My style. My 3 kids and I Can speak Lao but can't read or write in lao but wife can. I Came to US when I was only 6yrs old in 1980. Love all your travel videos in laos....
Im the same way. I can only speak and cannot read and write. Alot of kids that came as first generation to the states were not taught to read & write in the Lao language. I came here when I was a year old. I, myself coming to America as a refugee...you weren't put in Lao school. At home you were spoke to in Lao.. then you go to the American schools not knowing the English language, you were only taught the English language & writing. So that's all we know & learn !! English writing & reading.
Nothing weird or wrong for most Lao-American to just speak and not be able to read because we grew up and raised in the U.S. we don’t g to school to read Lao here. Not for the majority of us. It’s good enough that we even speak Lao . Lol
