Very skilled at this at Vickers dynapower/stratopower. I built, rebuilt , lapped pistons, and fine tuned on test stands, manual and automatic. Pumps, motors, starters. I loved that job... Even patch test runs .. particle count of a series break in...

That’s absolutely incredible Donald. It’s definitely a different side of maintenance.

Stig…see if you can visit Tulsa’s store for wheels and brakes. "So when you see mighty jet aircraft as they mark their way through the air, remember the grease-stained man with the wrench in his hand; he is the man who put them there."

Thanks for this good video, Stig! I too once worked in an overhaul shop in my career.. we repaired or overhauled many different components. What I learned from this helped me once I got on the big jets to help troubleshooting problems. Knowing how these components function internally really helps. Couple of things: 1. These are FAA part 145 repair stations 2. Pre testing is required on everything received to verify or not the customers reason for removal. 3. All techs must write detailed tear down reports…. Goes with the aircraft record! 4. Most components are not conditioned new but either repaired or overhauled. 5. Any modifications or AD’s must be applied prior to QC stamp of release.

Stig that was amazing. We install Eaton switchgear, MCC’s and other Eaton electrical components. I never knew they did this type of work, and the extensive testing and QC. Thanks again for educating this AvGeek.

I'm working in electronic company and we had rework stations where rework mechanics and electronic modules. The accuracy of PM (preventive maintenance) and scheduled rework activities are most important. Into aviation branches this is *primarly* for safety. We hope to have ever certified and tracked spare parts. Thank Stig to shown these "background" activities.😊

This was my first attempt to get into this wonderful industry. I went to Falcon Jet in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ for an interview & it was a total joke. I understood hydraulics, electronics & mechanics but this person was just playing with me. I was trying to make a good impression by being friendly & cordial but he wanted no part. He gave me schematics to read that were in French. Components I knew, writing I did not. Then he gave me two cables like car battery cables, maybe 2gauge he wanted me to solder them together with a 25W pencil soldering iron normally used on component’s like IC’s, resistors, etc. impossible for cables that size. It was a horrible experience. I think he was just going through the motions but already had someone hired. Or maybe he didn’t like Americans, you know what they say about the French!

Some of them do have their license, but overall they are all trained for the specific jobs they do, and they are qualified

Cool video! Is there a reason that all of your videos are filmed in portrait? I (personally) find that landscape mode is a much better viewing experience. Food for thought, thanks for sharing!
@StigAviation
@StigAviation 11 месяцев назад
Majority of the time I am filming with my phone, and just for comfort sake, it’s easier to hold it upright instead of sideways, I also tend to cater more towards the mobile phone user. I do apologize, and I know 99% of RU-vid is landscape mode, but it just makes it easier for me to shoot footage and edit footage like this. Hopefully in the future, I can upgrade my production quality with better camera equipment, but for now it’s a bit of a guerrilla style filming.

Never cared about planes. One day on RU-vid a channel called midair disasters. I listened to the stories and found it interesting on how some pilots pulled off some miracles. Then I bought a flight sim game a couple weeks ago. Now I'm down a rabbit hole trying to figure out codes and how things work. Then I came across this channel. Never knew the complex workings on just to get a plane to move is crazy. The comment about good parts aged well now that Boeing is messing up.
@StigAviation
@StigAviation Месяц назад
The Aviation world is incredibly complex and majority of people only focus on pilots and flight attendants, nobody ever sees this side of Aviation. This is why I’m here and this is why I’m showing you this. Maintenance is actually what makes airplanes fly. Without us you would have a paper weight with wings.

That is insane I'm blown away. Eaton deals with AIRCRAFT parts And i was thinking they only deal with truck transmission's. That is very impressive.
@StigAviation

Indeed, they do a lot of manufacturing for many different areas not only Aviation as well as trucking, but as well as power management.

@StigAviation Enjoyed the video, Eaton sounds like they do the job right and not make rudder PCUs That internally bypass and bring down two 737s. NOW ,,I won't mention any names but ,,,, Parker Hennefin ,,
@StigAviation
@StigAviation 11 месяцев назад
@@wayback75 I know exactly what you’re talking about. I remember those incidents
@wayback75
@wayback75 11 месяцев назад
@StigAviation Stig, back in the mid 80s while working for a major airline , I remember twice having to change out rudder PCUs on a 727. They were internally bypassing. Now as you know the 27 has a split rudder which in the cockpit, the pilot can isolate and shut hydraulics off to the affected rudder. It was an all day job. To bad Boeing didn't design the 37 with a split rudder system.

I worked at an OEM/overhaul shop and yeah... never again lol it was a waste of time as an a&p, lots of quality and engineering issues and in places other than CA they just hire anyone off the street for cheaper than you could work at target for.
@meowmeow2759
@meowmeow2759 10 месяцев назад
I did learn a lot though from a different part of aerospace that a lot of mechanics don't get to experience.
@StigAviation
@StigAviation 10 месяцев назад
@@meowmeow2759 and that’s the point of those facilities, use it as a stepping stone and move forward in your career as an A&P. For example others that don’t wish to pursue the license but still be part of the aviation industry, it’s an option for steady employment.
