Those burgers were huge!! And so were the mussels! You got me salivating on this one, guys. It's so lovely to see the green landscapes you get to drive through, and the clear, crisp air blowing around you. The pub grub sure wasn't a bargain, though!
😝😝😝 it’s not easy on the pocket travelling around NZ. We’re slowly getting used to it- kind of 🤪 So happy you enjoyed this one MsKestrela. We loved the scenery on this part of NZ- simply stunning. Thanks for watching and commenting on this one 😘 Cheers, Sheena

It's the only way i love eat mussels, only raw 😍😍😍😍 the red ones have a slight sweeter taste (no not actually lollie sweet, but sea sweet If that makes any sense lol) I mean il eat them steamed/cooked too, but I prefer them FRESH raw straight out of the sea or still in the shell atleast 😍 yummy!!!! Grew up eating seafood raw thanks to my Nana 😁
Those mussels had me salivating! Wow, so big and juicy. Shout out to Mills Bay Mussels! Follow them on Instagram and got a huge kick seeing you eat them. It was like a vicarious treat lol. Another top video!
😍😍😍 that’s so cool mate! Oh my gosh those mussels were epic- so big and plump 🤤 Loved them! Thanks for watching and commenting and so happy you enjoyed this episode. Cheers, Sheena
Sounds bloody delicious Frank! Looking forward to the colder months so I can get into making smoked fish chowder at home! Thanks for watching this one, hope you enjoyed it. Cheers, Sheena
Loving New Zealand guys! It's a country that is inaccessible for most being so far away and expensive to travel to, so it''s a real treat to see your videos. I wish the UK would adopt more sustainable means to farm our food. xx
Hi Selina! Yes, we are quite isolated down here 😆 We’re so happy this series allows you to travel and eat with us and that it makes NZ more accessible to you all! We have loved connecting with sustainable food businesses here- it’s exciting hearing what people are doing on that front. I think food systems all around the world need to have sustainability at the forefront- Mother Earth depends on it 💕 Thanks for watching this one and we’re so happy you enjoyed it! Cheers, Sheena
😄😍😄😍 we’re so happy you’re enjoying the series Yara Chau! It’s such a joy sharing these food gems on the channel. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Sheena
We’re slowly starting to get used to the prices here tsocanuck 😆 They’re a bit of a shock really! Thanks for watching and commenting on this one, so glad you enjoyed it. Cheers, Sheena
@@Alina_Valentina: Hello gorgeous Girl. Most of our mussels here in Australia are the green lipped ones from NZ and l can tell you they are to die for. Fortuantly this is one gem l dont have to go to NZ to appreciate 👍
I can’t believe it had taken me sooo long to eat a raw mussel 😆 Loved it! Thanks for watching and commenting, hope you enjoyed this video! Cheers, Sheena
Not all green lipped mussels carry the bitter taste others are recognisably sweeter plump meatier and give extra superior flavor. In time with more experience you'll identify quality by sight. Enjoy! 😮

Raw mussels are my FAAAAVE! I love it straight out of the shell as it is, but also love it with a squeeze of limeor lemon or cooked through garlic coconut cream or just steamed. My childhood favourite because of my nana 😍😍 seafood FOREVER! I cant wait to visit the mussel farm there!
Omg cooked through garlic coconut cream 🤤 YUM! How has it taken us this long to eat them raw!? They were so delicious 😍 My nana used to cook them in a black bean sauce when we were kids. So good. Thanks for watching and commenting on this one mate, hope you enjoyed it! Cheers, Sheena
Hi SuzyGrowsMyBiz! I wouldn’t say it’s that common here in NZ either but we were keen to give them a go especially as the water is so clean in this part of the country. They were delicious! Thanks for watching and commenting on this episode- hope you enjoyed it 😘 Cheers, Sheena
I used to treat myself on a Friday arvo to a dozen raw mussels back when I was in NZ. $3-$4/kg back in 2017. Hope they haven't gotten too expensive since.
Sounds like the perfect Friday arvo treat D! I don’t think the price has gone up too much 🤞they’re so tasty- I can’t believe this was the first time we’d eaten them raw- talk about missing out! Thanks for watching mate. Cheers, Sheena
I Liked the video at the moment Sheena popped that raw mussel into her mouth. Wow! What an experience😍never thought we could eat raw mussels. I learnt something new😄

Those were huge! Just wondering who does the editing? Thomas....didn’t see you try a raw one! I think I would have stayed with the broiled ones. Weather looks beautiful. Really enjoyed the video!

Surprising reading through comments how many people haven’t had the luxury of eating raw mussels. One more thing I miss about NZ, unfortunately hard to find fresh raw mussels here in oz in local supermarkets like they have back home
It really is a luxury eh Mario- I can’t believe it took us so long to get into them. They’re so delicious. Hope it’s not long before you can get back to Aotearoa for a feed of them! Thanks for watching and commenting 😄 Cheers, Sheena

Stay tuned mate 😄 we ate at an awesome Nepali restaurant the other day 😍 Thanks for watching and commenting on this one, hope you enjoyed it. Cheers, Sheena
Yum I eat these here in sydney. We can only get them frozen but it’s still good. They have to remove the skirt or the gills inside and the worm like entrail inside the mussel otherwise it could be bitter to the taste. ❤❤❤
Bra, those are little mussels. I agree they are yum and I’ll be visiting that place but be real, those are little ones😁 oh and I’ll only be eating them raw... that’s the only way to eat em IMO... great vid btw
😆 they were plump and juicy mate! 🤤 How has it taken us this long to get into them raw!? Thanks for watching and commenting On ix, stoked you enjoyed the video! Cheers, Sheena

Awesome _surf n turf_ day! *_mussels_* - Along with Moules Frites I had raw mussels in Brussels. Fresh and quite tasty indeed. Here's a coincidence...Belgium imports the majority of their mussels from *_Zeeland,_* Netherlands. 😀 (Spain during the warm months BTW) *_pub burger_* - I love slaw on burgers. Mmm, mmm. Very fun day!
Love that Tosh! Moules Frites- such a satisfying meal. I’d love to eat them in Brussels one day. I’m a fan of slaw on burgers too- that one really hit the spot. So happy you enjoyed this one mate, thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers, Sheena
Belgium is a gastronomic delight, Sheena. Fish from the North Sea; local beef; arguably the best chocolates in the world and without question the best beer on the planet. And since you enjoy chips, delicious frites are served with many of the classic national dishes - moules-frites, steak frites, white asparagus (super popular in season) and frites, carbonade (braised beef) and frites...I think my tartare and toast also came with a side of fries. 🤔😂
if you are going to eat raw mussels make sure you pull the green lip off before eating my ex did this and i had to pull it out of her throat with thweesers bush doctor systle lol
😆😂 you’re game Daniel! We’re normally pretty good at whipping off that green lip but sometimes we get lazy cause we’re so greedy 😆 Thanks for watching and commenting mate, hope you enjoyed the video. Cheers, Sheena

Hi Guy's Caught the next vid,New Zealand mussels are delicious, the pub looks really cool, check the burgers there huge.My Dad back in the day used to collect black mussels, scrub the shells and then steam them in a large pot with some white wine(Good quality) and a little red chilli finely sliced, and a little garlic, pop a lid on the pot and steam only until the mussels open remove from pot, spoon a little of the liquor over, you can have these with some good white crusty bread ,if you haven't had them this way give it a try, simple but amazing!really enjoyed this ,could taste these suckers, and the look on your faces says it all, stay safe cheers from Australia 🦘
