Food shapes not only how long we live but how good we feel. So what’s the scoop on food and happiness? There's no doubt that ice cream, cookies, and chips have brought a lot of smiles to a lot of faces. But we also know that there’s more happiness in health than in sickness. Food Revolution Network founder Ocean Robbins shares his remarkable family story, and how food can contribute to a thriving life. #tedx #healthyfood #foodandhappiness Ocean Robbins is co-founder & CEO of the 700,000 member Food Revolution Network. He is author of the bestseller, 31-Day Food Revolution: Heal Your Body, Feel Great, and Transform Your World. Ocean founded Youth for Environmental Sanity (YES!) at age 16, and directed it for the next 20 years. He has spoken in person to more than 200,000 people, organized online seminars and events reaching more than a million, and facilitated leadership development events for leaders from 65 nations. He has served as adjunct professor for Chapman University, and is a recipient of the national Jefferson Award for Outstanding Public Service, the Freedom’s Flame Award, the Harmon Wilkinson Award, and many other honors. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

I was very impressed with Ocean's low-key but firm stance on food choices for bettering (or worsening) our lives. In previous speeches he came on a bit condescending, but not here. He was down-to-earth, and made suggestions without implying that he has all the answers for everyone. Bravo!!!!!!

I completely agree! their approach to food choices in this talk was refreshing and inspiring. He presented his ideas in a humble and relatable way, making suggestions without being judgmental. It's clear that he is passionate about helping people improve their lives through better nutrition, and I appreciate his willingness to share his knowledge with others.

It's so important to have experts like Ocean Robbins who can help us navigate the often confusing and overwhelming world of nutrition. I appreciate how he emphasizes the connection between our food choices and our overall well-being, and provides practical tips for making healthier choices. This talk was truly eye-opening and I feel motivated to make positive changes in my own diet.✅

Your insight into Ocean's approach is astute. The low-key yet firm stance he adopted in this talk, combined with a down-to-earth demeanor, was indeed commendable. By sharing suggestions without condescension and acknowledging that he doesn't have all the answers for everyone, Ocean creates an environment of respect and openness. This inclusive perspective allows listeners to consider their own food choices and take ownership of their well-being. Bravo to Ocean for his humility and inspiring talk!

This talk is a reminder that our food choices have a significant impact not only on our physical health, but also on our mental and emotional well-being. Ocean Robbins presents this information in a way that is accessible and easy to understand, without being overly prescriptive or judgmental. Used to love Baskin Robbins and am so grateful that Food Revolution came instead afterwards!! I’m a vegan and would love if a vegan chain of food was created around the world to compete with MacDonald s for instance to make vegan fast food available to the masses. Imagine being able to get a salad or chia seed pudding at a vegan chain around the world!!!! Thank you happiness through health!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Thank you Ocean for spreading the word about how to not only recover from chronic illnesses, but how to make optimal health our lifelong goal. I am so grateful that your father (and mother) made it their life passion to spread this word and that you followed their path to continue this work for the next generation. Many lives have been turned around for the better as a result of your parents and your dedication to educating us all "against the grain" of what Big Food and Big Pharma would have us believe. With a deep bow of gratitude!

Gload to finally understand why ocean is named ocean! Makes sense now. And so does his story. Reminding me of my dear Mom who just passed last year at 97. She was what they called a "health food nut" back in those early days, but I am blessed that she taught me good food vs bad foods and I live her legacy today! Her fav book was "White Sugar - The Curse of Civilization!" and she would recite that title to everyone she could. Blessed are we that know the joys of loving God's produce, not manmade foods!

You're not alone in your preference for juicy burgers and fries! They are a true delight. At the same time, kale smoothies offer a refreshing way to incorporate more greens into our diets and provide a variety of nutrients. It's about finding joy in both indulgent treats and nourishing choices.

I agree, nothing quite beats the taste of a delicious burger and fries combo! It's all about moderation and enjoying the best of both worlds.

Biting into a juicy burger is indeed satisfying! But hey, how about pairing it with a refreshing kale smoothie? Balance is everything!

The story of your family is one of my favorites. It’s such a beautiful example of what’s possible in health and how much making these changes are worth it. I love FRN. Appreciate you, Ocean.

Needed this today, I use fast food as comfort and yes I know this stuff, but imagine his family walked away from a fortune to tell the truth about food!!!!

Food has made me happy: whole plant foods only. Getting off animal and processed and refined foods radically changed my mood for the better- even though that wasn’t the reason I did it. Thanks for getting the word out until the American Medical Association decides to stop burying this lifesaving and planet saving info due to greed.

Very impressive presentation - right to the point with a sprinkle of levity. Although I am familiar with Ocean and his story I have never heard him present it in such a clear and concise form. Bravo Ocean !

I had no idea your family started Baskin-Robbins. It's so so true , food can hurt us or heal us. I'm working at eliminating 'added' sugar, as much sugar as possible, from my everyday diet. Quality of life means more to me than quantity. Thank you so much for sharing!

Let's face it, when you're working three jobs to make ends meet, the convenience of fast food becomes hard to resist. It's not ideal, but it's survival mode...

Fast food is so expensive! Defeats the point of working three jobs!

But fast food in the not too long run will make you sick and you won’t be able to work or enjoy life Nowadays with the internet it an easy to find ways to change our ways, and learn to have our quick health foods at home. Is not as hard as it seems. Food revolution website is great and teaches a lot

Whole plant foods make me happy! :-) I went plant-based in 2018 starting with giving up meat, and kept going from there. I lost weight, eliminated panic attacks, and prevented myself from developing type 2 diabetes like my grandma and mom. I’m grateful every day for God leading me to the plant-based life because it has literally saved my life. We now have a 2-year-old son who has been plant-based from birth! Thank you, Ocean, for this inspiring message, and for always standing strong for health. Your work matters! I’ll be sharing this video with my audience later today. :-)

So happy for you and your family. I'm 87 and went plant-base 3 years ago. Wish I had known about it earlier.

Amazing story! I'm glad I started relatively young, when I was 18 but it inspired me to go into health coaching and then to becoming a physician- and doing it the right way with all the amazing plant based docs as role models like Dr. Joel Fuhrman, Dr. Michael Greger, Dr. Neal Barnard, Dr. Brooke Goldner, Dr. Saray Stancic, and more! I found Ocean and John Robbins and their amazing work with FRN along the way! It's been quite a journey of learning and helping others as a health coach, and have been doing my best to get fellow pre meds on board as well!

Thanks@@baileebrushell ! Yes, and my husband had Type 2 when we got together, and I helped him reverse it by going WFPB. He's been non-diabetic ever since!
