Well gosh, where have y'all been hiding lol. I follow so many homesteaders and just stumbled across y'all. I totally agree with everything you've said. I appreciate you for being real! Being Christian ✝️ ❤ and being role models for those of us trying our very best to escape suburbia!!! Take care and God Bless🙏🏼♥️
I think you're both right when it comes to the loud voices on social media about animal care. While it seems like the few are bullying the masses about homesteaders that are raising their own food (Carrie says there are many, Caleb says there are few) they do eat whatever quick and easy options are available from fast food restaurants or from grocery stores (what Caleb said) and they don't think twice about it. So "out of sight, out of mind" seems to be satisfactory for their food supply. Showing our viewers where our food comes from is shocking to many, but if and when our food supply is ever disrupted, people will be faced with the reality of where our food comes from.
Thanks Jake 😊 it actually is quite alarming when you step back and think that the idea of meat coming from an animal that was raised for that purpose is something that needs to be “normalised”!
Thanks for sharing! We’ve been raising our own pigs and chickens for a few years and have been blessed to teach our children, family and friends the entire process. It’s now become a part of our very existence.
Thanks Joe! We have found our kids get excited to enjoy eating home raised chicken and they already cant wait for the bacon! As a mamma its a win win since i know exactly whats in their food too!
Thankyou for your encouragement! Glad you found us... We definitely are here for more of Christ and less of the world!! Your profile pic looks like Greek lettering - what does it say?
Excellent explanation. Especially appreciated the Biblical references. “It contained all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles and birds. Then a voice told him, “Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.” “Surely not, Lord!” Peter replied. “I have never eaten anything impure or unclean.” The voice spoke to him a second time, “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.”” Acts 10:12-15 NIV
I agree with Caleb. I read just the other day that 93% of vegans are becoming meat eaters within 2 years of starting that life style. Yes, we all have choices. We have a homestead (for 35 years) and have grown our own food. Gardening as well as chickens, pork, beef and at one point lamb. We always take great care of our animals and they are roaming the pastures eating grass, bugs, and we know what our food contains. We and our children have a healthy lifestyle and we love our food. The Biblical side of it that Caleb talked about is so true. Yes, we have a choice and we chose to eat meat as well as our garden vegetable as well as herbs. It is a great life. Love your channel. :). Came here through your podcast with Lisa on Farmhouse on Boone.
I found you because I was searching for ways to kill horseflies. Not a very vegan thing to do. But I have been vegan for over 30 years, and watched your video out of curiosity. I suppose if I were starving to death, I might do what you are doing but since there are lots of other things to eat that I prefer to animal products, I’ll stick with that. Animals are sentient and my conscience tells me to be kind to animals and not kill them. Thanks for the horsefly info.
Thankyou for commenting and sharing your view, I hope the horse fly video helps some- I hate those things with a passion 😂, it did make me pause for a moment and wonder how under the principle of kindness to Animals its ok to kill horseflies but no argument from me lol i wish someone would wipe them all out along with ticks!!!
I think there's a lot of paid opposition and or bots making negative comments. You'd be surprised how many are fake. I tend to believe they're more reasonable people than we see. I love meat and I am just starting off with my first set of chickens for eggs and at some point as meat. We are starting a garden. Not my first one but haven't had one in a few yrs. So I'm excited. Love your show. Just found you today. Love the info and humor you add in. Lol
Eat meat! 😂 We started being concerned about how our meat was being raised before we ate it about 9 years ago. I would definitely be leaning towards veganism if it wasn’t for learning how to properly raise animals and butcher them for their health and ours. We now try to raise our own animals or source our meat from local farmers who raise the animals ethically. As Christians I think we are meant to be good stewards of what God has given us. That means caring for the animals he gave us in a way that is healthy and humane. ❤ Great video!
lol! Thats funny - if there was ever a reason to turn vegan it would be exactly that!! Yes, stewardship is at the heart of why we do what we do, everyone benefits that way.. thanks for watching 🙌❤
