In AYURVEDIC MEDICINE (the Traditional Hindu System of Medicine), eating with the hands has many benefits including AIDING DIGESTION. In Trinidad and Guyana in particular, the Hindi word - saannaa/sānnā/ SANAY - means TO MIX LIKE DOUGH or MASH, and refers to the act of using the bare hand and fingers to mix food before eating. Today, with cutlery (knives, spoons, and forks), only about 12% of the world's population wash their hands before eating. There's therefore a lot of wisdom in eating with one's hands; namely, it requires washing the hands! Mr. Bat is 100% correct when he underscores the fact that it was mostly Europeans, and primarily the British, who ate with cutlery - keen observation by Mr. Bat! Interestingly enough, as regards the evolution of cutlery, the spoon came first, followed by the knife, and lastly by the fork which was initially used for spearing things. An even more interesting historical fact is that the Catholic Church vehemently resisted and opposed the use of forks because it was reminiscent of the DEVIL WITH HIS PITCHFORK! There should therefore be no shame whatsoever in eating with one's hands, and for those of us in the Caribbean and elsewhere, we can certainly attest to the fact that a MANGO TASTES MUCH SWEETER AND BETTER WHEN EATEN USING ONE'S HANDS THAN WITH A KNIFE AND FORK, AND DITTO FOR EATING ROTI! So Mr. Lyndon Baptiste's observation that there's more pleasure in eating meat with the hands, and that it trumps using cutlery or utensils any day is spot on "Inside Caura".
Wow now seeing this video which is after his passing, this makes me soo sad, Lyndon you did so much with him, spent alot of time bringing him out here and we all fell in love with Mr. Bat and Harry as well, can't believe he has left us but departed alot of his knowledge with us, may he RIP, 🙏🙌😇
There is something inherently magical about this/these videos. Do not ever stop, even when you're busy make time to capture this story. I salute you and everyone involved.

Lyndon I pass and called you out hard this evening. The woman that runs the last bar told me where I can find you but we had a far journey to South and it was getting late. Wish I could of met you guys
I hear you loud and clear... well kinda; it so happened I was doing noisy work and wearing ear plugs. If you see me looking around like a madman. I ask my brother "You call me?" and he say "Nah boy."
Did anyone notice that Mr Bat used his left hand to eat with the spoon but used his right hand to eat with his hand? Anyway, I can eat very comfortable with my hand; a spoon; knife and fork or chop sticks. My Mum taught us as kids although she grew up in the hand and spoon days. Her lessons were to prepare us for later on in life saying that no one knew the future. My skills in eating with the different types of eating utensils has enable me to fit in well in every culture and society. I give thanks. 🙏
Good Morning Lyndon , Mr Bat and Farmer Harry I always enjoy Your Videos. Reminds me of our days at Caura since the Sixties. Missed those wonderful days.
Good day, Mulchan. Thank you very much for taking time out to watch our videos. Caura must have been a very different place in the sixties. I can't begin to imagine but we're fortunate to have records left by men like Dr Michael Anthony.
You did well using your hand to eat Mr Lyndon …when I am at home I always use my hands to eat..somehow the food always taste better when you use your hands to eat..
@@lyndonbaptiste Curry chicken led to such an amazing natural free flowing convo that no one seen it coming! I thought that was magical and sorta abstract and organic all at the same time. It worked brilliantly on this vlog. 🙏🙏🙏
Viewing this today - only after viewing your last posting of Mr. Bat's funeral. Sad! Listening to Mr Bat speak with you while sharing this simple meal he prepared and, not knowing what the next few days would bring. Little did he know his earthly life was limited. Sad indeed! Not known personally to many, but nonetheless, through your vlogs many (I'm sure) are shocked and saddened to learn of his demise. One could see the relationship you built with Mr. Bat - a humble man, living a simple life and, it appears, a contented one; he, with his Toyota truck and his dogs, living off the land, was more fit than many his own age - because of this perhaps - with daily exercise - no gym membership; natural foods, not factory made. Moral of the story: be kind to one another; do not chase after material wealth; spend time with family and loved ones, for tomorrow is not promised.
It really was very good. You can see the preparation in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FSgznX669lQ.html For your convenience I've included the timestamp in the link.
🇹🇹⭐🌟🍜🍛 Hi THERE, MR. LYNDON, WATCHING YOU GUYS, IT'S SHOWS CONTENTMENT AND SIMPLICITY IN A WONDERFUL RELATIONSHIP, GOD'S CHOICEST BLESSINGS TO YOU ALL, KEEP UP WHAT US TRINBAGO PEOPLE ARE ALL ABOUT, GOODNIGHT 🇹🇹🙏🌿♥️🇹🇹
Here in southern Belize(Central America)there is a tiny community of East Indians (who came to work on Sugar plantations in the 1800s). Having said that, I remember my granma eating with her hands. She called it "saano". I dont know what language "saano" comes from. My mom remembers her grandparents speaking a language to each other that she( my mom) didn't understand.
Good morning Lyndon ,I can relate to eating certain foods with my hand .. eg bagee dhal and rice , have not done it in quite a while lol ( some people find that is quite disgusting to eat with your hands) to that I say to each their own, nice interacting again with Mr Bat bro , nice times. 8~D
Thank you very much I appreciate your support. You can find links to my e-books in the video description. If you're interested in hardcopies please contact me at (868)487-9115. I'm on WhatsApp too.
🇹🇹🇩🇰🤩 Oh my goodness, so nice to see Uncle Bat🦇. Nice, delicious recipe, rice and curry chicken🐓. So where’s the pepper 🌶 sauce and Coachella? I notice, when Mr. Lyndon visit Mr. Harry and Mr. Bat… he gotta eat. Mr Lyndon love to eat, he loves his belly👍. Nice vlog, so entertaining just watching these two gentlemen dining together, reminiscing.
Memories. Ah just hope you wash your hands before. jajaja. I like it. You just like me. Yes man . You must bite up the bone. Real Trini. Good old days. Thanks
Cuz, that chicken curry was on point. Eating food with you hand / fingers , you know the temperature of the food before putting it in your mouth. 🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾
Anything curry eaten with fingers-uh uh uh, food is tastier and fulfilling.A lil bit ah dhal chunkay with garlic and whole grain geera-boi oh boi.😂😂😂❤❤❤
Very nice video, just watching you two sitting and enjoying a home cooked meal. This act of togetherness and Mr. Bat's technique of eating with his fingers is bang on. His plate is neat, Lyndon's on the other hand speaks volumes. ❤ Lyndon, you did good at the end. Yeah, don't forget to lick your fingers (and maybe the plate). In Canada, even when eating with friends, I tend to do like you Lyndon, most times I reach for the meat with my fingers . LOL!!! GREAT JOB 👍
Thanks for watching Apheena. I'd love for you to shed some light on "speaks volumes"; *nervous grin* On another note, keep holding your meat with your hand.
Sitting, eating ,chatting and talking about interesting topics with a lil humor on the side ,a laugh is good for the soul. Good fellowship with these fellas is pleasant and great company❤❤❤❤
Oui! I just headed over and subscribed. I watched a video that popped up sometime back. One on snakes. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BtY_tYem4YI.html
