sandwich I made was bite sized, but possibly still too large. I like the idea of the onion and chive cream cheese. Great idea for the Italian breadcrumbs. 👍
My favorite is ham on white with miracle whip but if i feel fancy a good ol Bs sandwich ( bacon and homemade fried shrimp after i find the shrimp on sale batter it and season it and fry it like we like .then the leftovers get chilled then toast miracle whip crispy bacon and cold leftover shrimp..very good..then just a bacon sandwich or chicken salad with miracle whip chopped red green apples and red grapes and bacon bits ( optional) on toast 😂
My mom would thin sliced radishes and onions and soak them in water with a tsp of vinegar overnight. Then she would mix herbs and roasted tomatoes into her spread like your cream cheese. And she’d make garden sandwiches and fresh lemonade. Her favorite sweet summer flavor was strawberry/pineapple with cottage cheese on lightly toasted Hawaiian rolls.
@@ArdentMichelle my mom was a homegrown veggie girl originally from Lemon Grove, CA. She had a garden anywhere she had a square foot of land or windowsill
The British use butter on most sandwiches, but when I tried it with ham, I didn't really care for it. I'm not sure how I'd like it with cucumber, but I could try. I do like cream cheese best.
I enjoyed this very much. Some history and context which is always nice. I kept thinking about pickle relish which is NOT light and airy but it is way less fussy with herbs, a little spicy and sweet, not to mention easy to spread. My Dad during the depression grew up eating pickle relish sandwiches or pickle relish and peanut butter. I'm sure most of your views are going ICK but the combination actually tastes good!
Yay! 😁 Glad you like my video! I like this idea. Someone else mentioned bread and butter chips with cheddar, and I'm thinking relish with cheddar would be good too. I definitely think peanut butter and pickles works also. So many options for quick and inexpensive sandwiches. 👩🍳
This is one of my favorite videos of yours😍Everything you said I thought 30 seconds prior like the hors d’oeuvres, croutons and then changing the dairy stuff with avocado. However, you’re making me want to put fresh herbs in a salad and mixing almost everything together in one sandwich avocado radish cucumber all herbs with a butter or mayo outside and everything bagel😋. I am someone who definitely gets into a funk of eating the same things over and over but you are always so inspiring, thank you😊
You're welcome 😁 I love enjoying seasonal food. It makes the summer more special in my opinion. I love that I've inspired you. I hope you try this and indulge in the fresh flavors of summer.
