Fresh Yellow Eyed Mullet are great eating. The secret is to eat them soon after catching. They deteriorate with time and freezing.

Good on you Nev for taking the trip head on. When possible variety is the key to success in living off the land or water. May i be so bold to make a few suggestions, take an esky, butter as well as oil for cooking. Herbs and spices will help with variety also. The most important thing is that 99% of fish are delicious when cooked fresh. Don’t throw any back until you’ve finished fishing for the day. A keeper net will help with this. That’s just from an older fella that has done this before. I’m so jealous that I can’t do it anymore. You’re a great RU-vidr Nev, very enjoyable. 👍🏻

I think a TV or RU-vid kayak fishing series filmed at freshwater and saltwater locations across Australia would be very popular.

lakes entrance is one of the best places ive gone for fishing trips, ive fished lake tyers many times and caught plenty of flatties and bream including a 42cm bream

Great video again mate.I'm currently in Germany for a holiday. Fishing restrictions are so tough over here and you have to pay to fish daily so I can't wait to go back home to Geelong and enjoy what we have to offer at home. Tyers was a bit tough 3 weeks ago when I was there but found a lot of flathead which was great.

On the right side of the long Jetty go in about up to your knees and flick soft plastic grubz 2.5", plenty of nice size flat heads, also can pump yabbies in that same area believe it or not but best to have a floating sieve 👍

Gday Nev, Dam good vid mate A1. Those big mullet are suburb eating. Lots of meat and big bones, nothing like normal yellow eye mullet. Truely better than bream. I’ve caught heaps in Tyres 👍🎣

Unfortunately there is no fishing in the middle of Australia but I am coming down to Adelaide for 1 month in June July to stay at my grandparents place and a few other places and I want to do a ton of fishing I know a spot where I can target elephant sharks and seven gill sharks I know you hate seven gills but I’ll be fishing land based for them of a little jetty on a little island called granite island at Victor harbour. If you were going to target 7 gills what set up would you use like hook size trace sinker bait. also for the elephants

Opening spot Mill Point, got my 12 1/2 pound flatty there 30 years ago.. 2nd last Spot Tarra River, fished that same platform heaps.

grew up on that river with the bridge, got some huge bass in my younger years further inland by 2 ks or so

Nice video Nev. I think the oil exploded on you while heating it up because some drops of water were in the pan. Just make sure the pan is dry by heating it up before adding in oil.

Dude mullet are awesome eating, try it next time. Underrated fish, better than the bream hands down. Great video though mate 👍🏼 also a great book to read....makes our lives seem very good compared to what he went through.

Trick is to put the fish in the pan by one tip and lay it in away from you. That way you avoid hot fat splash backs👍🏻
