Nice Spanish! One of my favorite marinades or binder is a tablespoon of yellow mustard in a bowl of dill pickle juice. Just toss the fillets in before dredging in the cornmeal. It was a common cure for "dirty water" freshwater fish but works well with any kind to add a little flavor snap at the end.

Really Brad , Spinning reels !!! Have you ever heard of conventional or rather baitcasters reels. I mean really, how many fish have you got to leave hooks in. Yeah you can land small fish but the bigger fish always get away. Really !!!

about 12 years ago, A friend and I went to the triple rigs and managed to catch 8 Kings for the 4 of us. There was a baracuda down there doing the same thing there that was 50 pounds. Enormous Baracuda. Great fun.

I'm surprised that you're allowed to tie off to the rig. It'd be prohibited here in Oz and you'd likely end up with bits of pipe and various tools "accidentally" dropping all around you. Gaffing that barracuda is why I used to have a flying gaff for offshore work. That way when you hit a big fish that is hard to control on the gaff, the head detaches and is on a line tied to the boat. You then haul on the line instead of trying to control the gaff. Very handy for big cobia, tuna etc.

My mother used to always make mackerel cakes with mackerel. Using cornmeal in the batter, always delicious!

Hi Brand free gaffing that barracuda was dangerous and awesome at the same time. I have free gaffed a 25 lb cobia back in the mid 1990's it was fun to do but dangerous as customers did not move like I told them to as I brought it onboard they cleared the deck fast once the cobia started trashing around. Wow it has already been a year sense your daughter was born seems like only yesterday, spanish does have a strong taste if you don't bleed them do that and they are a very good fish to eat.
