I don’t believe that I as a Christian should be shoving my own beliefs down anyone’s throat. I loved your dinner story. I'm a lot like you. I am always a little nervous around people and I always try to say the right thing. Standing up for yourself was fantastic. I can't understand people that think they know more than you do about how you should live your life. More than likely he was a very unhappy person or at the very least misguided. I grew up in the Bible belt and I learned at an early age what hypocrites some organized religions are. None of us knows what lays beyond. Won't know 'til we die. Sounds like you handled the awkward Jesus talk very well! I'm from Kansas and SO many people would approach me and my husband to tell us that God loves us and blah blah. I remember being 19 in a grocery store standing in a cat aisle after work debating on cat treats when an older man came out of nowhere and informed me it wasn't Halloween. I wear fishnet even as a grown ass woman of 36. He went off about how my mother must be so ashamed of me and that I needed to find God. That struck a chord because my mom always supported me flying my "freak flag" and was always proud of me for not giving a shit what people said. I went off about how she's actually really proud of me because I had a full time job, an apartment with my boyfriend and was thriving without God. Another man came up who said he was this mans nephew and apologized. I told him he was lucky I'm a nice person because his uncle deserved to be kicked in the face for treating a stranger so poorly. I grew up in a Catholic family and knew by age 10 I was a non believer. I have several friends who believe different things but they don't try to change me and I don't try to change them. I've lived in Washington for 12 years and have never had anyone try to save me...the Midwest states are so weird and seem to be in another world sometimes!

There is nothing wrong with being gay even the Pope has except gay's. He no longer sees it as a sin. The next time someone tries to save you. Use their region against them to tell them that. God made all of us, and he never makes mistakes, so I am perfect. God made me so I am perfect just the way I am, so thanks.

I do believe being a good person is great but will not get you into heaven. I feel you have to be saved. I am not one to preach to anyone.
